Eastwood 2K AeroSpray Spray Paint Epoxy Primer Black

Product Overview:

Description

2K AeroSpray - Two Component Paint Gun Technology in a Can!

Easily get parts ready for a fresh coat of paint with this epoxy chassis spray primer created by Eastwood. Our 2K AeroSpray™ primer is just like its basecoat cousins in that it provides a durable 2-component finish without a paint gun. Both the primer and activator are inside an aerosol spray can. By removing the red button from the cap and puncturing the inner chamber at the bottom of the can, you release the activator. It then mixes with the primer as you spray.

Thanks to leading valve and nozzle technology, AeroSpray black primer sprays in a wide fan pattern just like an HVLP gun, giving complete coverage to body panels. It’s also a great primer for springs, wheel wells and other parts where you’re applying Eastwood Chassis Black. To learn more about our aerosol spray primer technology that produces professional results for DIYers, watch the videos above or visit the Eastwood Garage. We help you Do the Job Right for any restoration or repair project.

Eastwood 2K AeroSpray Black Epoxy Primer Features:

  • 2-Component Catalyzed Technology
  • Two Chamber Design Aerosol
  • Most Durable Aerosol Epoxy Primer Available
  • Sprays Like a Paint Gun

The innovative nozzle and valve technology, combined with its two internal chambers, ensure the right ratio is mixed every time. Sprays like a gun with a broader spray pattern than conventional aerosols and no mess to clean up. You'll achieve professional results from an easy-to-spray aerosol.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epoxy Paint Needed to paint a small area and this can fit the needs perfectly, the paint cured quickly, sprayed a test piece first and tried to scrape it off, stuff is tuff so far very pleased with this product, it’s pricy for large areas. But works very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sprays & covers very well Using a spray can primer has never been more of a joy to spray. Went on with a great spray pattern & smooth. The can says 24 hours stay in the can when mixed, well that’s incorrect I have used it four days later just to test. Worked well again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2K Grey Epoxy Primer First time I used this. Have been hesitant as, let's face it, epoxy in a rattle can! I used this to seal a properly prepared magnesium fan shroud. I have to say, I was impressed. The spray pressure was excellent, coverage was wide but controllable. Flew out of the can and onto part with ease. Cured quickly and top coated. For people that can't afford the big boy set up, this is a great alternative. The bad is it's not quite a standard grey, more like grey/tan. And it doesn't go very far. But hey, epoxy in a rattle can!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! I bought this stuff a bit skeptical but man, am I pleased! The nozzle is adjustable and works perfect. This stuff sprays on like a paint gun and has a really smooth finish once applied. The only negative is the price and the fact that once you bust a can open, you have to use it within 48 hours. I'd buy it again if I needed to!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2k primer gray Used this on my engine and when I went back to scrape and prep the gasket surfaces this stuff was stuck so tight I was totally impressed. I will use it under top coats from here on out. It's the bomb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Went on easy and smooth, no issues! This was the first time I sprayed epoxy out of an aerosol and it exceeded my expectation. It went on well, sprayed great, great coverage. I sprayed my engine bay and it provided a great base coat. I didn't even sand the epoxy afterwards because the epoxy sat flat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product Son is a professional painter and highly doubted the 2k can. Was very impressed after using the product. Would definitely use again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from super easy Great product, easy to use, If you have small areas to cover this is a time saver, no mess, no clean up!
Date published: 2016-05-24
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sprays great, lays flat Great product. The nozzle is awesome and the Epoxy laid down nice and flat and recoats really well. I would say it would be helpful if cure time and recoat times were included on the can labels, but you can figure it out as the coats start to tack up. This primaer made a great base layer for doing my body work underneath. one can was perfect for my motorcycle tank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2k Aero-spray epoxy primer The product is great , I like the adjustable nozzle ,sprays nice. Happy with the epoxy primer in the can .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to use tried this on my 48 Plymouth. this was the first time to try something like this and it went on really nice. did a compare to another primer and you could clearly tell the difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff One thing about rattle can paint is if you think you have shook it long enough shake it 2 to 3 minutes longer. This paint worked really good and I am really pleased with the out come. For those who have had problems with the paint you just didn't shake it long enough. I hope to buy more. Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good product I used one can on a spoiler and didnt want to go through the hassle of cleaning my paint gun so for what I did the can was actually cheaper than buying paint, catalyst and cleanup. The can spray pattern was the best I have ever used. The paint wet sands great. It would be expensive for a large area but for the spoiler it saved time. No complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough Stuff Used several cans so far and all sprayed real nice. Great for small to medium projects
Date published: 2015-07-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from covers great Used it over the weekend, you have to move a little slow with it or else youll shoot it kinda dry with orange peel. Toward the end of the can it can start to spit. I would suggest not to use the last little bit of it. Use it wisely not a whole lot in it. I will buy this again without hesitation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good I keep re-ordering it. This stuff is awesome. Yes there good be more in the can but as an epoxy paint it's the best I have used. It covers great and sands out perfect. Follow the directions and you won't have a problem. I never have had any trouble with any cans not performing. I have used 10 cans so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from you know Eastwood does it right I bought 7 cans of this to respray my Camaro in the barn. I don't have a spray fun setup so this was my choice. I will say this, I took it to a body shop to get an estimate for paint and the guy asked" who done the primer sealer job" when I told him I did it with an aerosol can, he laughed and said yea right, that smile turned to a frown when I pulled one of the cans out of the seat, he said it was a professional looking job and he didn't think aerosol cans could do that, I told him Eastwood.com and now I believe he is using that primer today and shaving money of the overhead, he even gave me a heck of a deal in a paint job. We are buddies now. Thanks Eastwood for a great product and ill be a customer for life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from rock solid Great product.. This primer covers great and sands the next day like magic. Be sure to wear a mask and shoot within 8 to 10 inches or you get overspray on fresh paint. Can holds 2 oz. more than your color paint can so be sure to buy enough paint to cover.
Date published: 2015-02-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! I have used several of these cans on various small parts. I can't speak to the quality of the paint itself. However, the cans spray very well and it seems to work quite well. It is expensive, but for me it is more convenient for smaller parts than setting up a makeshift spray booth, cleaning gun, etc. One reviewer was skeptical about how the epoxy could continue to spray after several days. This reviewer seemed to imply that maybe the paint itself wasn't epoxy. I believe this reviewers concerns are misguided. I've worked with several catalyzed epoxies and they tend to have a pretty long pot life. Also, I did a test on a spray panel and it passed the lacquer/reducer test. Meaning I let it dry then wiped it with a rag soaked in lacquer thinner and then reducer. Like I said, I cannot speak to how well the primer will hold up over time, but it has been a good product so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from epoxy primer This stuff is nice to work with. I used it on a fire wall, and misc. small parts, and I'm glad that I did. I'll use it again
Date published: 2015-02-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, for a spray can While there is no substitute for a nice HVLP gun, this is about as close as you can get. Plan on using at least two cans of primer and four of color to spray an engine compartment. It works excellent for what it is.
Date published: 2015-01-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, great spray pattern! As a beginner who can not use a spray gun, i used this in my engine bay and it was great! It sprays wide and even. The end result looks great, no complaints!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product works fantastic didn't have an issue works better then the etching primer
Date published: 2014-07-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy way to use epoxy I used it to prime the tailgate of my truck. It's a lot easier than messing around with a spray gun. One can was enough to do 2 coats. I prefer the gray to a can of black I used previously which seemed to be thinner and splattered a lot.
Date published: 2014-05-27
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for small jobs I bought this for a few small items. The spec sheet says 25-35 sq ft coverage. I was doing alot of small brackets and bars, so my coverage was a bit less, allot was lost in overspray. Shelf life is 48 hours, but I used it all in one shot. Looks just the the material sprayed from the quart. Sporayed nice and layed down nice.
Date published: 2014-04-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Typically good Eastwood product I used this paint on an antique engine restoration. It sprayed on nice and evenly, with a nice sized pan spray pattern. The pot life of this paint allowed me to paint one evening and paint other parts the next evening out of the same can
Date published: 2014-04-09
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product Excellent product. The epoxy was spread very easily and had great coverage. Had much better luck with the epoxy compared to the rat rod 2k paint.

I am using a wire wheel to get specific areas inside my cars floors to expose minor rust, then treat it. Will this be good to use on top of the treated areas as well as existing paint?

Asked by: jcam
The Eastwood 2K Aerospray Epoxy Primer(14790Z) is an excellent primer for clean rust free steel, aluminum, fiberglass and painted surfaces. The pre painted surface should be scuffed to promote a strong bond..

is this a good primer to use so I can paint over zinc plating

Asked by: dude
No, the Eastwood 2K primer is not an etching primer. The primer to use when painting zinc plating would be Eastwood Self Etching Primer (16114Z) this primer is a Direct to Metal (DTM) primer that will adhere to the zinc Plating when properly prepared. It is recommended to thoroughly clean the surface to be primed with Eastwood's Pre Painting Prep( 10041Z) before priming.

93 Camaro roof. Roof is SMC stripped of paint and clear coat, will I need an Adhesion promoter before using the Eastwood spray Epoxy? Roof is approxmatly 26 sq/ft. How many cans should I order? T. Platt CT

Asked by: Tinner
We recommend using a solvent cleaner like our Pre-painting Prep for proper adhesion. You would need 2 cans of our 2K Epoxy Aerospray for full coverage. You may have plenty left over, however 1 can does approximately 25 square feet.

We have no idea what "mystery paint" the previous owner used when he repainted his car body. Will a "epoxy sealer" act as a barrier, so we can use lacquer???

Asked by: John
We can not guarantee compatiblity between anything we sell and products we do not sell. Your safest bet would be to strip down all existing finish and primers then seal with epoxy and proceed. Otherwsie, we would have to strongly recommend you test a small area for applying to the whole panel or surafce.

I have existing primer on the part I want to spray epoxy primer. Anyway to tell if the existing coating is ok to spray over? It’s a red primer.

Asked by: Bodyman101
If the red primer is a single component primer, it is best to remove that before applying the epoxy primer, as the red primer will be the weak link in your finish. If you wipe the red primer with lacquer thinner and it comes off, that is a non-catalyzed finish. If you decide you are not going to remove the red primer, applying light coats of the epoxy primer to get coverage will likely work, but it'd be best to remove.
