Eastwood European Urethane Clearcoat plus Activator Kit makes 1.5 gallons of Premium Clearcoat for a beautiful appearance.
Make restored body panels show-worthy with our Euro clear coat and activator. Urethane clear coats are a high-build leveling formula that fills in minor imperfections from the basecoat. We’ve taken this and added the high solids content of premium European resins, which hastens the building and prevents shrink-back while producing a high-gloss shine. Mixing the clear coat 2:1 with an activator helps your topcoat dry faster so it can start protecting against UV fade and weathering. It’s compliant for use in all 50 states with our HVLP paint guns.
Apply this 2K clear coat gallon over any Eastwood single-stage urethane paint for lasting protection that looks amazing. The European clear coat and activator make 1.5 sprayable gallons to coat every square inch of your car’s body shine. You can also add a urethane reducer to further increase coverage. Watch our product video to learn more about this clear coat system. The tech team is also available seven days a week by phone or email.

Great looking after 7 yearsI've used this clear 3 times in the last 7 years and found it to flow well and color sand/polish pretty easily. I have yet to see it lift, bubble or, blister. Other reviews claim problems, IMO after 30+ years of body/paint including show cars others must have miss-used this clear.

Terrible, clear completely ruined by sun exposure in a few yearsClear doesn't hold up to UV exposure. Properly mixed, properly sprayed multiple projects and after a couple years the clear yellows, checks, and looks like absolute garbage. It's a shame Eastwood continues to sell this product - It'll ruin your project and require you to completely re-paint in a few years if your car is exposed to sun.
is there a slow activator that can be used? I will be using it in very hot climate above 80deg F.

No, not for the Eastwood European Urethane Clearcoat. The activator Eastwood 2:1 Urethane Clear Activator - 32oz
Item # 50252ZP is rated a medium. 69-79 degrees F max.

The universal clear keeps creating a "snowy" over spray on the adjacent panels. What is causing this? Mixed at 2:1 with 20% reducer, 25 psi at the nozzle, 1.3mm nozzle on the gun, 12" from surface, humidity 55%, Temperature 78 degrees and dry.
Asked by: Ward59
First I never reduce more than 5% if I'm reducing at all. I believe it is the excessive reducer.
Everything else appears to be fine.

Getting ready to spray this over your single stage urethane and have been wet sanding with 320 grit as stated on tech sheet. Now I'm reading in your answer 600-800. Confused
Asked by: Jeff
320 grit scratches are abrasive and will show if applying clear over. You will want to finish with the 600-800 grit before applying this clear.

Is this good for bumper covers? Is it flexible?
Asked by: Ken1971
This can be used on bumper covers as long as an Adhesion Promoter is used first.

What would cause this clear coat to turn to jello after about 45 minutes? It was a small job so I only mixed about 12 ounces. Waiting about 15 minutes between coats. The gun was completely gummed up. It was about 82 degrees in the garage.

"Use caution in mixing materials as HS Clear may begin to gel after approximately two
hours (at 70 °F)". The temperature had a huge effect into this matter as well as humidity probably.

Can I polish or buff the clear coat and how long should I wait after painted
Asked by: Stump
Imperfections in the surface may be cut out of Eastwood’s HS Clear with 1500 grit sandpaper after at least eight hours. Follow with 2000 grit sandpaper to remove 1500 grit sand scratches followed by compound and finishing system to restore gloss.

Used this with EW Single Stage Urethane previously with good results. This time was past the re-coat window so I wet sanded. It went on nice but after 2-3 days it still seemed soft when sanding and polishing. Would a little extra activator help it harden?
Asked by: RobJ
This needs to be mixed as instructed 2:1 (2 parts clear to 1 part activator). This mix should not be altered. If having issues please reach out to us by emailing [email protected]
