Worked great for what it is meant to do!
This paint worked great to do exactly what I wanted it to do, and what the picture shows it doing, which was refinishing the inside of some plastic tail light housings on a 1985 AMC Eagle. The can calls it out as a galvanizing spray but it stuck just fine to the plastic and made for a really nice finish and brought back the reflectivity I was hoping for in the restoration. Definitely a good product.

Almost,Almost Chrome.
Now anyone and everyone knows that there are is no CHROME spray paint. But this product gets you very close .Nice clean shiney silver. I sprayed this on an un-prepared piece of junk BB gun already painted flat black 20 or so years ago. The gun laid on a horse stable floor all those years. I cleaned it up with soap and hot water, let it dry and then sprayed this paint on it. The results are very good. I'm happy with the product. Now remember, you must use a light to medium gray primer, you must spray over that with a dark shiney blue paint, not a gloss black. That is how you prep any surface for this paint. 20 yrs. plus building resin car models,I'm not wrong. Good luck.

It's for light reflectors, not trim!
I can see why the ratings are negative. You guys are using this product on chrome trim. It's not made for that. I use it to restore reflectivity on tail light housings and for that purpose it works excellently. (Tape off the electrical contacts including grounding points.)

Good product.
Whiile it is not chrome, the paint provides a good color and sheen. Coverage is good and dries fast. Highly recommend for inexpensive detailing.

Great product
Great stuff far better than others I have used. A smooth surface is the key to great luster. Primer is also a must for best results.

Chrome paint
This paint is more durable than most. Shine depends on prep just like true chrome plating.

Questions & Answers
When I have used similar products, they look good until they get wet. When I have tried putting a clear coat over them, they just look like silver paint. Does this hold up? Or is it like the others?
Generally, when you have a chrome paint that requires a clear to be applied over- it will dull the reflectivity level of the finish.

IS this product recommended for chrome bumpers
This can be used on Chrome bumpers if you wish but a better option would be the Liquid Chrome Kit found here: https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-liquid-chrome-and-black-base-coat.html

Is this ok for plastic tail light reflectors? The originals are a light silver. I recently needed to do some modification to mine.
Yes, as long as you apply a Plastic Adhesion Promoter first.

Is this paint (Almost Chrome Aerosol Paint ITEM # 25292Z BRAND: EASTWOOD) good for outdoor use?
Yes, this coating can be applied and subjected to the elements.
Date published: 2021-08-13
Can a clear coat be applied to this paint?
A clear can be applied over (such as our 2k clear) but when clear is applied over a chrome finish it does dull the reflectivity of the coating.

will this stay on a aluminum intake manifold
Yes it will bond to properly cleaned and prepared Aluminum. The temperature range for this paint is up 300 degrees.

Will this work on a fog light reflector? If so, would I be better off changing to a cooler bulb to prevent ruining the paint with heat.
The Eastwood Almost Chrome Galvanized Paint(25292z) is heat resistant up to 300 degrees F, and should have no problem with the temperatures from fog light bulbs.
If your temperatures exceed the 300 degree F range the Eastwood Silver High Temp Paint(10396) is slightly less reflective than the Almost Chrome Paint but it withstands temperature as high as 1400 degree F.

What primer should be used on pot metal (tail light housings) before spraying this product on the inside of the housing?
It is not necessary to use a primer under the Almost Chrome. It is highly opaque with a heavy metallic content and can be used directly over the pot metal housing.
If you want to use a primer then recommend one of the Eastwood 2K Aerosols in gray; 14149z, 14794z or 16087z.
