Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product. Whiile it is not chrome, the paint provides a good color and sheen. Coverage is good and dries fast. Highly recommend for inexpensive detailing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Great stuff far better than others I have used. A smooth surface is the key to great luster. Primer is also a must for best results.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chrome paint This paint is more durable than most. Shine depends on prep just like true chrome plating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ALMOST CHROME I bought this even with the negative reviews. I had used it along time ago and it worked as described. It still does. Works best with some gray primer under it. HERE IS THE BIG TIP HOLD 16 OR MORE INCHES AWAY(will be a lot of over spray) USE VERY LIGHT COATS AND IT WON'T BLOTCH ON YOU. I am a 30 plus year body and paint guy and I do recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good product does not look like chrome but looks as close as you can get out of a can, I bought this along with three over the counter chrome paints (walmart, Lowes) and this looked the best. just ordered another can to do a faceplate

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was disappointed-Not as shiny as expected Was painted headlight bezels and was hoping for a closer match to original. More of a galvanized look not a chrome look.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Almost Chrome Paint. Poor Quality I bought this Almost Chrome Paint product to paint a trim piece on a 86 Chev. Monte Carlo. When the product was delivered, there was an opportunity to win $25 with a winning letter about the product I bought. Well, I couldn't write a positive comment about this product. The quality was poor, and does not deserve the title, " almost chrome". And if that's not bad enough, the product still hasn't cured, and it's been a week or more. I'll have to strip it nd start over with someone else's product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from are you kidding? Product was not what I expected. Used Duplicolor Chrome instead. Tried several methods, too. Uneven coverage. Not brilliant enough. Disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I wish I had read the reviews before I spent $25 on this. It's not just like chrome, it's gray. Now I have to strip it and start all over with another product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT! ALMOST CHROME!!!!! I bought this product as most Eastwood merchandise I have purchased performs as it is advertised. This stuff is no where near almost chrome, no relectivity whatsoever. It sprays unevenly and on top of that the can I bought leaked out underneath the spray nozzle getting as much paint on me and the floor as I got on the item I was spraying. Definitely would not buy or recommend this product for any purpose especially for the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Wish I had read some of the reviews before I ordered Almost Chrome. This stuff is a joke. Looks nothing like chrome, looks like silver paint. I painted two small trim pieces for my GTO a couple of days ago and they are still not dry. I'm going to wash them off with lacquer thinner and throw this worthless Almost Chrome away. They should rename it "Nothing Like Chrome".

Rated 1 out of 5 by from POOR PRODUCT I purchased 2 cans of this product because of the claim of chrome like finish. Both cans gave the same result: the products finish looked as though the components in the can had separated. I thought it may be the first can, so I tried the second with the same result. The information on the can said to use the product within 6 months of manufacture with no indicated date. One wonders how long this product was in stock before being sold.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as discribed Very disappointed in the out come of this product. Not as good as other Chrome Spray paints on the market. Not even close to being called a chrome finish. Repainted project with Krylon paint.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Spray Paint I ordered a can of Spray Paint called almost Chrome I was not sure I was shipped the right product, so I called and asked, I was assured I got the right product. I could not use it because reg aluminum is much better. Sorry, will not buy any more paint.
Date published: 2013-02-02
Rated 1 out of 5 by from overpriced, low quality. The quality is no better than krylon or dupli color chrome paint. it is dull and not even close to "almost chrome"

Questions & Answers

Would this work on old chrome wheels that I used rust dissolver on. I got the rust off but I have a "mottled" finish on them now. There is only about 2" of the outside part of the wheel that is visible after the wire baskets are mounted to them.

Asked by: Steve in Spokane
Yes this product will work on your wheels. Just clean the surface with Pre, and take a red scuff pad to the area to be painted, and apply your paint as per label instructions.

I am looking for something that I can use to refurbish the chrome look around my dash gauges on a 1976 gmc pickup will this work?

Asked by: Rich
Our almost chrome can certainly be used in gauges and behind lights.

How durable is this - as good as regular enamel? will this easily rub off? If so what clear should be used? Will this clear turn the reflective surface dull gray (like typical clear on rattle can metallic chromes from Rustoleum or Valspar)?

Asked by: toml
This is as durable as any other non catalyzed paint. Clear over top is not recommended.

Is this ok for plastic tail light reflectors? The originals are a light silver. I recently needed to do some modification to mine.

Asked by: Maria

When I have used similar products, they look good until they get wet. When I have tried putting a clear coat over them, they just look like silver paint. Does this hold up? Or is it like the others?
