Description
Eastwood Tunnel Ram Gray Metallic Basecoat Paint adds the superior durability of urethane to the ease of conventional basecoats.

Basecoat Paint Kit is a low-VOC system, so it meets regulatory limits in highly-regulated areas, eliminating the need to switch to a waterborne system.
Specifications
BASECOAT PAINT MIXING RATIOS
Thoroughly mix four parts Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat with one part Low-VOC Urethane Activator. Use Fast (50308ZP) for small jobs, or temps below 75°F; Medium (50309ZP) for small jobs, or temps between 70-85°F; or Slow (50310ZP) for large jobs, or temps above 80°F. Keep in mind, other factors, such as humidity, air flow and total film thickness should also be considered. In many situations, it will be useful to add 10%-20% 50104ZP Zero-VOC Reducer to aid sprayabliity, flow and leveling. Remember, this is an activated basecoat system; only mix as much as is needed. Pot life is about 2 hours at 70°F.
PAINT GUN SET-UP
HVLP Gun: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.4 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 8-10 psi
Conventional Gravity: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.5 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi
Conventional Siphon: Fluid Tip: 1.3-1.6 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Apply Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat color in two full medium wet coats with a consistent 50% overlap pattern. Allow five to ten minutes flash time between coats. Flash time should increase if additional coats are applied. Most colors will cover in two coats. A third and final coat may be applied to set even metallic pattern. If required, apply this light coat immediately after the previous full wet coat, moving the gun with faster passes, from further away. Mist basecoat onto the wet film until the metallic pattern is uniform.
Basecoat should dry dust-free within 10-20 minutes. May be lightly sanded in as few as 20 minutes. Wait at least 30 minutes before wet sanding. Wait 45-90 minutes before taping on the fresh film. All dry times are approximate, at 70°. Temperature, air flow, total film thickness and other variable may extend these times.

Nice color, difficult to spray
I love the look it added but you have to really be on your game to get even color, hard for me to tell I was light in spots until I shot the clear, used a devilbiss flg in my garage with black primer and my first metallic paint job

Poor color sample listed, long shipping time
Horrible shipping time they promise one day and always gets delayed. The paint is darker than the picture they sample sprays almost black

Questions & Answers
When adding a reducer of 10 - 20% to any of the basecoats, Is this in addition, (added on top) of the basecoat mix of 4:1
When mixing the 4:1 basecoat. The mix ratio is 4 parts of paint to 1 part activator, then if you would like to reduce it you can add up to 1 part of reducer.
If the 10/20% ratio will be used that would be 10/20% of the total volume of the mixed paint and activator.

Can this product be utilized as a base for kandy or pearls?
Yes, the product can be used for a base under Kandy and pearls. If this is something that is going to be tried we would suggest applying this on a test panel to make sure that this is going to be the color that would be something you want to see.

The description says that it's a metallic grey but based on the picture it looks more like a metallic gold. Just wondering if it turns out to be a gold or grey?
Unfortunately computer resolution can effect what you are seeing versus the real result. This is a grey finish.

Do i need to purchase clear coat as well for this paint after it been applied? Also i have a 86 chevy an need to know how many gallons to paint truck short wheel base all parts including door jams.
You will need additional clear to coat this base coat color. Generally 2 gallons should cover your vehicle as long as you do not plan on painting inside the bed. You will also need 2 gallons of clear to go with the color.
