Restoring engine covers on a CB750. Any covers that you would not recommend using this product? Knowing that it’s rated to 300°F. Thanks.

I am an auto detailer after I steam clean an engine can I use this product to dress the engine Bay motor Hoses ect. and also how hard is it to get off the over spray

Asked by: Car guy
Unfortunately this paint is only temp rated up to 300F so it could not be used directly on the motor itself. It should be fine for all other areas mentioned.

Is Eastwood Diamond Clear Satin Aerosol recommended for coating repairs done with Epoxy Resin if the surface is sanded? I'm using West System 105-B with the 207 harder. If not, can you recommend a true clear satin finish with UV protection?

Asked by: BoatManStan
The only Product that we would recommend over your fiberglass would be our Exo-Armour. Just make sure that you wipe the area with a wax and grease remover, then scuff up the fiberglass, then wipe down the area again with the wax and grease remover. Now your ready to apply the Exo-Amour.

Will this work with a highly polished 7075 Aluminum Lower and Upper receiver for an AR15 rifle? Asking for a friend.

Asked by: Jasper
As long as the surface is scuffed and wiped down with a wax and grease remover this will work fine.

I'm restoring a motorcycle and thought about using the satin clear on the wheels and the gloss clear on the frame. How well does it hold up against fuels and wheel cleaning spray?

Asked by: Cber
The Diamond clear is a lacquer based product. For a more chemical resistant product check out our Exo Amour.

Will this work for clear coating an entire car that has been stripped of paint? I want to have the whole car be bare metal and just a protective coat of clear on it.

Asked by: Teambangingonabudget
Although not designed for such a large area, the Diamond clear will adhere to bear metal. And is UV stable. So it should work.

Will it stick to highly polished aluminum trim? Does it need to be clean or etched first? What do I clean the trim with before I spray it? Does it need adhesion promoter first?

Asked by: scott wilson
You can apply this clear over your trim. No need for Adhesion Promoter. Wipe the area with Pre first, and let it gas off. You could also apply our Exo-amour Item #15350Z

On my Harley Davidson I polished up my aluminum lowers to a nice shine now since I did that it is bare metal and can oxidize can Eastwood Diamond clear put a nice clear coat on the lower so they don't oxidize

Asked by: Dyna Low Rider
While you could put this product on we would rather recommend our Exo Amour. It is much more durable for something such as a motorcycle lowers which are exposed to the elements. https://www.eastwood.com/exoarmour.html

Hello, 1988 Mustang GT turbine wheels. I have stripped the clear coat around the lip of the wheel but not the center painted parts of the wheel because they are in great shape. Can I clear over the entire wheel or only the bare metal lip areas?

Asked by: Mr G
You can apply the clear over the existing clear, just thoroughly clean the wheel, and scuff up the old clear, than apply the new coat over everything.

Will Diamond clear satin work on a bare copper flashlight body? Temp max is 120 degrees

Asked by: DasBlade66
Diamond clear will certainly work on a bare copper flashlight body. For even more durability we would recommend our Exo Amour as it is catalyzed and much more durable for the life most flashlights see. https://www.eastwood.com/exoarmour.html

I am refinishing some steel Rally wheels that were repainted with your Silver Argent and Charcoal Grey Lacquer paints and am looking for a suggestion on clear topcoating over these finishes. Is there something you recommend? Looking for a satin finish.

Asked by: Firebird Mark
This Diamond clear would be an excellent option. At this point, since you won't get a chemical bond you would just need to scuff the surface with a scuff pad and wipe with a tack rag before applying this clear.

Can you use a primer over Diamond clear that is on bare metal?

Asked by: Dan R
We have never tested a primer over Diamond Clear as it is outside the test parameters of the product. If the product is fully cured it should be possible after scuffing the Diamond Clear.

Can you paint over this diamond clear products. Because Diamond clear is non catalyzed and paint is catalyzed I wonder if that's an issue

Asked by: Dan R
It is risky coating over a non catalyzed product with a catalyzed one. Generally if you are going to try we recommend waiting at least 24 hours and putting the first 1 or 2 coats on thin to minimize a chance of reaction.

Can it be wet sanded and buffed out?

Asked by: Tommy2tone
Since this is a non catalyzed clear is really isn't the best paint to attempt to wet sand and buff. It is too easy to burn right through.

Can this product be used over enamel paint and not discolor or ruin it? Can this product be waxed/buffed after it has fully cured?

Asked by: Chris
Unfortunately since we do not sell any enamel paints we have never tested over them to guarantee any results. For the second part of this question since this is a non-catalyzed clear buffing isn't recommended. You would need a harder clear such as our 4:1 premium clear to have the ability to buff and wax.

Is this product suitable for clearing exterior parts made uncoated ABS? Is it UV protective?

Asked by: Rujack
Yes this can be used on ABS and other plastics if you first apply a Plastic Adhesion promoter: https://www.eastwood.com/adhesion-promoter-aerosol-14-75-net.html. Apply the Adhesion Promoter, wait 15-30 minutes and you can apply this Diamond clear, which is UV stable.

Is this black satin the correct OEM color for under hood brackets, air cleaner etc used on 67 Chevelle? Thx.

As this product is a clear it is not the correct black satin. The product you would want to consider is our Underhood Black. This is a 10-20% gloss which matches what most of the older cars had.
