HOW DO I MIX ATAC?
Gently mix by hand using a paint mixing stick. Do not shake to mix. Aggressive mixing can damage the microspheres. A few minutes of stirring is all that’s needed.
DOES THE SURFACE NEED ANY PREPARATION BEFORE APPLICATION OF ATAC?
Make sure the surface you are applying the ATAC coating to is prepped properly. Clean and dry, free from any contaminants. Take care of any rusted areas, do not apply over rust. You can treat the rust with a rust converter or remove it completely. Use a primer over any bare metal or rust treated areas - a red oxide primer works well. Always test the ATAC coating over any primer you are going to use. Let it dry for 48 hours and see if any lifting or reaction occurs. Lightly sand any glossy areas, prep just like you would when applying any automotive paint, making sure to clean thoroughly afterwards. The use of a shop vacuum and tack cloth is recommended. Not having a clean, dry surface will inhibit the ATAC from adhering properly.
WHAT IS THE SHELF-LIFE OF ATAC?
ATAC coating is good for 18 months from the date of manufacture. This date is printed on the container. Once open, any remaining product, if kept airtight, can be used to the printed date on the pail. Keep cool and keep from freezing.
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO APPLY ATAC?
ATAC can be sprayed or brushed on. We recommend our spray gun, part number 50209. Apply in even coats, not to excide a 12-16mil wet coat. Tape off areas you do not want to have coated. Use painters' tape and paper, or newspaper. A second coat can be applied after 12 hours. Applying thick a coat at one time can cause the coating to crack. If spraying, use the lowest air pressure that still gives you good results.
HOW LONG DOES ATAC NEED TO DRY?
Allow at least 24 hours to dry before putting anything over the ATAC coating.
CAN I PUT ATAC ON THE OUTSIDE OF MY CAR OR IN THE ENGINE BAY? CAN I PUT IT ON MY HEADERS OR EXHAUST?
ATAC is designed to be used on the interior of vehicles only. Do not apply to headers, engine parts, or exhaust components. Do not use in engine bays.
HOW DO I REMOVE ANY OVERSPRAY FROM APPLICATION OF ATAC? HOW DO I CLEAN MY SPRAY GUN/BRUSH WHEN DONE?
Use warm water to clean any brushes or spray equipment. Clean these before allowing the ATAC coating to dry. Tape off areas you do not want to have coated. Use painters' tape and paper, or newspaper.
CAN I USE ATAC ON OTHER VEHICLES, LIKE MY BOAT?
Do not use in areas that will be submerged under water, like the bilge area of a boat. It can be used in Marine applications as long as it is not submerged.
DOES ATAC NEED TO BE THINNED?
Do not thin ATAC, use directly from the pail.
WHAT MATERIALS DOES ATAC WORK WITH?
It is a good idea to test a small area before applying ATAC. Let this area sit for 48
