Made garage painting convenientWe followed directions to the letter and probably went beyond that with our cleaning directions to insure we were putting everything on a clean surface. We only ended up with a few minor runs (will sand off easily) and coverage after 2 coats was thorough. Took us a while to master the rolling skills but lightly rolling over the surface when done left us with a nice finish. Very happy with the results!!

Very little mess. No overspray.Nice finish with roller. Easy to apply. Very thin liquid. Works great on flat horizontal surfaces. On vertical surfaces I had a few runs. Figured it out on the 3rd panel. Runs sanded easily.

So EasyI am a DIY person. I could not believe how easy it was to apply the Epoxy primer and Urethane primer with a roller. More importantly I was pleasantly surprised how great it looked. Made it so easy for preping for the base coat.
The Aerosols within the kit are good for the tight space areas. The roll-on or brush on could be tough.

Can I apply this coating and leave it indefinitely if my project is left in the shop.
Asked by: John1955
Epoxy Primer would be fine if indoors and not subject long to outdoor elements/weather.

Can I use this without painting over it . I have a flat black rattle can paint job on my car now and it's 10 years old and in need of a new paint job .
Asked by: Gunner
That is an option. Main issue is that you will not have long lasting UV protection from the sunlight. You would need to topcoat or clearcoat over it for lasting protection.

Is the black roll in primer a flat black, gloss black or what?
Asked by: Theodore
It appears as most all Black Epoxy Primers do. It is a matte, flat, satin look depending on how well it is applied.

Can the OptiFlow epoxy primer be top coated directly? or is a urethane primer required before top coat?
Asked by: LaBron78
Epoxy Primer can be top-coated directly after proper preparation. Abrade the surface with 320-400 grit sandpaper to ensure proper adhesion of the topcoat. If the epoxy primer is still within its recoat window, no additional prep steps are required. The primer can be top-coated up to about five days. After five days, the surface must be scuff sanded before applying the topcoat.

Once cured, can I leave the car outside without it rusting underneath or does it have to be top coated to be waterproof?
Asked by: Crome
Epoxy Primer will hold up well and battle corrosion, but you wouldn't want to leave it for an extended period. It's recommended to topcoat epoxy primer within a few days to a week to ensure optimal adhesion of subsequent coats and to prevent potential issues like UV damage or moisture absorption, although it won't necessarily corrode if left longer.

I already have Eastwood epoxy primer. Can I roll it on?
Asked by: A D Magnum
The Opti-Flow Epoxy version is the only one designed to roll on. You would not get the best result with regular Epoxy that is designed for spraying.

I'm looking for a hot rod black primer finish. Does this have to be top coated? I'm looking for a matt finish that I can add pinstriping to later!
Asked by: JumpinJacFlash
Epoxy primer is a strong base coat, but it doesn't offer UV protection or the same durability as a dedicated topcoat. It must be top-coated. I would recommend or opt for a matte clear over it possibly to keep the look that you are wanting. OR check out our Rat Rod Satin Black paint.
