Paint is the first thing people notice, and the basis for a great paint job is great bodywork. The Eastwood Contour DSB System will allow you to get the results you want with the benefit of almost no dust. The saying goes "90% of the body filler ends up on the floor", and anyone who has sanded filler knows that is completely true. But when you use the DSB System it ends up in your shop vacuum rather than on your clothes, everything in your shop and getting tracked all over the garage and house.

Specially designed Contour DSB Sandpaper has holes that align perfectly with the holes in the sanding blocks. Paper is available in seven standard grits from 40 to 400 and is designed for dry sanding and getting the best finish in filler and primers. When sanding body filler start with 40 or 80 grit and progress through finer grits. Sandpaper is available by clicking Eastwood Elite Contour DSB Dustless Sandpaper.

What sandpaper do I need to use with these sanding blocks?

What is Dustless Sanding?

Dustless sanding uses a specially designed block with holes that align with holes in sandpaper. A hose connects the sanding block to a shop vacuum with an adapter to match the hose sizes. A regulator in the hose line allows you to adjust suction to get the best results no matter the substrate or grit of sandpaper you are using.

What are the benefits of dustless sanding?

Anyone who has sanded bodyfiller and primer knows that almost all of it ends up on the floor, your clothes as well as on everything near the car. And we didn't even mention how it gets tracked all through the garage and house. Because the Eastwood Elite DSB System captures 95% of the dust, there is almost none on the floor or on your clothes. It's amazing how clean everything stays compared to using a standard sanding block.

Can I use the DSB System on Drywall?

Absolutely. It's been tested and used on drywall with great results. Just make sure you use the finer grits of sandpaper when sanding.

How long does the sandpaper last?

The PSA Sandpaper for the Contour Elite DSB Sanding Blocks lasts about twice as long as normal PSA sandpaper. I know that you're thinking that because there are holes, there is less surface area for sanding and it probably doesn't last as long. But because the vacuum system quickly removes any dust it's not able to build up and clog the sandpaper. This lengthens the lifespan of the paper and it also saves you time because you don't have to constantly stop sanding to try to unclog your paper. The vacuum system keeps the paper clean so it quickly and easily removes material as you sand.

How many rolls of sandpaper do I need to sand a car?

This really depends on the size of the vehicle and the substrate you're sanding. A standard car with a typical amount of body filler to get panels straight and fill imperfections will take about one roll. Remember you will need multiple grits to get a good paintable surface. You will start with a lower grit like 40 or 80 and then work through some finer grits because the finer grits will remove the scratches left by the heavier grits.

Larger vehicles could take more than one roll per grit. Also, if there is a lot of bodyfiller, that could lead to more rolls being used. But you will use less sandpaper than when using standard sanding blocks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by John from Works as advertised I'm very impressed rather it be the strength of the vacuum I'm using or not the Eastwood dustless sanding blocks work as advertised and seriously cut down the amount of dust one deals with when blocking a car. One word of advice is to use as small a block as feasible on the panel you're working on as there's no need for the larger block on smaller panels as long as you use a cross hatch pattern, this cuts out a great deal of effort as the difference between the larger block and the smaller is substantial but regardless the system works great and indeed the paper lasts substantially longer as advertised

Rated 1 out of 5 by HDMC from Gimmick Tried two different shop vacs and recommendations in instructions and could not get a good enough suction to pickup dust before it falls on the floor. PSA on sand paper has a pretty poor bond and would easily release from the sanding blocks. Blocks are not as flexible as dura blocks over body features. Not worth it over traditional block sanding, just deal with the cleanup.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TimmyS from Dusty sanding system I bought this set up on the pre order. I knew I had a lot of body work coming up and liked the idea of dustless. I finally got to the blocking time. I would have been happy with less dust even of it wasnt dustless. However that isn't in the cards with this set up. You can have vacuum all the way up to the block but it leaves dist everywhere. I am out about 400 dollars for a fancy couple of blocks and sandpaper with holes all through it. It looks like it's back to the dura block and cleaning up after. Save yourself some money and avoid it at all costs. Do not recommend.
