Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great results Tested it on some parts to get used to it and then found the Quick Setup Guide video and instruction sheet on the web page. That made a huge difference and really helped me get the unit dialed in. Now I'm getting great results like I did from the pro powder gun I used at my buddie's powder coating business. You won't be disappointed in this gun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely a good system love this powder coat system vary easy clean up, nice even lays. This thing is powerful i use it every day i definitely recommend this to any company or anyone at home I would say the price is right for this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I've been using this for about 2 months now and I'm loving it! Coverage is great, its easy to use, and the 2 lb hopper makes small change over easy. I haven't used the standard 5 lb hopper yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best purchases we've ever made We purchased this unit shortly after it's release, and have been so happy with the results. We started powdercoating around 18 months ago with the Eastwood Original DIY gun. That system was a great place to start, but we quickly found that color changes were becoming a constraint for us - we generally shoot 4 or 5 colors per day. When the PCS-1000 was released, we decided to give it a shot, and it has been everything we hoped for. 1) Build quality and packaging were very impressive 2) The larger powder capacity vs. the DIY gun is a huge plus. Also, it's much easier to use since you're not carrying the powder around on the gun itself. 3) The electronic switch in the gun automatically switches on the air and the electrical charge with one button - no more switch in your offhand to control the power. This frees up your other hand for rotating parts, etc 4) This is anecdotal, but it seems much safer. I have been unable to cause a spark against a part, even if I bring the gun too close. Our previous gun had potential to spark, and since powder can be flammable we are glad the PCS-1000 seems to have some additional protection from that 5) The voltage is fully adjustable - previously we had "high" or "low", but now we can set voltage anywhere we need. 6) There are like 1000 (exaggeration) different nozzle choices. Seriously, you should have no problem finding the perfect nozzle for your job in the kit. 7) The best part of all - this system is totally a professional platform, and because of that we have been able to do things like build our own quick-change system to cut our changeover times even further. We added one 2lb hopper per color (black lives in the 5lb hopper since we use more of it than any other color). We added a set of hoses for each hopper, which means we don't need to clean the hose between colors. We have been absolutely amazed at the quality and performance of this system, and it has been an absolutely perfect fit for our business. The only improvement I would suggest is a manual bypass switch for the fluidizing air - that way we could set the fluidizing pressure without turning down the gun air pressure. Also, I'd like to be able to turn the fluidizing pressure off when using a 2lb hopper without having to adjust the regulator. We can add that as a simple ball valve between the unit and the hopper though, so no big deal there!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from PCS-1000 Unit Seems to be a good unit, the lack of documentation for starting points or examples on where to set the air pressure / KV is why I'm giving it 3 stars. Eastwood needs to make a setup video for this unit on how to get started.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from PCS-1000 Powder Coat system I purchased the PCS-1000 powder coat system in January of 2020 for our model shop. We were really happy with the results compared to the other powder coat guns we have used. We had better coverage on the heavier steel parts and it was more even. The trigger is sticky, it needs a larger return spring. Unfortunately around April 20,2021 our powder coat system is not working. It will not apply a charge to the powder/parts.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Absolutely horrible Not only did this gun crap out on me the 2nd time using it but I knew it wouldn’t be just the gun but yet they insisted on sending a new gun which took 5 days to receive and sure enough it did not fix the problem. So now they are sending me a whole new unit but will not over night it to me. I have pushed back customers already and now I have to do it again when people need their stuff for the weekend. So now I will be loosing a few customers I’d imagine. They have over night a whole system to someone before but I don’t get that option I guess. Not really fair in my opinion. The gun overall is okay compared to my last gun, I think the price is a little high and also the customer service sucks right now because they don’t know how to fix the problems, they just send new units out
Date published: 2020-09-09
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pretty poor for the price So far, not impressed. Definitely don't like the fact that it has to have a direct earth ground, a wall plug isn't sufficient. The look of a professional metal gun is really just plastic. The hoppers are a nice feature. Like another user has said in his review videos, not too excited about when you pull the trigger, you can see and feel the static going through your body, which also attracts the powder.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from great price I've been using this machine for over 4 months. and I'll continue to use use it until i save and buy something better. I wouldn't call this a professional system. more like an intermediate system to get your feet wet before a serious system. major flaws with the dials. they're completely useless!!!! they meant for much greater pressures and will never register. the 5lbs fluidizing hopper is a complete bust!!! thing spits out powder and won't even allow the powder to come out smooth. DO NOT USE!!!!! it will ruin your job no matter how hard your try. the gun is light and cheaply made!!! only thing I can say about this system is the 2lbs hoppers those are 5 star all day!!! but have to purchase separate and also the KV setting. then again who knows how much you're really getting when you have analog dial. this system had great intensions but poorly built and tested. only giving it 2 stars due to the GREAT customer support!!! Eastwood is unmatched when is come to support!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good machine, terrible fittings. The fittings on this machine can be broken at the threads from hand tightening. Getting the replacements in a timely manner so your entire business isn’t at a standstill, is even more of a problem. Customer service is on this issue is worse than the fittings. Wouldn’t waste my money or time with them. I expect much more when I spend close to a grand on one product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good system. Very frustrating to use. If hopper is filled, powder will flow uncontrollably. If a filled with a pound powder will not come out unless hopper is shaken very hard. Very difficult to achieve consistent results. Trigger on gun sticks in the on position. Ground clamp is sodered on very poorly. Not a very good powder coating system for the money. Read online and educate yourself of other systems before buying this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy. I bought this gun to upgrade from my Dual voltage gun. It definitely is an upgrade from that, but is no where near a professional quality gun. Powder surges when 1 pound of powder is filled in the included 5 pound hopper, and when you fill with 1/2 pound the powder doesn’t want to come out. Powder does not like to stick very well. I added a 3/8 ground rod to my shop and ground the parts to the rod, this helped substantially. The hopper is built very cheaply, one fall of the lid and the powder pickup is broken. If your planning on buying this unit, Don’t! Save your self from the headaches and buy Columbia.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from new powder system. having a vey hard time with the 5 pound hopper, the air pressure is all over the place. the powder puffs when ever you pull the trigger, the 2 pound hopper is better but also the set up is very touchy. not happy at all with the 5 pound and will not be using it any more, i will have to order more 2 pound hoppers to get any use out of this gun! i have an expensive wagner and i use your $99 gun for all the small stuff

Rated 1 out of 5 by from PCs-1000 not worth. Half of the price Called tech support ,had me send pics of the set up this unit does not perform as a $1000 system should ..doesn' cover up faraday spots and not capable of 2 stage without wasting a ton of material
Date published: 2021-06-17
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Product/Don't Buy We have had this less than a year. The pressure knob won't work now--out of the blue. It turns and won't regulate pressure. There's no replacement part. Good luck calling Eastwood as their technical support is all over the map--they have reps that will act as if they're experts even if they've never worked a particular product. We powder coat every few days and needed a reliable system. Yes, we know how to set a powder coat gun up. This felt cheap from the beginning but we kept using it because it was such a big expense. Turns out we should have bought another brand. I would have gladly spent more for a quality, reliable product. Turns out a lot of others have had this issue. Check FB PC groups. Buyer beware.
Date published: 2021-03-22
Rated 1 out of 5 by from They ought to quit selling them Read the other reviews. The fact that the company is defensive and responding to negative reviews stating “the user didn’t set it up correctly” is absurd. Go on a pc group on fb and ask. There’s a reason everybody refers to them as the pos1000. Any time the subject comes up, nine out of ten people say they sent theirs back for a kool koat. Good luck.
Date published: 2021-03-07
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I desperately wanted to love this I was so surprised how cheap this unit was. After how much Eastwood talked it up I was expecting similar quality to the kool koat. 1:gun is very cheap plastic (Despite quality appearance in pictures), trigger would stick on and would not come out. 2:the regulators aren’t secured in the box and spin freely 3:the gauges don’t read until you have a good 30 psi (they claim they were improperly calibrated). 4:the gun spits and surges powder and does not lay evenly 5:the fluidizing hopper is horrible. Sorry Eastwood I really wanted to love this thing but this is a joke. This unit should be priced at 300 at best. This is slightly better than the dual voltage. I sent mine back and decided to get the kool koat 2.0 dpw and I love it. Night and day difference. Eastwood needs to pull this product and improve it or scrap it all together cause 90 percent of the people I talk to have sent them back. One of the YouTube coaters wanted to buy one for a comparison video and Eastwood wouldn’t sell them one. They don’t want their product compared to others. That tells you everything you need to know.
Date published: 2020-10-23
Rated 1 out of 5 by from DIDN'T WORK ..VERY CHEAP FEEL ..VERY DISAPPOINTED out of 5 VERY DISAPPOINTED Brough this after seeing it on YouTube ....BIG mistake .....After receiving it i carefully unpacked it and read all instructions and took my time setting it up ..at this point was very disappointed with the quality ....connected up airline and power then filled the hopper with powder switched on then tried to increase air pressure up via both front mounted regulators NOTHING both dials read zero.......regulators have a very cheap feel to them there not even tightened propely as whole regulator turns ...Checked all connectors and leads AGAIN still nothing .....after mucking around I gave up after 2 hours and boxed it all backed up and will be returning for a refund......absolute rubbish... spend abit more and buy a decent machine because this is far from the professional machine Eastwood claims

Here is a link to a bunch of great articles and videos that will get you started in powder coating. https://www.eastwood.com/hotcoat-powder-coating/powder-coating-video-articles.html Short answer of what the minimum you need: Powder gun Compressor Oven capable of 400F Powder PRE cleaning prep or acetone (for wiping parts down prior to applying powder) Bare, clean metal part (if your part is not bare, clean metal, you'll need to have a way to strip it to bare clean metal). Blow gun (for cleaning out gun when changing colors) Other items I recommend: IR Thermometer Hanging Wire Silicone Plugs, High temp tape, aluminum foil (for masking parts)

Is there a smaller canister than the 2lb one? Most of the stuff I do requires a fraction of a pound of powder and then I switch to another color. How easy is that to do?

Asked by: Ken1962
The 2lb is the smallest hopper size we have available currently. However, It is rather easy to switch between colors on the system just blow out the system after you're done with the one color to make sure you do not have that color in the lines.

I use the dual voltage powder coating system I can't use Hotcoat Powder Coat Metallic Blue powder with. The metal particles just plop off the tip of my gun. Does the PCS1000 apply Hotcoat Powder Coat Metallic Blue?

Asked by: Doug
Yes, since our new Elite PCS-1000 Powder System has a fluidizing hopper- it is makes applying metallic powders especially, ideal. You are also directed to utilize an earth ground which will ensure you are properly grounded to eliminate any "static cling" type issues.

Hi, id like to buy the pcs-1000 powder coating system but first i have some question. Is there a specific powder we should use in the gun ?What are the maintenance we should do on the gun and witch part should i keep in stock ?

Asked by: Maxime
Our Eastwood Powders average between 40 and 60 microns (just as a reference) and you can spray epoxy primer powders , polyurethane (translucents and specialty colors), polyesters (standard opaque colors) and acrylics (clears). As far as upkeep- we do not have any direct replacement parts listed on our website as of yet, except for the powder hoppers themselves. As long as the powder gun is cleaned out after each use and in between uses, and you have appropriate moisture systems on your lines you should not need to replace much of anything. However, if any issues were to occur where you would need replacements- please give us a call in Tech at 800-343-9353 or by emailing us at tech@eastwood.com

For improved flow out (less "orange peel"), bake coated parts at 500 degrees F until powder flows out (about 3-4 minutes for light sheet metal parts), then turn down the heat to 400 degrees F for a full 15 minutes. This is usually done with electric ovens or heat lamps to cure the powder.
