Eastwood B20 Benchtop Blast Cabinet

Product Overview:

Description

An affordable way to media blast parts without taking up much room in your shop. The smart, space efficient design of this bench top media blasting cabinet really can’t be beat.

.
  • Affordable way to media blast at home
  • Space efficient bench top design
  • Durable powder coated cabinet
  • Holds up to 25 lbs of blast media
  • Holds up to 55 lbs of parts
  • Upgraded Bright LED Lighting for Better Visibility
  • High quality gun with replaceable tips
  • Needs just 7cfm @ 90psi
  • 19in x 15in window lens
  • Full window sized tear offs
  • Fits in just 24in x 20in space

Use with 60 grit or finer blast media.

Use of Walnut shell media is not recommended.

The whole hinged top of the cabinet is both the access door, and the view window. This gives you much greater access to the inside then even some full sized cabinets. Meanwhile, you look down at your work through a big 19 inch x 15 inch screen, with full sized tear off protection (5pk #30770). Dust control is handled by hooking up any shop vacuum to the cabinet, or use it in a well ventilated area with no vacuum. The whole cabinet will take up just a 24 inch x 20 inch space in the corner of your work bench. That means you have nearly 3 cubic feet of work space to blast in. Just about any shop compressor can run it too; it needs just 7 cubic feet per minute at 90 pounds per square inch. The included high quality gun will work with a variety of media, and has replaceable ends for years of usage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cabinet for small to medium parts I bought this to blast dirt bike parts for a restoration project. Even with a slightly undersized compressor it works well. No it doesn't perform like an industrial size cabinet, but you get what you pay for. Quality wise it surpasses similar units.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific Product in a compact bench top size. I purchased this product for our small shop because we did not have a Media Blast Cabinet. It is a professional product with a compact footprint! Well designed with sturdy construction. I personally performed the assembly and the instructions were well written and easy to follow. Everything went together w/o any problems. An unexpected bonus was finding a second, completely assembled EOM spare lid with glass and protective tear away sheets affixed to it, included in the shipping box. A very nice surprise! A Very professional addition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Bottom is Tops I researched these little cabinets for awhile. Most cabinets on the market in this size have a full width v shaped bottom. Then there is a suction tube laid in the bottom. Many people complain about that setup because it often does not pickup the media. This cabinet funnels down to a single point. The pickup is screwed into this point and has a hallow bolt with suction holes in it. This design has the media collecting at a single point and that means it works. My dislike is having a screw head on the band clamps rather than a nut head. It was difficult to get the clamps tight enough on the gloves to where they would stay in place. Another dislike is that there is not a media drain. My thoughts are that there could be one. A second hole for a drain could be added near the bottom. It could be just up from the suction port hole. Then there was assembly. Everything lined up as it should. The hardware I got was complete. Some of the hardware variations were not necessary. They could pretty easily have just one size nut and bolt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Blast Cabinet for the Price I have only used commercial units at shops before. I was a little concerned about some of the reviews but when I got the unit I could see where the problems were. When assembling this cabinet, follow the directions...step by step. When they suggest silicone in certain areas....do it...and look closely to see if a little more silicone might prevent media from leaking out. I found everything fit well, overall design is good and I look forward to years of being able to blast away rust and paint from metal objects from my car restoration project. With the media added, it gets a bit heavy and hard to move. I am thinking that the extended legs might be in my future...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really nice blast cabinet I ordered this cabinet a few months ago to use for a Mach 1 I'm slowly restoring. When it arrived, the box looked beaten up, but once opened the cabinet was in great shape. I've been using it cleaning heavily rusted parts and it does a fantastic job. My advice would be to ensure you have a small shop vac to hook up to the provided pipe. I tried using it without it at first, using just the filter at the outlet, and in just a few moments I couldn't see at all. Once I hooked up my vacuum I had little issue with dust. Also to avoid clogs make sure you have very dry air going through the nozzle or it will clog. All blasters will clog with damp air, this isn't a fault with the cabinet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice unit This was my first attempt to sand blasting and I couldn't have chosen a better unit to start out my quest for this type of projects. I was totally surprised what this bench top unit could do, Very pleased with any thing I've bought from Eastwood and their help is outstanding and just a phone call away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice cabinet I bought this to clean small parts from a tractor I am rebuilding. I have not used it yet , waiting for the glass blasting medium. The cabinet went together nicely and looks great. The gloves look like they should grip very well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Support on website could be better Unit will be great once I get it together. My only complaint is that the manual wasn't available online (even HF has theirs online). If it had been, I could have built the cart for it and had it ready when the unit arrived. Because of MY schedule it'll be two or so more weeks before I can get to it. Not Eastwoods fault, just an idea for their web designers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice little shop unit Didn't realize I had to put it together, Ha! But, went together easily and quick. As a previous poster said, put a little silicone sealer in the corners, they leak a bit. I use this blaster for metal work, works very good. I built a stand for it on rollers so I can easily move it out of the way in the shop, which works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great item and good size for small shop I bought this item for doing small parts for a 1965 GTO rebuild. Insulation was easy to put together. Frist part I did took about 15 min and was ready for paint. Would have taking me hour or two using a wire wheel and holding in a vise. Paid for it self I feel the first time. its a time saver. work very well. Only thing I recommend is you put a little black RTV glue in the corner were metal meets. Make it more airtight and sand doesn't blow out. Second the tube that your wet vac hooks up to you will have to make adaptor for to make airtight. Other then that it is a great size for my shop and work very well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good Blast Cabinet. I've used this cabinet 3 times. It went together well was missing a piece but they sent that fast. Yes the glove are a pain to install and for some reason my left one has came loose 4 times and i just quit trying. I'm guessing it's because that's the arm I'm holding things in. I am thinking of getting a screw type clamp for it. They say only fill to a point but i over filled mine because I get tired of shaking material down to pickup. My other gripe is the protective cover for window doesn't stick well and gets dust between it and window. Oh and I will be getting an LED light. Otherwise out of the 3 cabinets I have access to it's not to bad.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great portable cabinet. Typical great Eastwood quality, easy to follow assembly instructions. Easy to connect and use. My carburetors look like new again! One feature I would like is a nozzle specifically sized for soda blasting as I prefer not to share dust with my neighbors. I put this bench-top unit on a rolling cart for portability. I really value the knowledgable Eastwood product support team. And all for a great price too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good little unit for the money. This is a great little bench top unit. It works well for small parts. I'm restoring an old Cub Cadet and most of the bits fit in there. The Kohler engine flywheel shroud was a bit cramped but I got it done. I do agree with one commenter that the catch basin doesn't have enough slope so the material doesn't run down to the collection point very well. I pulled the perforated grate out so that I could make sure there was always media around the collection point. I cut a piece of 1/2" plywood to use as a shelf on the left third of the cabinet and that seems to work for me. I will say that it uses a LOT of air. I have a 5HP, 22 gallon Craftsman compressor and it barely keeps up. And because it is constantly running, you also need a good water separator to keep the air dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice little blaster Nice little bench top blaster. 4 stars because the pick up hose tends to kink. I haven’t reworked it yet but some hard plumbing might be the trick. Worked around it by removing the bottom screen. Does a very nice job cleaning small parts. Be sure to add a little caulk in the corners so you don’t have leaky media like I fist had too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product Put it all together and tried it. Worked perfectly. Only complaint is the biggest paint in the butt was installing the gloves. Thanks!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost checks all the boxes Nice unit for our needs. We occasionally need to blast stuff and this cabinet does the job well. 4 stars rather than 5 because the interior light needs to be much brighter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid blaster for the price. Good blaster. I bought 2. Only issue is that the hopper angle is pretty shallow so aluminum ox media doesn’t flow into the pickup very well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good for a low price blaster I bought this Blaster in December of 2020. I am restoring a 67 El Camino with lots of rusty parts. It has worked good for most of the parts, but some are too large for this small machine. If you order this blaster order extra peel off gas covers. I have gone through about 10 of them and just ordered more. After 2 years the gun stopped sucking up the sand. I bought a new gun and it is working good again. The light is not bright enough so you may want to ad addition LEDs. I did not caulk the bottom inside corners, and it leaked a lot of sand. I went back and fixed that design issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Blast cabinet Not a bad blast cabinet. It requires a shake often, to get the media back to the bottom. It is easy to assemble, but the vacuum attachment is very difficult to get into the rubber grommet. So difficult for me in fact I had to modify it to get it to connect. Overall good though. Did not leak.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from review update I posted a 5-star review 8 months ago, some good & some bad. All the points in that review are still accurate. Shortly after posting that review I noticed that the window was crazed about 2" in on all sides. It appeared to be a defective window because it was crazed where the plastic overlay would keep media from hitting the window. The customer support representative agreed that it shouldn't have gotten crazed that easily & that they would send out a replacement. After a month I hadn't received it & contacted them again. I was told it was on back order.Their date came & went several times without the window being shipped. I was beginning to think that they were just blowing me off. Much to my surprise the window showed up today! It took over 7 months to get it, which seems like way too long. I ordered some replacement gun parts that showed up within a week or so. Hopefully if you need a part for this cabinet that they will have it in stock or arriving shortly. As others have stated, the slope in the bottom of the cabinet isn't steep enough for the media to flow easily. I decided to leave the perforated plate out, just putting my parts on the media & pushing the media towards the pickup as needed. It's a bit of a pain, but it works. If you have room for a floor-standing cabinet, it would be easier to use. I'd still recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It’s a good deal for the price I do like the cabinet , it has a quality gun however the pick up line could be longer . Also the hopper is not steep enough so you constantly have to lift and show the cabinet to get your blast media back down to the pickup . The light really needs to be brighter and replace the plastic window with glass . This thing is an air hog , I have a 60 gallon compressor which is 11.5 CFM @ 90 psi and if Iam using the blast cabinet constantly it keeps my compressor working .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great cabinet If you take your time putting it together and silicone the corners like it says, it doesn’t leak a drop of material. Everything works as it should and it does require the air they says that it requires. Great cabinet!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Product - Assembly Takes Some Time. Just purchased this. I've not yet used it, but it seems well made and goes together easily. Be sure to allow an hour or two for assembly. It's not hard, but it takes some time. Also, have a tube of RTV on hand, as it's specified in the instructions but not included.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reason why I bought and reviewed I compared this unit to similar products of size and price. I am humored by the reviewers expecting this to perform like a huge professional, "use for a living" type blaster. Two reasons why I bought this one: had a light and it was a cheaper price. I knew I wasn't going to use it a lot and therefore did not want to spend huge $$ for once in a while projects. True, you do need to put together but if you take your time and follow instructions, it will take about 2 hours and isn't bad at all. Do use silicone. The reviewers that complain about leakage,..well it's their fault. The sealing tape/foam works fine. I was concerned about the deforming the seals when tightening, but it's okay and has no leak. Some comments are correct: a) the bands should be a nut not a screw type device, b) I would fold the ends of the glove over the band first, then install, c) the light is not as bright as I would like, perhaps led as well. I would add this: 1) the ring gloves slip over to tighten the band on needs to have a lip or flange to aid in a good fit. The folks that complain about gloves slipping off? Well you are not suppose to put a lot of pressure on the gloves,...of course they would come off. The others that complained the rubber grommet for the vacuum tube being hard to install...use your head....install the grommet FIRST, the insert the tube, duh huh. Again, for the money, for the average person this is a good cabinet. My gosh, for less than $200? this is a good buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good but could be better I just received this cabinet for Christmas and wanted to share my thoughts with all. I read all the reviews before I assembled the unit and found them very helpful. Here are a few suggestions I have. The protective film on the glass should seal on the powder coated frame instead of the plexiglass. The adhesive gave way in less than 4hours of use and the media fogged up the window. I removed the film, cleaned everything and then resealed the film with wide gorilla tape. Visibility is much better and the film is secure. The dunning of the media is definitely frustrating so I just removed the tray and added a strip of wood in its place. When needed I just push the media to the suction tube. This way I can keep working. The the tall screw heads on the top corner brackets were causing air leakage so I drilled out the brackets and reinstalled with pop rivets. Another option you may consider is adding two more latches on the sides. Some customers mentioned glove issues. The clamps would be better with a hex head. Also I found that when installing the gloves I folded the gloves over the clamps 1/2 inch and then placed them over the mounting edge. Very easy this way.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice compact cabinet blaster I have only used the cabinet on some small pieces to try it out. It worked flawlessly, and expect it will do the job that I want it to do. I do have one complaint. The purchaser has to apply the foam seal to the seams when assembling- no problem. The problem is the foam seal was applied to the lid and so deformed from the way the unit is packed in the box that the lid would not seal. The cabinet does come with extra seal that I could fix the problem. I just feel you shouldn't have to fix something that you haven't used yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great cabinet,but... cabinet is great, but end of nozzle on gun was very loose due to female pipe threads being tapped too deep in the gun for nozzle to thread on tight. Had to cut about a quarter inch off the end of the gun so the nozzle would thread on tight enough to stay on even though it still is a little loose but has not come off yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Piece of Equipment Great, airtight blasting box - used to prep small firearms parts for Cerkote & GunKote - perfect size. The only reason I gave 4 stars was that there were several screws missing causing an unnecessary trip to TruValue. Once assembled, it works great.
Date published: 2015-10-26
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well worth it Good item, went together easy and works very well. I would have given it a 5 stars except for the following; the light leaves a little bit to be desired (brighter or an additional light); the shipping packaging smashed the pre-installed seal around the lid causing a leak and seal needed to be replaced right out of the box; and the instructions could probably be changed a bit. As the previous reviews said, RTV in the corners is a must and hit all corners top and bottom. When applying the foam seal, put it on the non-beveled sides for a better seal (opposite mating panel than the instrux). I have noticed that my media (80 - grit aluminum oxide) doesn't seem to fall towards the suction pick-up as rapidly as it should. This could be heavily reused media (media has also been used in a larger pressure blaster), moisture or just too fine, but a deeper V in the belly would help, but that would also increase the size. And dust collection is a must... I tried it before and after hooking to my system and it makes a world of difference.

This cabinet comes with 4 tips 2 to 5 mm would the smaller the tip require less cfm? Can you tell me the cfm each tip would require.

Asked by: Eric
Any of the tips included with this cabinet should run any of the medias we recommend (60 grit or finer so 60 or a larger number). The smaller the nozzle the more concentrated the flow will be and the larger the nozzle size selected the wider the spray or fan pattern will be. The air consumed for these will vary depending upon media selected and personal preference.

Both of your smaller cabinets say "not recommended for walnut shell media". Why is this, and is there a fix?

As stated you should use 60 grit or finer in these cabinets; so 60 or a larger number. Walnut shell is 20 grit and too coarse to run in these machines- it will clog them up.

How much media can you place in this cabinet? Your manual states " fill to 1/2" of the flange" I apologize but what is the flange, I am completely new to this. It worked just fine when I go it a few days ago, now it won't pick up the media to blast.

Asked by: Danny
The flange will be the edge that the perforated floor sits on. Make sure the media has not piled up on one side called "duning". This keeps the media away from the pick up tube. Next make sure moisture has not caused the media to clump. For further questions our customer service team will be able to assist at Orderhelp@Eastwood.com.

For optimum blasting you will want to use approximately 90 PSI. A simple regulator could be mounted right at this unit to bring the air pressure down. There are a couple of things to check. First there are 4 nozzles included. Try running the 2mm tip to reduce CFM consumption. Second ensure your air is moisture free and not making for any clumping. Third ensure you have enough media in the unit to prevent it from not falling back to the pick up.
