Eastwood 250 Amp MIG Welder

Product Overview:

Description

MIG Welding from Eastwood

Get the power you need for big welding jobs at a remarkably low price thanks to the Eastwood MIG 250. This is our most advanced MIG welder that can be used on 20-gauge sheet metal up to ½-inch steel plates. The infinitely adjustable knob allows you to set the amperage anywhere between 50 and 250 amps for greater control. Even at the highest setting, you can weld for up to six minutes before needing a break. State-of-the-art inverter technology means this portable Eastwood MIG welder clocks in at just 46 pounds — half that of similar welders from leading brands.

Each MIG 250 welder comes with a Trafimet ERGOPLUS24 torch and 8-foot cable and 9.5-foot ground cable to help you move around a project. It takes 4-inch or 8-inch spool wire, and with the optional MIG welder spool gun, you can also weld aluminum. Plug this Eastwood welder into any 120V or 240V North American power source to Do the Job Right on automotive restoration. We back our MIG welders with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty and lifetime tech support.

If you also need the ability to TIG or Arc weld in a single machine, you may want to consider our powerful Multi-Process MP250i Welder.

The Eastwood MIG 250 Features:

  • Welds 20 gauge steel up to ½-inch thick plate
  • 120 or 240 volt powered
  • Infinitely adjustable 50-250 amp welding range
  • 60 percent duty cycle at full 250 amp setting
  • Weighs just 46 lbs.
  • Torch Cable Length: 8 feet
  • Ground Cable Length: 9.5 feet
  • State of the art inverter technology
  • Uses 4-inch or 8-inch wire spool
  • Optional spool gun for aluminum wire
  • Trafimet ERGOPLUS24 Torch
  • 3-year manufacturer's warranty

Portability from Your Eastwood Welder

This 250-amp MIG welder is one of the most powerful portable machines on the market today. It has the ability to run on 120v or 240v, so you can plug it into nearly any existing circuitry in your garage or shop. This also means you can easily take it to the race track or job site and run it off a generator. On 120v power, you can use up to 140 amps, which is enough for most small and midsize jobs. The efficiency of the inverter means you'll still get great welds even on lower voltages or amp settings. It also can take both 4-inch and 8-inch diameter spools and feed steel or stainless steel wire from 0.023-inch to 0.045-inch. Flux core wire for outdoor welding can be between 0.030 and 0.045 inches in diameter while aluminum wire is limited to 0.030-0.035 inches. A unique wire spool mount is configured to hold either 2-pound or 10-pound spools of wire.

Everything You Need for MIG Welding

This lightweight unit ships to your door via FedEx or UPS, eliminating costly truck shipping freight fees. It comes with a Trafimet ERGOPLUS24 8-foot MIG torch and ground clamp, a shielding gas regulator and hose, extra contact tips, an 8-inch wire spool adapter, a roll of 0.030-inch steel MIG wire and other MIG 250 welding supplies for your shop. The only thing you need to add is a canister of shielding gas.

This machine has smart wire feeding technology to prevent forcing excessive wire into the start of the weld. When the machine is not welding and feeding wire, it will feed wire at a slow fixed speed for approximately five seconds, and then speed up to max speed. This is to quickly feed wire through the torch. Once the machine senses that it is welding it will automatically run at the preset wire speed that the user has set on the machine. Do not be alarmed when the wire feeds slowly while not welding.

Safety Information

Always follow manufacturer's instructions for proper safety requirements when performing welding tasks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Your Moneys Worth I’m just a DIYer, but one day my neighbor came to me asked if I could weld this pipe. I stuck it together for him and he told me to be at a job site on Monday. Payed for my welder five times over. Settings inside the hinged cover are great starting points. You can’t go wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerfull Machine Purchased a few years ago. I had an eastwood tig200 and wanted to be able to do frame and fabrication welding faster. Back when I purchased this machine it was because of the torch / consumables. The feel of the machine is great, it runs very steady, and does not stall when you turn it up; this machine has a lot of power. I have only run it on gas 75/25, keep the tip clean, and use tip dip and the consumables last quite awhile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great controls The infinite controls on wire speed and power are great! I'm able to really fine tune both controls for that perfect weld.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood 250 amp Very pleased with the Eastwood 250 amp welder. Used a miller 252 for quite a few years wanted one comparable. At a fraction of the price I went with Eastwood welder. Eastwood 250 performance is neck and neck with the top manufacturers. The welds able to lay down are just the same as miller, plenty of heat for thick metal. Feels good knowing it comes with a 3 year warranty, hopefully don’t have to change parts out in the next 5 years. Parts are available though, local welding supply store have tips for welder. Currently running .35 wire 240 volt shielding gas 75/25 argon and CO2 blend. I would recommend this welder for what I have used it for, still putting it through its paces.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Mig welder this is a nice machine for the money, stable arc, nice looking welds. Only wish it came with longer mig torch, and ground lead. Eastwood was good to deal with, so far I have not had problems where I had to contact them in regards to mig welder. Will see how machine holds up.
Date published: 2022-07-27
Rated 4 out of 5 by from As advertised Welds great! Knobs are a bit flimsy and the stock regulator isn’t the highest quality, but this machine fks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality product Has kept up good so far just wish the stinger was a little more heavy duty. Came with gauge for c-25 tank so thought that was cool!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay but... I have owned this welder for about three years now. It works well but has a few short comings. First the diffuser is BRITTLE. The first one fell apart the second time I used the machine. The second lasted for over a year with super carefull use, no drops, bangs or rough use and then just fell apart. I don't weld much so this seems like a very fragile piece. Also it does not sit firmly in place. The area it sits in is longer than the diffuser so it can move back and forth which probably assists with the fragility. Second, the leads and cord are short compared to other welders I have used. Lastly, the regulator no longer holds consistant pressure. It creeps up when you pause between welds making the start of the next weld less than optimal. All in all it works well enough and is a cheap alternative to better welders.

Can I tig weld aluminum with this machine

What do I need to run flux core in this 250 MiG

Asked by: Dean1957
Really, just a spool of flux wire itself. You can run the same contact tips and nozzle as you would with our Solid core wire and just use the smaller side of the reversible drive roller to ensure the drive roller has the best chance at grabbing the flux wire to advance it.

Asked by: CNM1
Difficulty to say exactly, but for full power/potential you would need a generator capable of around 12,000 running watts. I would estimate 5/16" or 3/8" to be the maximum with 7,200 watts.

What breaker amp is recommended for this welder? Single phase 30 amp? 40 amp? 60 amp?

Asked by: Joe schmoe
The Eastwood MIG 250 Welder requires a dedicated 240 VAC, 50 AMP, circuit breaker protected outlet. The plug installed on the Welder is a NEMA 6-50P and should be used with a NEMA 6-50R receptacle. As an alternative, by using the included Adapter Cord, the MIG 250 can be used with a 120 VAC, 20AMP, 60HZ grounded NEMA 5-15R outlet protected by a circuit breaker.
