Questions & Answers

I have a 2000 f150 frame I'm planning to strip down and prime, paint then undercoat. I have some decent surface rust on the entire frame. What media would you suggest be used and how many bags est. Also looking to hit the axles and floor boards as well

Asked by: Nickj1557
For outdoor blasting we recommend Ground Glass either 40/70 mesh or 10/40 mesh. Media size is dependent on the type of blaster and the nozzle size used. Both will remove the rust and corrosion from the frame. I would start with 3 to 4 50lbs bags and go from there. Quantity of media used is also dependent on the type of blaster and nozzle size.

If I use Aluminum oxide 90 grit, what size nozzle should i use? I have an Eastwood benchtop cabinet.

Asked by: Pete53
90 Grit Aluminum Oxide will go through any nozzle we offer provided there is enough CFM from the compressor. The larger the nozzle the more CFM will be required.

I am going to blast my 74 beetle restoration project body and chassis. Would Alum Oxide or glass bead be better for this job?

Asked by: dwuff
We use ground glass on a number of our projects. With your VW, be careful not to stay in one spot, as you do not want to warp the panels. https://www.eastwood.com/speed-blast-silica-free-40-70-mesh-50-lbs.html

I have Aluminum parts I wanted to clean up.. Remove glue/sealant residue, grease/grim/dirt, and paint,... Would this media do any harm to these parts?

Asked by: Ghostrider
This 60 grit media would be very aggressive on aluminum. We recommend using our 70-100 grit glass bead media for aluminum.

My question is I'm using aluminum oxide to clean up tractor parts which I will epoxy primer and paint. It appears to me the aluminum is embedding in surface of the parts. Can I epoxy prime on this surface? Is that what I should expect?

Asked by: Rookie
After media blasting the parts you will simply want to thoroughly clean with our Pre Paint prep to ensure the surface is ready for Epoxy primer.
