Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant product for small jobs!!! I bought this actually about 10 months ago, I was a little worried about its shelf life after it sat un-used for so long, but I decided to open it up and try it anyway and it still has performed quite well! The primer cured just as hard as it should've. I used it to spray a guitar body and so far it has been great for that purpose. I did get several sputters that left little drops on the body, but I expected that, this is a very nice 2k painting solution for people who don't own spray equipment. I won't even knock off a star for that, it did what I needed it to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2K AeroSpray High Build Black Urethane Primer I had an excellent experience with this product. In fact it saved me from missing some spots I missed preparing my 36 Chevy front fender for paint. I will definitly use again. I did sand this primer down before spraying gloss black. Turned out fantastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2K AeroSprayHigh Build Urethane Primer Black Worked very well. Good coverage and build. I found it produces less orange peal when warmed to 90 to 95 degrees.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nozzle problems I bought 3 cans of this, and worked great for my project...but one of the Nozzles would not work??? had to use one off the other cans...I did get to use all the product luckily!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from almost perfect product After reading many reviews about issues with the cans, I decided to order 2 cans for myself as they would be perfect for my project if they worked. I followed the directions and even shook the cans an extra amount of time both before adding and after adding the catalyst. Both cans sprayed flawlessly til most of the can was gone then it started sputtering. After the slight issue with the first can, I made sure that I had a smooth full coverage before 3/4 of the can was gone. the 2nd can started sputtering as I suspected. I just used the remaining for the areas that wouldn't be seen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked good for me I am refinishing/restoring a 57' ford rear end. I did not have issues with the nozzle like some other reviewers. I was expecting it to apply thicker to bridge over the sand blasted pitted areas in the metal but it didn't. I expected this because it's advertised as a build up primer. Aside from this, I was able to use the entire can. I expect exceptional adhesion and durability because this is a two component system, and the primary reason why I purchased this product. I finished the job by applying a Hammered finish paint to somewhat conceal the pitting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good primer Great primer. Can sprays nice if you hold it straight up. Just wish there was more in the can for the price. They should use a taller can for more material.
Date published: 2015-03-24
Rated 3 out of 5 by from 2K spit and sputter If the spray button would work as advertised....then you'd have something. I would recommend this to folks only after explaining the application issues.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great quaility The paint lays down excellent. It's almost like it's out of a spray gun. It's an expensive product, so if you don't use up the entire can, it's wasted. Once you activate the propellent, the remainder of the paint contents only last a day.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Won't Spray Horizontally Without Sputtering I bought a couple of cans of this because I didn't need a gallon of 2K, and Eastwood doesn't sell this primer in quarts. I used this to prime a tailgate laying on a stand (no way to stand it up vertically in my shop). It sprayed around the bottom side (almost upside down) wonderfully. When I went to spray the topside, it was a different story! I started my first pass, and it starts sputtering! I had to hold the can at an angle for it to spray, which of course gave not-so-great results. Hopefully I will be able to fix it and get back on track. Eastwood - Why don't you offer the 2K in quart size???

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Product is just OK The spray pattern of the product does not spray nearly as well as the video shows

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worst experience ever!!! Can#1 - Activated can,, shook for 4min,,The first spray on test panel came out in globs, I tried to adjust nozzle, and can would no longer spray. For the next 10min I tried to unclog nozzle,, then I tested nozzle on un-activated can, I switch the nozzle to activated can with no success, and finally rather than loose the remaining product I punctured the can and emptied the contents into a mixing cup, reduced it and sprayed it from my "Eastwood Gun". Can#2 - Activated can,, shook for 4min,, Was able to spray a 5"x10" pattern on test panel but the stream was too heavy, when I tried to adjust the nozzle, The patented " Innovative nozzle technology" Failed miserably again!!! I then punctured the can and emptied the contents into a mixing cup, reduced it and sprayed it from my "Eastwood Gun".

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad spray I was not happy with the spray can primer I bought. It could have been a defective spray tip. The tip kept spitting like a kid with braces! Had to sand and resand my bumper to get it smooth. I can say that the can of paint sprayed great but the primer was not good. I will not buy this product again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from First spray disaster This spray can spatters like crazy. I follwed the instructions to the tee and it stilled ruined my beautifully prepped work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible! This stuff is a waste of money. I have used the 2k aero spray epoxy and clear coat with great success. Those are good products and I would recommend them. Relying on this past success with the similar products I spent $100 on 4 cans to do some small parts. Only one of the cans worked. The other three continuously spit out paint or wouldn't spray at all (especially on horizontal pieces). It just seemed the cans couldn't generate enough power to atomize the thicker primer. I even tried soaking the nozzles in reducer to no avail. The one can that did work sprayed so thin I don't think it is fair to call this high build primer. Also, there wasn't much primer in the can. I would stick to a regular 2k primer in a spray gun and avoid this. Again, the epoxy and clear are pretty good products but this stuff is junk.

Questions & Answers

How does the build compare to the 2K Polyester Primer Surfacer or compared to non-2k high build primers?

Asked by: BobbyJohn
The 2K Urethane Primer is also a high build primer. However, in comparison to the Contour Polyester Primer Surfacer- it has less of a build, but is still ideal for block sanding.

If I'm trying to paint a brand new plastic bumper from the factory, do I need this or can I just use sems adhesion promoter?

Asked by: knoggy
The adhesion promoter is the only thing that is necessary. Urethane Primer is only necessary if you have filler or scratches to cover.
