Description
The Devilbiss DAD500 Desiccant Dryer system will eliminate moisture and dirt in the air line. The first stage centrifugal filter removes oil, water, and dirt down to 5 microns. The second stage coalesce filter removes oil aerosols and dirt particles down to .01 microns. The third stage uses low dusting desiccant to trap water vapor. This unit has a 25 CFM air capacity. This unit includes the New and Improved premium desiccant by DeVilbiss that has a 51% longer life than some competitive brands. The unit also includes a built in wall mounting bracket.

the ultimate in clean dry air!
i've been running the devilbiss clean air system for some 20 years now. never an issue. this is the top end of the top shelf hardware. couple this with an in-line disposable filter, and you're off to the races. consider it an investment in quality tooling.

Over kill for my needs
I am sure that this air filter was way more than I needed. I am a woodworker that has been using a turbine for spraying. I decided to switch to compressed air for in house spraying and figured it would be a good idea to have a filter. I did not know this was going to be such a big unit. It is almost 3 foot from first stage to the end of the desiccant tank.
I was concerned that I would need an additional filter to clean the desiccant dust but it has screens in the tank around the fittings to keep the dust out. I have not sprayed anything that was very critical but the screens seem to do the job of filtering the dust.
The regulator is a very nice regulator.
The only complaint I have, the desiccant caps require a 2 1/8 inch wrench. As a woodworker, the largest box-end wrench I had was a 2 inch.

Does this unit also remove oil from the air system?
This unit certainly will remove oil from the air system. The cleansing happens in the first to stages as such: The first stage centrifugal filter removes oil, water, and dirt down to 5 microns. The second stage coalesce filter removes oil aerosols and dirt particles down to .01 microns.

Does this assembly include the regulator that's shown in the picture? I wasn't clear, as it's not mentioned in the detailed description.
