Description
The Eastwood soft natural rubber Expander Wheel conforms to slightly contoured pieces and leaves a smooth uniform finish.
- Perfect for buffing sanding & developing soft or sharp edges in metal
- Use with 6" abrasive bands
- 6 Inch diameter Expander Wheel 1.5 Inch width
- Fits arbor sizes 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 1"
Can be used with abrasive bands Scotch Brite belts or the Trizact belts. They stay firmly in place because centrifugal force expands the rubber wheel. The Expander Wheel is designed to run at 2400 rpm so excessive cutting does not occur. The perfect tool for buffing sanding & developing soft or sharp edges in metal. Can be used for anything from sharpening tungsten electrodes to polishing stainless knife blades.

Quilty and price
It’s a good product, there’s other one out there but not as good. I was in the polishing and plating business for over 30 years, so I can tell you this is a good wheel and won’t blow apart like some of the cheaper ones

I've used these for years daily in a machine shop
These work great for just about every kind of material. I've used these in a machine shop for many years. I tried another brand once that didn't expand well enough to hold the belt. These expand real well and hold the sanding belt tight.

So far so good
So far so good. Been using this on my 6" lapidary machine with a diamond belt. Been working great and seems to have tighter tolerances than the other brand I purchased elsewhere.

Expander wheel for grinding.
My second wheel. First was used in factory production for de burring steel tubing. Bought it 30 years ago, and it is still in daily service in my home shop. Bought a second one for my Winter get away shop in AZ. If you have a bench grinder, this is a MUST! Great Quality!!!!

Can the wheel be left on the grinder and run to higher speeds if not used while the other wheel on the other side of grinder is being used?
We recommend removing whenever the grinder or buffer will exceed 2400 RMP

When used on stainless, how long can you expect a belt to last, they appear to be quite expensive
There will be too many variables when to give an idea of how long the belt will last.

what direction do these drums run,which way do you put it on arbor?
This unit will spend clockwise, this drum will fit on any arbor sizes 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 1"

Is the expander wheel good for knife sharpening, not polishing, with trizact belts ? I would run it on my Eastwood 1hp, 2 speed buffer, at low speed.

What size sanding belts do these take?
These take belts that are 1-1/2" X 18-15/16. This is the same as belts for a 6 inch diameter wheel.
