Guides & Accessories

Instructions

This machine has smart wire feeding technology to prevent forcing excessive wire into the start of the weld. When the machine is not welding and feeding wire, it will feed wire at a slow fixed speed for approximately five seconds, and then speed up to max speed. This is to quickly feed wire through the torch. Once the machine senses that it is welding it will automatically run at the preset wire speed that the user has set on the machine. Do not be alarmed when the wire feeds slowly while not welding.

Safety Information

Welding fumes and gasses can be hazardous to your health. Arc Rays can injure your eyes and burn your skin. Wear correct eye, ear, and body protection. Do not touch live electrical components! Keep your head out of the fumes. Wear breathing protection when welding.

Accessories

Weld Aluminum with a Spool Gun

Many cars and trucks have aluminum parts, or you may need to weld aluminum for a metal fabrication project, and with a spool gun you can weld 14-gauge to 1/8-inch aluminum. Quickly and easily connect or remove it as needed for working on different parts and panels. The spool gun is sold separately and is a great addition to your MIG 140 and you can check out item 20172 here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood MiG 140 welder. The mode for tack weld makes it stars. After I used it for the first time I trashed my Hobart 140 mainly because it just had 4 heat settings. If you are welding floor pans look no more. You will love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mig 140 rocks I gotta tell ya this in my first welder. I know zero about welding other then what I've read and learned online but I was tired of waiting on getting my buddy to weld stuff for me. I'll be using this for mainly sheet metal work. The chart inside the cover for tuning to specific guage sheet metal is pretty much on the money I practiced for 20 minutes on some scrap sheet metal and I laid down some nice spot welds, stitch welds and made a little flat copper tool out of 1" copper pipe that I stick on the backside of holes and filled in holes like a pro! I love this little welder can't beat it fir the money and it seems really well built. It's my first welder but if your looking for a great starter mig I'd recommend it to anyone. And Eastwood will stand behind thier stuff.

This model operates well. I have a lot to learn about welding and welding techniques, but I think the Eastwood 140 will work for all the welding jobs I'll have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MIG 140 Had been thinking about purchasing a little wire welder for years. Finally ordered one from Eastwood. It arrived well packaged in just a few days. Very easy set up. I had not used a wire machine in years but the easy setup and recommended settings had me welding in no time. Quality seems to be top notch. My first project (welding cart) is complete, number two (side rails on a utility trailer) is 90% done and I’m looking at several other jobs I’ve been putting off for years. So far I’m well pleased, my only regret is not purchasing this machine years ago…..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little welder! Picked it up a few weeks ago and have been really impressed with it so far. Have only used flux core wire so far (until I get a tank set up) on some square steel tubing and 1/8” plate. Works great! Was concerned about a 110v rig being able to produce strong welds, but after the very first use those fears were dispelled. Very happy with my new welder.
Date published: 2021-10-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great nice and smooth I used this welder to chop the top on my 54. I normal use a Miller was extremely extremely happy with this. I have been recommending it to my car buddys that say anything about buying a smaller welder. Thanks to Eastwood for tools to chop my car

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent After months of looking and comparing different brands and models, I purchased the eastwood mig 140. First of all, the welder is exceptionally light. Very easy to move around. The setup was quick and easy and took less than 10 minutes. This thing is smooth. Ive used Lincolns and Hobarts, but this thing for the price, warranty, and features, blows everyone else out of the water. It is smooth, quiet, and very lightweight. Hopefully it will last a long time, because so far I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood 140 Mig Welder As an industrial welder for over 25 years I can honestly say that I'm pleased with the results so far with this little machine. Set up is quick and easy and the weld quality is great. Having only had it for about a week, I've used it to install disk brake mounts on my sons go-kart. The primary reason for the purchase is to install floor pans in my Jeep, from what I've seen so far, it should go smoothly.

What is the warranty?

Would this be good enough to repair curb rash on aluminum rims

Asked by: Johhny
To weld aluminum you will also need the #20172 spool gun with this welder. MIG welding aluminum isn't as controllable and clean as TIG welding, which is what I believe most do for wheel repair, but I see no reason it wouldn't work. You may end up doing additional grinding and clean up compared with TIG.

Will this welder work well for replacing auto body 1/4 panels?

Asked by: rick
Yes - this welder will be excellent for auto body sheet steel work. It includes a spool of 0.023" solid wire (the ideal size for your job). All you need to get started is a 75% Argon / 25% CO2 mix welding gas bottle!

I have a Eastman 140 mig welder. When I pull the trigger to feed welder it starts slow, then pickup speed. Is this normal? I was concerned for spot welds.

Asked by: Hbennett
Yes this is normal. You will not have control of your wire speed until you strike the arc, then you can use the speed knob to adjust and it will vary to what you have it set to.

Is this welder and possibly the MiG 135 able to weld brackets, such as a 4link suspension kit, or basic shock mounts, on a rearend housing, like a ford 9inch?

Asked by: Poloreme
Either welder would have no problem welding any of your projects up to 3/16" steel material, and you can expand that capability to aluminum with our #20172 spool gun. I would recommend the MIG 140 over the MIG 135 as its a newer machine design, much lighter, easier polarity swap, and has multiple trigger modes.

What makes your 140 MIG welder better than the 135 MIG, other than the 140 being a newer model or rated +5 amps? Or,  why should I spend +$100 for the 140?

The new 140 is an inverter based machine and can be run off of a generator whereas the MIG135 is transformer based and can not be. The new 140 also has a 2t/4t feature and a tack feature whereas the 135 does not.
