Eastwood Dust Collection System for Blast Cabinets

Product Overview:

Description

This dust collector fits the Eastwood B60 Abrasive Blast Cabinet and many other media blasters.

  • Collects media dust for clearer view
  • Reclaims media otherwise lost
  • Keeps dust out of your shop air
  • Filter (#30999) traps particles up to 5 microns
  • Near universal fit with 2in inlet
  • Self-contained with 12a 120v motor
  • Wall or cabinet mount
  • Includes 2" hoses in both 3" and 3' lengths for cabinet or wall mount
  • 1.75 gallon dust capacity

A powerful 12 amp 120 volt motor draws the dust and loose media out of the cabinet and catches it so you can reuse it.

Using a dust collector means you can work faster too, because you’ll be able to see what you are doing without a cloud of dust filling the cabinet. You can mount this near universal dust collector to the cabinet or to the wall, then just hook the 2” inlet to the outlet of your media blaster. The replaceable filters (#30999) stop dust up to 5 microns and collect up to 1 3/4 gallons of media, which can then be added to your cabinet and reused.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent dust collector This is a serious dust collector. Will suck the gloves right into the blast cabinet. Really good materials, mounting hardware and instructions. Can't go wrong. Will likely upgrade my blast cabinet to an Eastwood product after seeing this equipment. Thanks Eastwood!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I expected Exactly what I expected when I ordered this item. It arrived on time with no damage and worked as designed once installed. Best of all I was able to purchase at a discount thru the Eastwood catalog and online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! This unit works much better that the shop vac I was trying to use. I was concerned the suction would be reduced as I had to remotely mount the unit due to space limitations, but it works perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy installation, keeps the dust clear! I bought this about 2 weeks ago. It works perfect and install on my harbor freight cabinet was as simple as drilling (8) 3/8”mounting holes and a single 2” hole for the inlet. It took about 30 minutes total. Absolutely perfect function, but 83dB is not quiet, so I would recommend ear protection. Along with the Eastwood foot pedal and gun I ordered, it’s now a really good working sandblaster! Great Value

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dust Collection for Blast Cabinet Very Nice system built well and quiet Looks great in my shop next to my Eastwood blast cabinet best thing is no more dust all over the shop. I used 2 1.1/2" PVC DWV street 90* to connect the hose from one to the other it was a press fit on the hub side to Vac and Cabinet both that is very tight and leak free. Very Pleased with this system compared to my Shop Vac which is really no comparison at all Eastwood to the rescue again. Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Initial thought on new install I had a Shop vac hooked to a dust deputy. Worked well but took up a lot of space. I ordered this and it arrived in 4 days ... nice. Well packed and easy to follow instructions. Mounted it on the wall just off to the side of cabinet. Didn't have to change out anything, just hooked it up to the cabinet and dust deputy. I run a master 2 gang outlet box with wall light flip switch to turn everything on -off so no issue with vacuum on off covered switch. Suction works great and I think the Shop Vac was louder. So far very happy with this item. Kind of wish Eastwood would add a long nose and dual purpose sell it as a garage wall mounted vacumm. Even better would be to add a hose connection exhaust. Anything you find online has no suction, and cost 2 to 3 times more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like its fit, right on my Cabinet ! Bought 2 months ago to install on my Cabinet. It works better than my shop vacuum and easier to empty and clean. Really shines with Glass bead, I can see what I'm doing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should be sold as a package, its that good TThis set up hooked to back of the cabinet as pictured, is amazing and works better than any shop Vac. I cant believe I waited to buy it. Just seeing clearly makes the work go much faster! . This Dust collector makes this Home cabinet a pro cabinet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Very Well This is a must have for your blasting cabinet. It only weighs around 40 lbs, its mostly assembled and really easy to mount on cabinet or wall. Its easy to maintain and not louder then a shop vac. I'm using this with my Eastwood Modular Blasting Cabinet and it works really well. It keeps all the dust out of the cabinet, to give me a clear view of what I'm blasting. I did have to drill some hose to attached the 2 inch. hose port on the rear of my blast cabinet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm impressed!!! Just installed this on my HF blast cabinet (with a little aftermarket engineering to the cabinet) and gave it a test run. It works great! It actually pulls so much vacuum that it reviled some small air leaks in the corners of my cabinet by making the media blow away because of the air being pulled through!!! And no, it didn't suck in the side of the cabinet - not that strong! And as far as other reviews that complain about it being to loud... I just have to shake my head! Would you feel the need top write a review about a shop vac being to loud? Because that essentially what this is... a tall, skinny mounted shop vac! ITS NOT THAT LOUD!!!!!! If your worried about the noise this thing makes ... maybe you shouldn't be doing the kind of work requiring it. Anyway, If you are looking for a blast cabinet dust collector, you will not be disappointed with this unit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Research paid off I did a lot of research before I purchased this unit. I found units that were cheaper, and some more expensive. I read the reviews, but I was new to sandblasting. I have dealt with Eastwood and know the quality products and excellent customer service they provide. I purchased the unit and a bag of crushed glass. I was not disappointed. The quality of the unit and even the hardware is outstanding. I mounted the unit on the wall next to my SB cabinet. It clears the dust in seconds and contrary to one of the reviews is quieter than my shop vac. It is easy to disassemble and clean, and I like the large filter, and the fact I can purchase a new filter when needed. Once again, a pleasure dealing with Eastwood

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Pleased Purchased this for the Eastwood Blast Cabinet I purchased. Arrived quickly. Packaged very well. I mounted this on a wall about 20 feet from Blast Cabinet and ran 1 1/2" PVC. Very well pleased. By mounting away from Blast Cabinet I don't have the noise around me or any chance of dust in my work area. (don't get dust outside of cabinet but I didn't know what to expect) Price was good comparing to other Dust Collectors on the market and this Collector is very well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Suction BUT VERY NOSEY Sure cleans the compartment but almost need ear plugs
Date published: 2015-10-20
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Too Good Very easy to wall mount install, why do they include 40 mounting bolts when you only need 6? It sucks so hard that it sucks the window plastics down and creates a huge gap between my glass and the plastic attracting extra dust in the window area. If I could get it to run at half speed it would be awesome. It is very loud. I hope to introduce a voltage reducer to it to slow it down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value. This is a great addition to the mid point Eastwood blast cabinet. I installed hard pipe to replace the supplied hose. The filter element should have a foam outter pre filter. Blasting with the finer glass bead is hard on the element. Never the less a great system for the blast cabinet. Put a tee in the inlet pipe and it works even better as a vacuum to clean up arround the blast area.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stronger than a shop vac The unit is stronger than the shop vac that we were using previously. It is also slightly quieter than the shop vac. We have it hooked up to a Dust Deputy cyclone to pre-filter the air and overall it seems to be working well. The instructions were very short and didn't explain all of the features as well as they could have, but overall this seems like a good upgrade from a shop vac.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Vacuum needs better mounting options The dust collection system does a great job collecting the media and keeping the visibility good. The one thing that this needs is a way to attach it to the side of the unit vis the back or a wall. I believe that the unit could or even should be mounted on the side of the cabinet as it reduces the depth of the cabinet by over 15 inches and makes it much easier to empty and replace/clean the filter. I think that Eastwood should offer an option of attaching it to the side of the cabinet and this can be done using metal cross supports between the side legs. This give the unit the perfect location and makes it easy to operate and clean. The last feature that should be added or available would be a single switch that would turn on the vacuum, light, and compressor this would make using the cabinet a single operation and everything would be on. Other than these options the vacuum works great is pretty quite and keeps the visibility good inside the cabinet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One issue with the instructions mounting template Had the vac for a short time and so far it works well. I mounted it to the back of my Eastwood cabinet and used the mounting template without double checking the distance between the flanges welded on the vacuum. I drilled all the holes perfect again according to the template. Had to make a small clearance in the top bracket for one of the exhaust baffle screws but that was no big deal. The big deal was after mounting the brackets I discovered the spacing between the top and bottom bracket was a half inch to much... .560 to be exact. Even with the large clearance holes it said to drill there was still not enough slop to take up a half inch of space. Instead of slotting the bracket, re-drilling new holes and plugging the old I filled the space with a few nuts I had laying around and used longer bolts to finish the install. That was disappointing. Looking at the instruction manual the color of the unit has changed with the newer ones which I received (old light blue, new dark blue) and too possibly the flange spacing on the vac itself but no change to the mounting template. Check your spacing between the top and bottom flange and compare to the template before using it as a guide for drill the holes so you too don't end up with spacers between the flange and bracket. Other than the mounting template not being completely accurate I'm happy with the operation of the vacuum. The color of my cabinet is the lighter blue and the vac is the new Eastwood color of dark blue but it still looks good together. I can't give a 5 star rating due to the mounting templates lack of accuracy in the spacing of the top to bottom brackets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dust Collection System I purchased this system to augment my Eastwood Modular blast cabinet #20464 which is mounted on a steel utility cart. Modifications to mount were minor and complete retrofit took less than one hour. Collection system works well and up to expectations. Overall, this system is a great investment and well worth the cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great! I installed this on my Harbor Freight blast cabinet. Works like a champ. Great suction, very powerful. Had to do some minor mods to the cabinet to get it installed. Keeps the dust from obscuring the item being blasted. Its a bit loud. But I will be purchasing a second one to convert into a central dust collection system with a cyclone dust separator.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dust collector pros and cons I installed the unit to the back of my cabinet as per instructions. I then ran the unit for a few minutes and noticed that I had some media dust accumulating on the top of the cabinet - the dust is leaking past the foam seal around the perimeter of the motor housing. this is easily fixed by installing a better quality seal/gasket. As far as noise it is about 6 decibels quitter than my shopvac I was using previously. After about one hour of use - the on/off switch on the unit would not turn off when pressing it - need to repeat pressing several times to work. I will contact customer service to ask for a new switch - if the new switch has problems I will simply purchase a better quality switch. Overall - it does a good job of keeping the cabinet interior clean.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dust collector Don't normally do reviews, but other than the switch not lasting more than the first day.I contacted costumer service right of way ,they are sending me a new switch.Claimed that there have been issues with the switch .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall good addition to my sand blast cabinet Purchased this unit based on price and reviews. Totally agree with other reviews that the switch could be better However overall product is a great value!
Date published: 2016-08-04
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dust vac I purchased this product for our blast cabinet. It is powerful, almost too much. It will draw your media out of the air when in use. Make sure you collect it from the bottom of the unit, or you will spend more money on new media. I may fab up some sort of a shield to draw the dust out of the rear of the cabinet. I'm not impressed with the on/ off switch. Mine sticks in either position, not being able to turn it on or off. It should be able to be retrofitted with a simple toggle switch though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made First, The vac was very well packaged for shipping. Double wall box, three plastic straps, all the box corners were reinforced.I bought this vac for my Magnum Air blast cabinet. My cabinet has a 2 1/2 inch outlet for the vac hose. I made an adapter to mount the two inch hose connector that came with the vac. I made brackets and mounted the vac on the cabinet legs. I found mounting the vac on the side of my cabinet made the vac too high. The exhaust from the vac blew right in my face. The lower mounting solved the problem of the fan exhaust blowing in my face while using the blast cabinet. Also makes servicing the filter easier. You can mount the vac by yourself it you remove the motor and filter housing. makes it much lighter. The vac is easy to install. Need only a few tools. Came with a lot of fasteners. It does not seem to me that the vac is all that loud. It is not any louder than the 1970's shop vac I was using. The vac is very well made. There are two things I would change. First, The on-off switch to me seems cheap. It has a flimsy plastic cover that you must flip up first to push the button. I don't think the plastic cover will last long. If the switch goes bad. It would be an easy fix to change to a toggle switch. Second thing I see is the motor and filter housing is held to the base with two clamps and hooks. The base should have hooks placed about every four inches so you could turn the top and position the on-off switch where you want it. The vac works very well. Takes only seconds for all the dust to disappear while blasting. I use glass beads. The dust stays in the filter and the beads collect in the bottom of the vac. The beads can be removed by opening the small door on the bottom of the vac and reused. Should pay for it's self by saving and reusing the glass beads. I ordered an extra filter along with the vac. It would be nice if Eastwood could offer replacement parts like a bearing and brush kit for the motor and replacement flexible hose.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works good I mounted it on a large Harbor Freight blast cabinet. One item that must be addressed is the need for an additional inlet so the unit can draw air through. Without this the collector will darn near collapse the sides,top,etc.....the only other downside is the unit is a bit loud. Think shopvac level of noise.... Other than that, if you use the unit for several hours you will need to clean the collector daily to recoup blast media(3-4 lbsof it)
Date published: 2015-10-24
Rated 3 out of 5 by from The collector is ok when it is usable but........ I have been trying to get a replacement filter for almost a year and every time I come to the website they have pushed the in stock date a few more months. Collector sits useless without a new filter so I guess I will need to find a different brand collector that i can get replacement parts when needed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay for the money After looking around online for a dust collector I decided to try Eastwood’s. I should have known by the price that it wasn’t US made, but here it is. It works okay, but doesn’t quite keep up with my blasting cabinet. (36”X24”) But what I’m really not happy about is Eastwood sending me an email telling me they’re now selling the same product with a 10% discount! Great marketing.

Questions & Answers

Could this dust collection system be used for welding smoke and grinding dust in small fabshop?

Asked by: Ironthorn
It is not recommended to use the Eastwood Dust Collector (30998) for operations other than sand blast cabinet work. The introduction of hot sparks from grinding operations could possibly lead to fire or explosion. Welding operations are required to be vented to the outdoors. The Dust collector (30998) does not have a filter suitable for the removal of welding smoke.

Will filter #30998 fit and function in Eastwood media blaster Model # FT38; Serial # L638; dated 6/8/06? Can this filter be cleaned with compressed air and continue to function?

Asked by: Duncan
This filter is not a direct fit replacement for other blast cabinets. The dimensions of the filter is 7" in diameter and 13" tall. For safety and health reasons, we don't recommend blowing out filters.

Researching these vacuums and needing one that removes nearly 100% of the residue. Will this unit accomplish that. Thanks.

Although this greatly enhances viewing purposes by collecting the media and reducing dust it will not remove any where near 100% of the residue/ dust in general. We apologize for the inconvenience.
