Description
This short block is great for replacing a tired 350, or for getting more torque out of your hot rod. Your engine may not necessarily come with all components listed, but they are listed as our recommendations of parts to run for optimal performance.
Engine Specifications:
- Block: OE roller block 4 bolt main 1pc seal 1996-2000
- Bore/Stroke: 4.040” x 3.750”
- Displacement: 383CI
- Crankshaft: Scat nodular iron external balance rear of the crank/internal balance front of the crank
- Rods: Scat 4340 forged I beam with ARP 8740 bolts
- Pistons: Hypereutectic -18cc dished
- Compression Ratios: 58cc = 10.3:1 / 64cc = 9.7:1 / 70cc=9.1:1 (can vary due to deck height/gasket thickness)
- Rings: Plasmamoly
- Camshaft Bearings: Dura-Bond, installed and clocked to OEM position
- Freeze Plugs: Brass, installed and sealed
- Oil Galley Plugs: Installed and sealed
- Flexplate/Flywheel: External balance 168 tooth (with Scat kit)

Can I run a weiand 142 blower with 64cc heads on this engine?
with 64cc heads, you will be at 9.7:1 compression. weiand recommends staying under a 12: 1 effective compression ratio so it will have to be set up to only provide 2-3 lbs of boost. https://documents.holley.com/techlibrary_supercharger_tech_info.pdf look at page4

I want to replace a rod knocking 1996 Tahoe 350 with a 383 stroker using factory Vortec heads. Would the compression ratio be that much higher that stock intake/fuel injection system would still be compatible with proper adjustment/modification? (64cc)
At 64CC wit 9.7:1 compression High octane gas would definitely be needed and tuning/larger injectors may be needed for the stock intake/fuel injections system to work properly.

Can I use a hydraulic flat tappet cam In this block? And can I use my 1972 cast iron heads
Yes, you can use a hydraulic flat tappet cam and your 1972 cast iron heads. Compression ratio will be dependent on your head combustion chamber size.

If u have a 350, it will work. I have one in a 77 K10. Tons of power, scary fast for a square body

You can use this block in a 96 impala SS but it will not work with the factory fuel system without modification.
