Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great portable drill too! I bought this to drill out spot welds but the use i found for it is worth the price of the tool. I had to drill a lot of holes in the floor board support in a Mustang, sideways from both sides and this tool made it simple. Two fingers to drill 98% through. Then a light punch and the slug falls out. Easy 5/16" hole for a plug weld. Works anywhere you need a 5/16" hole and can get to both sides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential tool for zapping spot welds This tool has performed exactly as promised... really makes short work of spot welds. It is essentially a variable speed air drill with a backing hook and automatic bit advance. Depth of cut is finely adjustable so you can cut a weld with minimal damage to the panel you want to preserve underneath. With the auto-advance, this tool does all the work... just center the target weld and pull the trigger. The backing hook is easily removable (just twist off... it is retained by O-rings) for welds around which the hook can't reach. Also the drill guides on either side of the bit can be rotated so you can visualize the target weld no matter what the angle.

Does this tool come with a deeper arm? I need to get to spot welds that are a couple inches away from the edge of the panel. Or can you take the arm off and still use it?

Asked by: Chris64
Unfortunately, we do not have any alternate length options as far as arms for this tool. This arm can be removed, but for best results the arm should be left on.
