Duty Cycle

The rated Duty cycle refers to the amount of welding that can be done within an amount of time. The Eastwood MP140i has a duty cycle of 30% at 90 Amps. It is easiest to look at your welding time in blocks of 10 Minutes and the Duty Cycle being a percentage of that 10 Minutes. If welding at 90 Amps with a 30% Duty Cycle, within a 10 Minute block of time you can weld for 3 Minutes with 7 Minutes of cooling for the Welder.

If the Duty Cycle is exceeded, the Welder will automatically shut off, however the fan will continue running to cool the components. When a safe temperature has been reached, the Welder will automatically switch the Welder output back on. To increase the duty cycle you can turn down the Voltage Output control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MP140 review I purchased an MP140 for the restoration of a 1966 Chevy C10. So far I’m thoroughly impressed with the quality and performance. I highly recommend this welder for light gauge repair and replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MP140i Multi Process Welder. Right out of the box, I set it up for MIG with .023" wire, followed the chart settings for 16 gauge sheet metal, and BOOM!! Perfect welds on the first try. Perfect for the amateur hobbyist who is learning and doesn't yet possess the skill to wield 220v power. Can't wait to see what I can do with the TIG setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little welder This machine is really light weight. So far it has handled everything I've used it on currently running .030 Flux wire. It came with plenty of spare contact tips but it would be nice if they were a variety of sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Welder! I bought this little guy last week and have put mainly the mig function to the test. It lays down a nice bead on sheet metal (AK rifle receivers). Bought this to replace a recent stolen old Clarke I had from decades ago and man I'm kinda happy someone stole my old one lol. This rig does it all with style. Mig torch is very sensitive and I like that, don't have to squeeze the crap out of it to get it going like my old one! I was a little hesitant buying a welder online, but this thing is built nicely. Time will tell about longevity, but it has a 3 yr warranty so that's a plus. I've heard great things about these. This is my first tig unit so I'll be toying with that function soon! Get one you will not regret it!

does the TIG torch have an on/off switch? I know it doesn't use a foot pedal, so wonder if once you turn on the machine, that the tungsten electrode is on and gas is flowing.

Asked by: Chris F
TIG welding with this unit is scratch start so no trigger is needed. Gas flow is controlled by a manual valve on the torch.
