Working on 1956 Chevy 210 sedan

Astro pneumatic 13 inch rivet nut kit
It’s a very well made tool. The tool-less mandrel is a time saver. My only issue with the one I bought is that it doesn’t come with a 3/8-16 insert. But I’m a hobby machinist and I’m milling one and then all will be good. ( don’t worry Eastwood people, if I brake it I understand the risk I took. )

Can you get replacement mandrel and nose pieces for the handheld Astro rivet nut tool? My 10-24 broke off on the small end and I need a replacement. Also wondering if you have the metric set upgrade and how much that is ? 7634967322 text or call

Like the fiberglass question... I am curious if this would work with 1/4" plywood or lauan?
There are metal fasteners designed specifically as inserts into wood. The are a cross between a rivet and a rivet nut and take a screw when installed.. They should be available in better hardware and woodworking outlets. They don't work well in panels or thin dimensional wood. Kregg has a full line of wood working fastener systems as well.
A rivet nut will work if installed in metal "behind" plywood or f - glass panels and fastened with a decorative washer and screw.

What is the thread pitch of the metric inserts. M8x ? Example m8x1.0 or m8x1.25???
Unfortunately the manufacturer doe not provide thread pitch information with their literature.

What is the thread pitch of the metric nutserts
We apologize for the confusion. 1/2" NPT defines the thread pitch in this case. It is 14 threads per inch and it is a tapered thread.

Drilling to correct diameter for the thread sert, drill to fit? Or does it need a tighter fit? If so do you have what bit size per sert I would use. TKS
I’ve found that if drilling by hand you can use a bit that’s the same diameter as the insert as the bit tends to drill slightly oversized and will allow the insert to drop in. That or go up one size in a drill index.

How would this work on the dozens of 1/4-20 nuts and bolts holding together the front clip of a 47-54 Chevy 3100?
Yes this tool/kit should certainly work well for this application in reference.

Would this work on fiberglass if you were careful and/or maybe used washers as a backup to keep from cracking.
We have not tested this tool on Fiberglass, If you were to try it on fiberglass, be very careful when pulling the handles. Best to do some practice pulls.
