The Eastwood Contour SCT® Scale Stripping Drum is to be used when working on uneven surfaces where rust and scale needs to be removed. This drum enables you to strip frames while not having to worry about nuts or bolts destroying the abrasive drum. Each drum is 4 inches wide and 4.5 inches in diameter.
Always wear ANSI approved protection equipment when using this type of tool. Never attempt to replace a SCT Drum with unit plugged in. Make sure to fully read and understand the instruction manual for this tool before use.

SCT Drum StripperI know it’s designed for metal, but I use it to clean up reclaimed lumber. It works better than anything else I have tried and my customers love the results.

Easy to use.Works well except for the most severe stubborn rust. Works for most applications except for where a grinder and wire cup wheel may be needed.

Scale drumDidn’t seem to take paint off as well as I had hoped, the 40 grit wheel does a much better and faster job. I’ll try it on my frame and see what it does on rust
Would this wheel be appropriate for removing scale on aluminum? Without removing much parent material if any at all?
Asked by: Nick D
When working with aluminum, it's important to proceed with caution. Because aluminum is softer than steel, aggressive tools like the Scale Stripping Drum can unintentionally remove or damage the base metal. For this reason, the Scale Stripping Drum is not recommended for use on aluminum. Instead, choose Interleaf Stripping Drums, which provide effective cleaning while being gentler on the surface.

Is there a scale stripping drum made with steel wire
Asked by: Jeff
This would be the only drum option with steel wire. https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-contour-sctr-steel-wire-drum.html

Has anyone tried this for removing undercoating.
Asked by: DDilworth
The Eastwood Contour SCT is not specifically designed for removing undercoating. While it excels at stripping paint, rust, and body filler, undercoating removal may require a different approach, such as a chemical/liquid undercoating remover.

I'm looking for something that will remove Mill scale from new 11 gauge hot rolled sheet metal without damaging the steel underneath. As long as I used a light touch, will this do the trick?
Asked by: Keith
I have a customer who used this to remove light rust from a metal roof.
Depending on how much mill scale. And the only way to damage the steel is to use too much force. There are various rollers and grit available to do the job right, look them over, as there should be one that will do the job.

See our wheel selection chart here: https://www.eastwood.com/images/pdf/Contour_SCT_Drum_Chart.pdf
We have buffing wheels, but we do not have any grit higher than the 800 grit Trizact band.

I am looking to texture new pine boards to look weathered and raise the grain like sandblasting would. Would any of these drums do that?
Asked by: Jason
This is a nylon bristle drum. It would probably be the best option to generate this sort of graining on the surface in reference.
