Economy Throatless Shear is rated 4.35 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unable to perform When my shear arived, I first had to partially disasemble and reassemble it because of several loose parts. Once I had fixed it, I noticed one of the screws that adjusts the blade was broken and stuck in place. This must have happened while it was being initially assembled, because the paint had been applied over the broken screw, making it even more stuck. This prevented me from being able to adjust the blade. When I tried to cut a sample piece of 18 gauge mild steel sheet, the blade warped after cutting only a half inch into the sheet and was totally ruined. I immediately returned the shear and won't be buying from Eastwood again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Shop Elsewhere The quality is very poor. Harbor freight would probably be better. Eastwood has slipped in quality. Missing hardware for handle. Casting was so poor they could not even machine the surfaces for the shear guide. All the other hardware was loose and when tightened it just made the shear bind. Would have had to spend hours to machine and adjust to get this to operate correctly. They did offer the money back guarantee. The problem is that they do not pay the freight back. Cost me $30 to shop here that I could have spent on a good tool. Sorry to say this is my last Eastwood purchase. China has ruined another good American company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great time saver. We purchased this Economy Throatless Shear for our company's Engineering protoype shop. It works very nice for curved or straight cuts. Metal distortion from shearing the material is minimal. This along with with the brake we purchased at the same time, allows us to make prototype parts in house. This saves much time and money over sending out simple parts to a job shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous For The Price!!! Please keep in mind this is not a $800+ Beverly shear - for the price, it is well made and I'm very pleased with my shear which I purchased a year ago now. I find I can make very accurate cuts, trimming off slivers of metal without smushing or creasing even the thin gauges. I work mainly in copper, brass and some steel sheet. I had no problem with assembly at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good value for the price This is an imported tool. I bought it at 50% off, so how bad could it be. I took it apart, cleaned off the blue paint, regreased and adjusted the blades. It works perfectly. I got a great deal and the tool performs nicely. Eastwood should make this one here in the USA. Thanks again for great tools and service. JC

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fair value I can see why a person may be frustrated with this product when it arrives. It cannot be immediately used right out of the box, at least mine wasn't useable. It had to be tightened up. The bed blade had to be ground for proper clearance and the handle was very loose and needed to be shimmed. It now works very well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice tool to have if you do a lot of fabrication Just got done raising the transmission tunnel up 3 inches and had to fab up a cover on the rear. The shear worked great. Got a nice moon shaped cutout with a 5 inch diameter. Distortion was mild, flattend the piece out with a couple of two by fours and welded it into place.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from decent tool My boss bought one of these cutters for the shop. We used it for just over a year with no problems, once it was setup it took a little adjustment to the blade and had to tighten the pivot bolt everyonce in awhile. I liked it enough im going to purchase one for my own shop.
