Duty Cycle

The rated Duty cycle refers to the amount of welding that can be done within an amount of time. The Eastwood MP140i has a duty cycle of 30% at 90 Amps. It is easiest to look at your welding time in blocks of 10 Minutes and the Duty Cycle being a percentage of that 10 Minutes. If welding at 90 Amps with a 30% Duty Cycle, within a 10 Minute block of time you can weld for 3 Minutes with 7 Minutes of cooling for the Welder.

If the Duty Cycle is exceeded, the Welder will automatically shut off, however the fan will continue running to cool the components. When a safe temperature has been reached, the Welder will automatically switch the Welder output back on. To increase the duty cycle you can turn down the Voltage Output control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied Great welder. All 3 functions work amazing. They sent me a replacement TIG torch for free because the first one had a gas leak. New torch didn’t have the problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value, easy setup, perfect for the hobby welder or someone learning I’m just starting out with welding and I liked how easy the Eastwood was to setup as well as the digital readouts. I am also looking forward to the versatility of it to be able to learn different types of welding without having to buy additional machines. I think it offers great value for the hobby welder and it’s made in America with a great warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MP140 review I purchased an MP140 for the restoration of a 1966 Chevy C10. So far I’m thoroughly impressed with the quality and performance. I highly recommend this welder for light gauge repair and replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MP140i Multi Process Welder. Right out of the box, I set it up for MIG with .023" wire, followed the chart settings for 16 gauge sheet metal, and BOOM!! Perfect welds on the first try. Perfect for the amateur hobbyist who is learning and doesn't yet possess the skill to wield 220v power. Can't wait to see what I can do with the TIG setup.

does the TIG torch have an on/off switch? I know it doesn't use a foot pedal, so wonder if once you turn on the machine, that the tungsten electrode is on and gas is flowing.

Asked by: Chris F
TIG welding with this unit is scratch start so no trigger is needed. Gas flow is controlled by a manual valve on the torch.
