Great Value!
While building a new VW engine I decided to sand smooth the rough aftermarket intake manifolds. With a half dozen files and sanding blocks, the passenger side manifold took about 12 hours to get smooth. Then the Eastwood Mini Belt Sander arrived and I tackled the driver side manifold in 2 hours!

Built well
Although, as woodworker I've used it only sporadically it works really well. It's heavy but many good tools are. Be careful (esp. woodworkers) this gizmo takes off a whole bunch of stock at a time ... way more than any other sander (orbital, belt. etc.). The instructions should say that the swivel tightening screw works well but only needs to be turned-in a tad of the way. In fact, if you over-tighten it actually doesn't keep arm stationary. This motor puts out way more power/revs. than any other ... @ lower price. It seems you will be handing this sander down to your
grand-kids after you kick!

Just Right
I bought this mini belt sander for my church woodworking project making small handheld comfort crosses. Sander was heavier than expected but was very powerful in sanding. My work time was cut in half versus the rotary tool which I had been using.

Nice unit
Has the power to be an aggressive sander, could be better with a variable speed though.

A Must Have...
I had been looking for and electric belt sander for sometime to take to our Metal Work Shop, without needing compressed air. This is a great tool, I’ve only had it since Spring Carlisle show, and have been putting it threw its paces. It’s very convenient, for metal finishing in tight or square corners.

Mini belt sander works great
This sander works great where other sanders/grinders cannot reach. I need to find belts that will last longer on fresh welds...

Can't go wrong
You need this if you don't have a large compressor setup. Grind down welds fast with the right belt. The adjustable head helps you get into awkward/tight spots. For the price, it's a must have tool.

Works good...Power Switch not the greatest
Works good. Haven't had too many welds to sand down yet. The only problem I have experienced so far is the power switch. Not the easiest on/off switch I have ever used.

Good tool - limited life
Great tool but wheel on the arm eventually wears out and there seems to be no replacement parts.

Does a good job
This works well in tight spaces to clean up welds. The belt adjustment is somewhat sensitive and stiff. But once it's adjusted correctly, the belt stays on and doesn't fall off.

Works great
I bought this about a month ago and have used it on a project car of mine. Works excellent. Only downfall is it’s loud and not variable speed.

Good Power
Seems to be fine so far. Only comment is the tension lever is a little too long and hits the motor housing when in the operating position causing the belt to come off under pressure. After I filed it down a little it worked beyond expectations. (Probably voided my warranty) It only comes with one belt. I would recommend it to others, there may be better ones out there but for the price it is a good value.

No replacement parts
Sander works fine, however the little rubber wheel is worn from use. Eastwood does not sell a replacement arm / wheel.

Decent, but not great
I'm a nearly 20-year Eastwood customer. My wife bought this tool for me as a gift instead of the much more expensive Makita finger sander I was eyeing. This head rotation mechanism feels cheap, but the sander works adequately for the minimal investment (paid just under $35). The original belt did fail prematurely at the seam after very minimal use, and the second belt already looks like it may be heading in that direction after some very light, 10-minute use today. If you're just looking for a one-in-a-great-while tool, this should be fine. If you regularly do fabrication work, I'd probably suggest looking at a better-quality unit.

mini belt sander.
sander works fantastic. only issue is the foam inserts on the bar melted away after only an hour of use which causes the belts to occasionally slip off while using.

Issues right out of the box
Out of the box the adjustment knobs seem to have been stripped. Used it a few times and the rubber on the fwd wheel fell off now the belts don’t stay on at all.

Junk
The belt tensioning process is junk. You have to have the lever perfectly up and down. Switch left or right loosens the belt. Waste of $60 bucks. You wanna make things right Eastwood ? Make a better product. I’ll gladly sample it and tell the truth for you. Only buy if you like resetting the sand belt every two minutes

Tensioner bad design
Not worth the money. Belt tensioner wouldn't adjust after trading out the very first belt. I fought with it and ended up tossing the whole thing in the garbage. Bad design in my opinion

Questions & Answers
Can this sander be used on wood floors?...Looking for an electric sander to reach under the edge of kitchen cabinets to sand floors..I also need a more coarse grit of sanding belt like 36 grit
There is no reason you couldn't use this on a wooden floor. It simply has a small contact area. As for a more aggressive belt we don't have this but since these are a very common size a quick internet search should be able to turn up what you're looking for.

Is the sanding arm made of metal or plastic? I have seen others made of plastic melt and/or deform.
Ours is made of Metal
