Application Tips

Before activating, shake aerosol vigorously for 1 min. Take red button from cap. Rotate aerosol 180 degrees and attach button to pin on aerosol bottom. Place aerosol on firm ground upside down. Press red button with the ball of your hand until stop is reached.After activating, shake aerosol again vigorously for 2 min. Pot life 48 hours at 68 degrees.

One caveat, however, If you're using the same can for two different coats, with a 30 minute break, blow out the valve after the first coat so the second coat doesn't sputter. You blow it out by inverting the can and spraying until paint doesn't come out.

Finally I saw someone say it’s your clear coat and they suggested this. I was hesitant because it’s three times the price but decided it was worth a shot. I knew immediately I made the right decision. This clear coat is actually glossy even before buffing and polishing. I’m sure once you do that it’s even more beautiful! It’s 1000% worth the extra money over duplicolor clear coat. If you are feeling like your top coat hasn’t no shine and frustrated as H$&! Try this!!!

Would this product be appropriate for giving a little extra rust protection to some new parts (like a new diff. cover or new coil springs for eg.) that come in simple black paint--without changing its appearance? If so, how to prep surface? ty

As long as there is no bare meta exposed or that you would be applying to You should be fine to scuff with 600-800 grit paper, clean and de-grease and then apply over.

We can not guarantee compatibility with paints and coatings other than our own since this is all we directly test with. You should be fine, but we would have to advise you to test a small area first.

You can spray Eastwood 2K Aerospray Clear Coat paints over the bed liner in your Ford Rapture but due to the flexible nature of spray-in bed liner we can not guarantee there will be a good long term bond between the 2K clear and the bed liner.

At the suggestion of an Autozone "salesman" I used Mr Clean pads and Bug and Tar remover on specific areas. Disaster! The cleaning pads were abrasive enough to remove the clear coat on the Tacoma Super White paint! They are now flat white. Help!

You will need to thoroughly clean the panel with a grease, wax, silicone remover such as Eastwood's Pre Painting Prep(10041Z). Then scuff/sand the panel to promote adhesion. Wipe the panel again with Pre Painting Prep. Activate the 2K Gloss Clear Aerosol, then apply 1-2 coats with a 50 percent over lap. Allow 3-7 minutes between coats. This Clear spray should fully cure in 12 hours. It can be sanded and buffed.

Yes you can spray Eastwood's 2K Clear High Gloss or Matte(14148Z) over Eastwood's Diamond Clear(16105Z). Allow proper flash time between coats for best application. If the Diamond clear is allowed to fully cure before applying the 2K clear you may want to scuff the surface to promote bonding strength.

I have a mix of paint and bare metal ie. Patina finish on an interior of a cab that I am interested in finishing. What will happen if this paint gets sprayed to a minimum amount of bare metal?

The Eastwood 2K aerosol Paints are not (DTM) Direct to Metal paints and need to be applied over an appropriated primer base or a properly prepared existing painted surface. The bond strength in the bare metal areas can not be guaranteed. The Eastwood Diamond Clear High Gloss paint(16105Z) is a Direct to Metal(DTM finish and will work on bare metal applications.

The Eastwood 2K clear spray paint is not a DTM (direct to metal) paint. It should be sprayed over a primed or pre-painted surface. It is recommended to use the Eastwood Diamond clear Gloss Spray Paint(16105Z) as this is a DTM(direct to metal paint. The surface should be thoroughly cleaned with Eastwood's Pre Painting Prep spray(10041Z) before application.

Rebuilding ABS plastic dashboard from a 1997 Dodge Ram. Will matte clear adhere to unpainted ABS? Will it adhere to DuPont or other flat/matte interior paint without problems? Suggestions welcome!

Yes the Matte Clear(14792) will adhere to unpainted ABS plastic but it is recommended to use an adhesion promoter such as BULLDOG Adhesion Promoter spray (15279Z) or SEM Plastic Adhesion Promoter(52366Z). You should do a test spray out of the 2K matte clear over the base paint you will be using. Do not spray the 2K matte clear Urethane over lacquer based paint.

I’m using galvanized plumbing pipes for a shelving unit.  The galvanized is a bit too shiny and I’m looking to top coat it with a matte clear coat for a duller appearance.  Is this the right product?

Eastwoods 2K Matte Clear(14792Z) although a high Quality paint, is not rated as a Direct to Metal paint. The Eastwood Diamond Clear Satin (16106Z) is a DTM or Direct to metal Clear finish that is formulated to spray on bare metal. it is recommend to thoroughly cleaning the metal parts with Eastwood Pre Painting Prep(10041Z) before applying the clear coat.
