About Eastwood TIG Welder 200 Amp AC/DC

Eastwood TIG200 200AMP welder features an AC/DC switch that allows both steels and aluminum to be welded with the same machine. With a 14' torch and a 10' ground cable, you'll be able to get into any space with this exceptional machine. It has pre- and post-flow adjustment knobs to protect your weld and torch. It even has a foot pedal to control amperage so you can get going quickly, without the need to dial-in the machine for a specific material. Powered through a NEMA50 plug.

Automatically switches from 110v to 220v depending on input. Infinitely adjustable foot pedal and amperage control allow accurate aluminum welding, and adjustable pre- and post-gas flow results in proper arc starting, stabilization and bead cool-down. Thumb control overrides the foot pedal for out-of-position welding, or when bench welding is not an option. This TIG 200 Welder is backed by Eastwood's no-hassle 3-year warranty. Try it for 30 days, and if you're not satisfied, simply return it.

Nervous about purchasing a Chinese tig. But hey decent reviews. Ordered one and it was dead on arrival. Eastwood was great about the return. No hassle, just had UPS pick it up.
Decide to step up to American made and bought a Lincoln 225 tig for 2250.00. Big price difference.

Consider this an entry level Tig welder, it's not a Miller or a Lincoln, but then again it does not cost as much.

Good results for a reasonable price. This is an excellent hobbiest welder and does what it should.

I LOVE THIS WELDER! It came 3 days after purchasing, Well packed. I have never tig welded but always wanted to. Easy to setup, straightforward controls. Get a book on welding if you have questions. I had a puddle going the first time I turned it on. Going to spend the next month practicing until I'm doing it in my sleep.

This is a follow up to an earlier review. I did receive my new welder and since then I've been welding like crazy. I just want to make sure everything is ok in those first 30 days. After a little tweeking of the coating on the foot pedal that wasn't allowing the welder to shut off I was in business. I had the welder cranked up today nearly to the max and I was welding passes across a piece of 1/4 in. aluminum. I would say it had plenty of heat, and I finally had to take a break when it got too hot to keep my hands around. I'm happy with it so far.

After a while of searching and looking all over the web I decided to pull the trigger and purchase the Tig 200 welder. I got it from Fed Ex in 3 days and was thrilled about that, but so far that ends the excitement.

I got the welder out of its excellent packing and plugged it into my 110 outlet. I pushed the foot pedal just to see what happens (since never having tig welded) and it immediately overloaded. After having a 30amp 220 plug put in. I plugged the welder in and it immediately overloaded when I turned the welder on.

I called customer support and like other reviews say it is excellent. They called back quickly after I talked to tech support and got me set up to send it back. They are sending me another welder once they get the defective one back. I sure hope it works well since I can't afford a Miller or Lincoln.

Never having tig welded before, I knew I was in for a learning curve, especially since my only formal training previously was in high school many, many years ago. I have been welding with an oxy torch, so I had the coordination thing down, and have also done minimal welding with a mig. Overall, learning to weld steel was pretty easy, aluminum, a bit more of a touch is required, but hey, whats a few cyliners of argon worth anyhow??!!

I recieved my welder in mid August and everything was in the box and well packed. Being a novice welder, but a few negative things came up during my first 2 1/2 months of operating this welder:

The foot pedal really needs to wired using one thicker cable instead of two small diameter wires. It seems I am always getting my chair wheels caught on the wires! the circuit/breaker - on/off switch should be moved to the front. Since all of the controls are in the front why not the on - off switch? The manual is a little bit better than the chineselish manuals put out by Harbor Freight, but there is so much more information missing that should be included. I think a better trouble-shooting guide would help, plus I agree with other reviewers and their comments about the manual. An optional torch with an adjustable current control would be great!! Being tied down to a foot switch while lying on your back is pretty awkward at best!!

Overall, I am pleased with this welder and would recommend this to anyone who is on a budget! I would not have been able to buy a new TIG welder by any of the major manufacturers, and in fact haven't found a used AC/DC tig welder from Lincoln or Miller for anything less than about $1700! I attached a photo of my aluminum welding cart project complete with a 125 cf argon cylinder.

I just received my Tig 200. I have not used a tig since welding trade school 30 years ago. Then they were huge machines. One suggestion and one question. First, the gas connection on the back of the machine is mounted at the absolute lowest point on the machine. I set the machine on a welding cart and the fitting was resting on the lip of the cart. If you re-design the machine please raise this fitting.

Question. The two feed cables for the foot peddle are strewn all over the place. Can I tape these together or will it cause some resistance of some kind. I would like to neaten these up if it doesn't cause an issue. I looked for an email address for Matt the engineer. I wanted to ask him this question. I couldn't find an email address.

I also noticed the clamps at the plugs on these cables don't actually touch the wiring. Over the long haul the wires may pull out.

Otherwise, I tried it out on both AC/DC and it worked nicely on my practice pieces. Hot enough to burn through 1/4" plate if your not paying attension. I'm very satified. I waited a long time to buy a tig.

So i purchase my Tig 200, it arived nicley boxed, it was a nice looking unit no complaints on the quality or feel of the unit. i set up my argon and with 110 went to work on some aluminum, worked very nice quiet machine. ran about 50 diffrent welds, that first day. day two working on more aluminum and then the ARC stoped, overload light was on... so i let it cool in the on positon for about a 20 minutes and it was still over loaded? well i called east wood the next day as it still would not work, he informed me that he has seen this one other time, and that they will send me a new unit out. great customer service and yes i still belive this is a good product, if it breaks send it back no problem, also i will review this new unit once i recieve it as well.

again the unit feels like good quality and i like the welds its made so far. lines are nice and light pre flow post flow all adjustable super nice this with the east wood auto darkening hood is a sweet combo. NOT SHORT ON POWER>>>>

I had 2 of these and both had problems. The first one broke within the first 30 seconds of using it. Neither the foot pedal or the trigger could get the machine to trigger an arc. But the reason I bought this welder was because of the warranty and reputation that eastwood has and they proved themselves right. They took care of it very quickly and in less than a week I had a new welder. This welder worked ok for awhile on DC but always immediatly overloaded while on AC and never had as much power as what I expected on DC. I used that welder for awhile and eventually ended up returning that one and they took very good care of me on it. I now have a syncrowave 200 and I can definatly say that you get what you pay for and I appreciate all the qualities and the very informational owners manual. I suggest spending the extra money to make sure you get a quality product.
