Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value! While building a new VW engine I decided to sand smooth the rough aftermarket intake manifolds. With a half dozen files and sanding blocks, the passenger side manifold took about 12 hours to get smooth. Then the Eastwood Mini Belt Sander arrived and I tackled the driver side manifold in 2 hours!

How far does the moving part of the belt extend from the motor housing/tensioning wheel etc? I need to sand inside a 1.25" receiver hitch and I read that some other models won't go in far enough.

Asked by: John
The length of the arm 5" long from tip to base

The Eastwood Mini Belt Sander, the sanding belt is 1/2" wide, I understand that. But what is the depth of the arm at the tip? I have doors with louvers that this would work great for, if the arm isn't too large to fit between in the louver openings.

Asked by: Project358
The Thickness of the arm is 5/8"

can this units arm be switched with a Dynafile / Dyabrade arms

Asked by: Tomsign
We test for these units to be used as is. Doing so would be modifying the unit and voiding the warranty.

I found the tool is better balanced for me with the sanding arm to the right of the tool body.  Does this affect the tool’s sanding ability since the belt’s rotation is now cc.   Does the tool have a warranty period?

Asked by: Snave
This will not negatively affect the tools sanding ability and this item has a 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects from the original purchase date.

Can this sander be used on wood floors?...Looking for an electric sander to reach under the edge of kitchen cabinets to sand floors..I also need a more coarse grit of sanding belt like 36 grit

Asked by: tidd52
There is no reason you couldn't use this on a wooden floor. It simply has a small contact area. As for a more aggressive belt we don't have this but since these are a very common size a quick internet search should be able to turn up what you're looking for.

Is the sanding arm made of metal or plastic? I have seen others made of plastic melt and/or deform.

Asked by: Chuck
Ours is made of Metal
