Description
Eastwood's Self-Etching Weld-Thru Primer combines the benefits of a weld-thru and the capabilities of a traditional self-etching primer.
- Enhances adhesion and durability of top coats
- Prevents corrosion and reduces spatter
- Non-conductive organic binders
- Gray color
- Made in the USA
This unique self-etching primer formula has organic binders that replace conductive heavy metals such as copper and zinc. These organic binders will burn off during the welding process, leaving a corrosion-resistant self-etching primer for paint prep. This product will reduce spatter and distortion caused by excessive heat that occurs during the welding process. Compatible with MIG, TIG and Arc welding. The metal-etching primer will enhance adhesion and durability and is compatible with most top coats.

Application Tips
Clean surface with Eastwood's PRE, prior to applying primer. Apply 2 medium wet coats, allowing 5 minutes flash time between coats. Allow to cure at least 20 minutes prior to welding.

Highly reccomend for custom frame mods!
Used this on my custom truck frame suspension mods and absolutely love it! This stuff sprays on extremely well, giving an even coat and thick coverage. Easy to weld through!

Works great for me
I have used this product before in my shop with no problems. Its like any other spray can of paint when you get through using it for the job turn it upside down an spray for a few seconds to clean out spray nozzle. I do this on all spray cans i use to get all the paint in the can out.

What topcoats are compatible with the weld through primer?
After welding, remove any remaining weld-through primer before painting to ensure paint will adhere to painted surfaces. Then any paint.

Will this work to get urethane bed liner to adhere to galvanized metal? The bed liner material states to use an etching primer on galvanized metal.
You would want to utilize the standard Self Etching primer- not this weld through variation.

What is the temperature range for the application of this product?
Will withstand heat up to 300 degrees. This is not a high temp primer but a weld through primer.

Yes this can be used with a resistance spot welder as it has conductive agents built into the compound.

When using this with rust encapsulator, fir treat with rust encaps, then spray with weld through primer??
