Professional Brake Tubing Flaring Tool

Professional Brake Tubing Flaring Tool

Product Review (submitted on December 18, 2010):

I haven't tried to flare a brake line in nearly 30 years and from what I remember, the results back then weren't good.

Fast forward to my current project. I could take the 'easy' way out and buy pre-flared, pre-cut lines from NAPA, but I didn't like the idea of making a bunch of loops at the ends of my brake lines to allow me to avoid cutting them to length and flaring them.

I read on that this tool was hands down the best one available. It was a little pricey, but making perfect flares is a dead simple process.

The included directions are not great, but the YouTube video is enough to get you going if you stop and think about it for a minute.

Remember that there are two sides to each sized die.. For brakes, you want the 45% (angled) side.. Ensure top and bottom are the same. The other side is JIC (not common).

Rotate the hub to the flat die to line everything up, then rotate to step 1 (3/16 for brakes), pull, then rotate to step 2 and pull again (harder this time).

Done - perfect flares - and no sloppy loops in your line.
