40 grit stripping drumWorks great for large flat areas. Wears out quickly if you catch a sharp edge.
What drum to remove old gaskets? From valve cover, oil pans etc.
Asked by: WagonHo
This drum may be too aggressive. Use a higher grit. 80 grit may do the job.

It is an aggressive drum at 40 Grit. Depending on the material that need to be removed.
I heard form a customer who removed rust from a metal roof using the Scale stripping tool and the 40 grit.

Can u use the contour stripper on fiberglass
Asked by: Stinger314
Depending if your removing paint, off a (Example: Corvette) 40 grit may be too aggressive.
Most fiberglass surfaces have a gelcoat.
80grit may work better, without tearing into the surface.

Is there a way to clean the 40 grit drum when it gets clogged with paint, bondo, etc.
Asked by: Suprdave1
We have found our 40 Grit drum to typically self clean in most stripping applications. That being said if for some reason you do find a drum that is clogged, running along the edge of a cinderblock or other piece of masonry will remove the outer most layer of abrasive material and expose new clean abrasive material.

Why not offer a package of all of the Drums available. Then it might show all of the tasks that can be accomplished. I think the tool is worth having but the cost of individual drums could become cost prohibitive. Maybe multi packs of the most common drum

I have looked all around and I can not find anything that indicates how long the drum will last. How many panels can I expect to strip before needing to change the drum?
Asked by: Tommy
Unfortunately, we do not have an estimated life of these drums due to the extremely variable conditions these can be applied to.

We purchased a Eastwood Contour SCT® Abrasive Drum 4.5 inch 40 Grit to take the paint off a 72 Camaro. Tried it at different speeds, but it bounces s lot and only scratches the paint. Could it be really hard paint or are we doing something wrong?
Asked by: MarkB
I had the same problem while stripping my 56 Oldsmobile. Adjusting to a slower RPM and the 40 grit stripping to was a lot more effective.
