Using contour fillerI am a neophyte at doing body work but had absolutely no problems with this product. Just followed instructions as watched on the Eastwood videos. I did have an issue a couple of times with it setting up too quick but am sure I over did the hardener.

Good and fastExcellent product. You must use a balance to weigh out both the resin and hardener (2% by weight). If you do, it’s a reliable fast-hardening filler. Fast - like within less than a minute of work time, so use very small amounts. It cures to sandable condition in 15 min. Does require air flow out, so I use it in my paint booth. Adheres very well to both bare steel and primer.

Sands great, Easy to Mix and UseAfter using Bondo brand filler for some of the body work in recessing caddy tailights in my s10 and then trying this, the difference was night and day. Easy to tell when mixed. Filler is yellow in color and catalyst is blue. It turns a green color when mixed thoroughly. Sets up in 15 minutes or so. Sands like a dream compared to Bondo brand. I am, saving a lot more money on sand paper now and it feathers out very easy and lays down flat. It looks like the older 1 star reviews were from 9 years ago when they initially had the catalyst and filler blue and white and it was harder to tell when mixed. They have changed it now so don't worry. My only gripe is the cream harder that comes with it seams to no be enough to do the entire gallon of filler and it doesn't seem possible to get more hardner. I have about 1/4 of my gallon left of filler and and getting very low on the harder in which I have been using the recommended amount

Good fillerI really like this filler. It sands and feathers beautifully. Using the blue hardener with the yellow filler makes it easy to tell when it's thoroughly mixed and about what ratio of hardener to filler was used. The brighter the green, the quicker you have to work.

great fillerI have been using Rage Gold for years and it's expensive. I saw this on the Eastwood site and thought I would give it a try being its almost half the price as Rage Gold. I just bought one gallon of the Contour and wish I had ordered several more. The color is yellow and the hardener was blue. Spreads nice and smooth, no pin holes. I let it set a few minutes and them test it with a small piece of 40 grit. After about 10 minutes or so, I sand it and use a TIG welding rod to smack out what builds up in the paper. Sands quickly and easily. I then let it get harder and use 80 and 120 to finish.

Excellent FillerI had no issues with this filler. It goes on easily and cuts easily. If you look at previous reviews it looks like there were some activator issues at one point but mine was great. The activator that I got was blue and made the stuff go from gray to avocado green - so not a problem.

Easy to useI am relatively new to body work and I found this product easy to use. It went on easily and looked great after I sanded it. Other reviews were right, the can does arrive about half full. Also, it dried a little faster than I expected, so I had to work faster than with other body fillers that I've used before.

ReviewI’m new to body working so I sort of got sloppy with my job patching holes and dents. As for the product it lays down really well. The only issue is that it hardens really really quick. I had only probably around 20 seconds to lay all the filler down before it hardens. Once it starts to harden, it becomes useless. It had happened to me on every application so I started using less mixing and laying it down very quickly, moving on the job very quickly before applying more or sanding. At first I thought I have a good amount of time before it hardens so I mixed about have a can and soon realized I wasted half a can of body fill after it had harden in just seconds. I ended up purchasing another can and paying the shipping xtra money for shipment which cost close to $50 for one can and shipment. So work with small amounts of mixed filler so that you can complete the job without additional cost.

My rear brake drums are very deeply pitted, if I fill them with your contour filler, will the heat from braking cause the filler in the pits to fall out
Asked by: Gary
Eastwood's Contour filler is not recommended for your application due to the heat extremes. We recommend Eastwood's Lab Metal(10207Z) as this product will withstand temps as high a 350 to 400 degrees. This product can be thinned with Lab Metals Lab Solvent(10208ZP) for easier spreading and filling. Go to www.eastwood.com and type in #10207Z on the search bar for full description, photos and pricing.

At what temperature is it best to apply body filler?
Asked by: Lew40
60 degrees Fahrenheit would be the lowest temp to apply a body filler with 75 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit with low humidity being ideal so as not to trap moisture between the filler and the panel.

For the Encapsulator to do what it is designed to do- it needs to come in direct contact with the present rust. Body filler would have to be applied on top.

In your pin hole areas, if there is any rust in the pin holes, they will need to be treated with something like rust encapsulator. A better product to fill pin holes would be Metal To Metal, item #10021ZP. This product is water proof and much stronger then regular body filler.
