good price on good productthis has been on my wish list for too long! my only dislike is the duty cycle is a little short, even for a hobbyist. otherwise it's a very nice machine that does its job and works as advertised.

Not great for 18 gaugeBought this to pull some large fender dents in a 58 Sprite race car. I'm struggling to get the included 2mm pins to weld to the 18 gauge body panels- have a cup with about 50 that popped right off, even with a 2+ second weld time before the unit got too hot and tripped its internal breaker. This welder might be okay for modern cars that use thinned metal body panels, but it doesn't seem to the task for this project.
Can you use the 2.5MM draw pins with this stud welder?

This will not weld the stud on a 1998 Ram, any suggestions?
Asked by: Steven
We would recommend checking to ensure you have the unit plugged into a properly grounded outlet to start. Next step would be to make sure all the paint is removed from the area the dent is to be pulled. Finally ensure you press far enough down to have the ground ring make contact with the bare metal.

what is the duty cycle on this unit
Asked by: bugman
The duty cycle is 2%. Since you only pull the trigger for a fraction of a second to weld the stud the duty cycle is generally impossible to reach.

How long is the longest stud? What kind of weight can the stud hold? Could this be used to hang insulation?
Asked by: GBF11
Unfortunately we do not have information about the precise strength of the studs themselves, or the possibility of using them for other purposes. They meet industry standards for use in the automotive panel repair process.
