Eastwood 2K AeroSpray Spray Paint Epoxy Primer Black

Product Overview:

Description

2K AeroSpray - Two Component Paint Gun Technology in a Can!

Easily get parts ready for a fresh coat of paint with this epoxy chassis spray primer created by Eastwood. Our 2K AeroSpray™ primer is just like its basecoat cousins in that it provides a durable 2-component finish without a paint gun. Both the primer and activator are inside an aerosol spray can. By removing the red button from the cap and puncturing the inner chamber at the bottom of the can, you release the activator. It then mixes with the primer as you spray.

Thanks to leading valve and nozzle technology, AeroSpray black primer sprays in a wide fan pattern just like an HVLP gun, giving complete coverage to body panels. It’s also a great primer for springs, wheel wells and other parts where you’re applying Eastwood Chassis Black. To learn more about our aerosol spray primer technology that produces professional results for DIYers, watch the videos above or visit the Eastwood Garage. We help you Do the Job Right for any restoration or repair project.

Eastwood 2K AeroSpray Black Epoxy Primer Features:

  • 2-Component Catalyzed Technology
  • Two Chamber Design Aerosol
  • Most Durable Aerosol Epoxy Primer Available
  • Sprays Like a Paint Gun

The innovative nozzle and valve technology, combined with its two internal chambers, ensure the right ratio is mixed every time. Sprays like a gun with a broader spray pattern than conventional aerosols and no mess to clean up. You'll achieve professional results from an easy-to-spray aerosol.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aerospray primer Great product and works good along with the optiflow epoxy primer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black primer and paint review This primer worked great. Good spray pattern and coverage. The spray is a lot better than the “low gloss black” for the final color. The “low gloss black” spray head needs lots of work. It does not spray like a spray gun as Eastwood says.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood 2K Spray Epoxy Primer I’ve been quite pleased with this epoxy spray. It goes on evenly and covers well with no splatters as some other rattle can paints will often do. Finally, you get quite a bit of paint out of each can, so you definitely get your money’s worth!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2k epoxy primer gray This product works so well for small jobs, theirs no messy clean up of your spray gun.because it’s epoxy it doesn’t allow flash rust to take placed on bear metal. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Review I’m still waiting to use it but I’m excited to use it. Comes in a good size can. I read that once you activate it, you’ll only have a limited amount of time to use it so I’m really just waiting until I get my car prepped up and spray in areas that metals are exposed and still deciding if I should spray this over body filler. I’m incline to spraying over body filler and sanding it off according to the video provided by Eastwood for beginners. But my thought was that because they sprayed epoxy in the video was because they’re working with bare metal and I’m not. I’m just sanding car down to oem paint, finish any body work, then paint. I’m using this epoxy over bare metal to prevent corrosion according to my research. I’ve sanded all my edges and corner to metal, feathered in towards inner panel and will spray this on after works and then sand to even surface. The reason I’m doing that is because at corners and edges I noticed paint peeling on the car and will spray it after epoxy and wrap paint around edges and corners to other side of panels when spraying to hold them down for long term.

Questions & Answers

Can lacquer Single stage Touch up paint be used with this.

Asked by: Jon1500
We can not guarantee compatibility between our brand and products/brands we do not sell. We would have to advise you to test on a small section of the surface or on scrap metal first.

I would like to seal the transmission casting on an old GPW Jeep so oil does not seep through the porous casting. Is this product resistant to oil. Note the transmission does not get hot.

Asked by: Grant
This product does have excellent oil resistance per ASTM standards, but it should not be used as a sealant or in an environment where oil contact is constant.

Is a second coat needed/recommended? If so, when should it be applied. Also, I'll be top coating with Raptor liner. How long should I wait to apply? Thanks!

Asked by: LBC restorer
Ideally we do recommend at least 2 coats. You can apply a second coat as soon as 5-7 minutes after applying the first up until about 12 hours. After 12 hours it will have fully cured and will need to be sanded first. We do not sell Raptor liner so we can not guarantee compatibility with it. We would have to recommend you test a scrap piece of metal first but you should be able to top coat as soon as 20-25 minutes after applying up until the 12 hours. After 12 hours- it must be sanded first.
Answered by: Kelly H
Date published: 2022-07-21

Raptor Liner recommends a primer be used on bare metal. If epoxy primer is used, they recommend one with a hardener. Does Eastwood 2K AeroSpray Epoxy Primer contain a hardener? Thanks!

Asked by: LBC restorer
Yes- this 2k can has hardener. The red button on the bottom of the can that you push up releases the hardener. Then you shake and apply like a normal aerosol; but this will have a 48 hour pot life once activated.

Does this have to be applied to bare metal or can I scuff old paint, new bond and apply over that like normal automotive primer? Also what about applying over self etching primer? Thanks

Asked by: Alex
As long as the surface is scuffed and cleaned there should be no issue with the epoxy adhering to most automotive topcoats. However, it is not able to be used with self-etching primer.

Is this an appropriate under-coating for a vinyl-covered steel dash?  How much time should pass between applying this product and then applying glue and vinyl?

Asked by: Bob A
This is designed as a primer coating for our Acrylic Urethane automotive and other specialty paints and we have never tested it for that specific application. There could be a reaction with the glue when applied would be the biggest concern.
