Contains 8.6oz/243 grams of Sprayable Primer Surfacer

Instructions

Remove rust if necessary. Sand surface smooth and then clean with Eastwood PRE. Only apply on dry, dust free substrates. Before activating, shake can vigorously for 2 minutes. Next, take red button from cap and turn the can upside down to attach the button to pin on bottom of the can. With cap on, place the can upside down on a firm surface. Press red button with the ball of your hand until stops. Paint is now activated. Shake for 2 minutes before spraying. 2-5 spray passes will build a 4-28mil thickness dry film coating. Approximate can coverage is 2.7 sq. ft. at approximately 8 mil thickness.  Keep the nozzle 10 inches away from the substrate. 68-70°F: Allow 5-10 minutes of flash time between coats. Allow 1-2 hours drying time before sanding. When coating is fully cured, perform first round of sanding with P120-P180 sandpaper.  Once desired rough finish is achieved, finish sand with P240-P280 sand paper. Do not wet sand. Dry sand only. Once activated, this coating has about a 2-6 hour pot life. Higher temperatures can shorten the pot life as lower temperatures can extend pot life.

Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for touch up or small parts I used the polyster primer with a gun on the whole car. Whilst sanding, I found a couple of small dings I missed. I fixed them and used the product to prime those area. A lot easier and quicker than mixing up a small amount and spraying it with a gun. Don't have to clean the gun again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My New Go To Primer I just can't see a need to use any other primer. This will be my go to. I'm a novice self taught painter. I've used this in the cans twice and once in the quart with the hardener. Three times total and I've had 3 amazing results. My only complaint would be I wish the cans we a little larger or the price was just a little lower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, not much to use though. The can is about half of the size of any other product Eastwood sells so beware when ordering and double up. Now for the product, it's quality is top notch. Very durable.

Can i use 2k aerospray polyester primer surfacer over 2k epoxy primer ? And wen wud i do my body filler and block sand ?

Asked by: Jair
Yes, the 2K Polyester can certainly be applied over top of our 2K Epoxy primer. As far as your body filler- this can be applied under or over top of the Epoxy but before the Polyester. After applying your Polyesters and building up to the thickness desired- you would bock sand this high build primer then apply your paint.

Can I use a paint that is "not compatible with epoxy primer" over this primer? I plan to use POR-15 Metal Prep, then spot putty, then primer, then a rattlecan touchup paint. Will this primer work, or do I need a lacquer primer? Thanks.

Asked by: Joel
It would be impossible for us to say as this primer isn't an epoxy base. This is a polyester base primer. It is extremely rare for something to react with a poly primer.

Hi, have plastic centercaps that i removed crome from & now want to paint. Have had no luck in past with painting plastic( always flakes off over time) what do u reccomend to use?

Asked by: Ralphy ta
The most important step when panting plastic is to use an adhesion promoter prior to paint. This will keep the paint from flaking off in the future. Here is one we sell: https://www.eastwood.com/adhesion-promoter-aerosol-14-75-net.html

I am restoring a steering wheel using the eastwood steering wheel kit. After the PC-7 shoudl I be using this polyester primer/surfacer, then sand, then apply a 2K gloss urethane? Or do I need another primer over the polyester primer?

Asked by: Mike
The polyester primer would be perfect to both sand out minor surface imperfections but also to be the base for your paint job. Just make sure if you are painting over any plastic parts of the steering wheel that you use an adhesion promoter prior to primer.

Also, can this be applied over an area treated with rust encapsulator? Then after the top color, can you use epoxy clear coatings on top?

Asked by: hcodi
It is not recommended to apply over the Rust Encapsulator. Simply because Encapsulator is a non catalyzed product- so it defeats the purpose of using catalyzed primers such as this over top.

Is the coverage really only 2.7 sq ft? why is it so small?

You can apply color directly to this primer after you have sanded it to 400-600 grit. Clear coat should not be applied directly to primer without a color first.
