Blast Media Glass Bead 50 lb

Product Overview:

Description

Get your old parts looking as good as new with this bulk bag of glass bead blast media. This all-purpose abrasive is effective for all types of metals and many plastics. Glass bead blast media works best on softer metals like aluminum, brass and die-cast. It also works well for paint, carbon and rust removal as well as removing paint from sheet metal. Using glass beads for media produces a lot less dust than aluminum oxide or silicon carbide abrasives, though you should still take proper precautions.

  • 70-100-grit size
  • Use at maximum 60 psi
  • 50-lb. bag
  • Meets mil spec MIL G9954A for size uniformity

Questions & Answers

I’m stripping the paint undercoating and rust off of a 1970 c10 frame and body will this work or will I need a different blasting material

Asked by: Chris
It would be recommended using aluminum oxide which is better for rust and is more aggressive in stripping undercoating.

About how much does 1 cup of these beads weigh? I'm trying to compare to the last substrate I used on a project, but need a better visual for amount/size than 50lbs gives me.

Asked by: Kj1979
Unfortunately since these pre bagged at the manufacture and stored in a warehouse there is no way for us to simply measure one cup of the material. Since these media's are reusable it is possible to only buy 2-3 bags to strip a vehicle as long as you can catch and reuse the media. Tarps are great ways to do so.

Hello, Glass beads are used as weighted stuffing. I want to make a weighted blanket and I wondered if the 70-100 grit 50 pound tub of glass bead material would be suitable. In other words are these glass beads smooth with a very rough? Thanks Sharon

Asked by: Sharon
Unfortunately as we are and automotive based company we have never tested our blast media in blankets and cannot state if it would be safe to do so.

About how man pounds would I need to blast a car Inside and out ?

Asked by: Josch00034
Since this media is reusable it really depends on how much you can capture and reuse. We would recommend with starting out with at least 3 bags.
