Description

Prepare custom parts or freshen up old ones using this 320-grit finishing wheel. The Eastwood CONTOUR SCT® Abrasive Finishing Drum is for paint or rust removal applications. As it does so, the drum also conditions metal. The 320-grit version has fine grain for light surface removal, getting bare metal ready for painting and welding or polishing to a shine. Each drum is 4 inches wide and 4 inches in diameter to fit Eastwood’s industry-leading surface conditioning tool.

We’ve designed the 21176 finishing drum to be a durable, long-lasting tool. It’s made of nylon and aluminum oxide with a top speed of 4,000 RPM for professional results. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wears grooves into finishing Drum I ought this to polish some brass parts. The parts contained some sharp edged areas and these wore grooves into the drums very quickly. Great on flat areas UT on contours too expensive to use on areas where it will cause grooves in the drum. I still had to do quite a few areas by hand sanding.

thinking of buying one, are the abrasives universal, i.e- can I buy the abrasives through msc or McMaster?

My 320 grit drum arrived today and has directional stickers on both sides of the drum. However the arrows point in opposite directions, unlike my other drums which point in the same directions. Can the 320 grit drum be used both directions?

Is there a chance that "dips" will occur in body panels requiring bondo or a heavy application of primer surfacer to smooth the panels?

As long as you keep moving and don't sit in one spot you won't have to worry about creating dips in the panel.
