I use a Synchrowave 300 at the shop so I picked this up for home & garage use. It's a great unit. I am however having issues with it. It worked pretty decent for about 2 weeks. Every now and again I would have a problem where the HF arc would strike, but even with the machine running full bore on a 220 amp service, at 200 amps off either the foot pedal or the thumb control it wouldn't put out enough amperage to even discolor 22 gauge. I don't know if it's a problem with the board or what, because it would start doing on the same piece I was welding on a few minutes prior without changing anything... then I'd have to fiddle with the connections, still get nothing and out of nowhere it would strike an actual arc again. I'm an AWS certified welder, and I love the fact they brought a *great* affordable TIG to the masses. When it works, it works *great*. I used it to weld mild steel, chromoly and aluminium with great success. I'm just disheartened at the problems the unit is having so we shall see how they handle it. If they get the QC on these figured out, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to everybody I know, as it really is a great piece, when it works.
