Base and platform are cast iron, connected by a steel post. Stand must be bolted to the floor. Some drilling may be required. 3-legged base is 18" in diameter.
Pedestal post, base, top platform and instructions
Pedestal must be securely bolted to the floor.

Quality Price Value Excellent value. as stated in product information, design for bolting to floor, but can also bolt to wooden board(s). I bought a second stand after using the first one for several months.
