Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood Expander Wheel Great Deal. I bought one of these expander wheels years ago and have used the heck out of it. It has been one of the best investments I made in a long time. I finally realized that I needed a second one which I now also have set up. The only catch with these wheels is you must use them on a 1740 rpm grinder which up here in Canada are not as easy to find. This wheel offers great value for the price. I am guessing I will be ordering a third one sometime soon. The belts take seconds to change. From what I can tell these wheels appear to be well made. My first one I bought ten years ago has been used here in my studio almost every day and still works like new. With the fine trizact belts you will amazed at how many times you need some quick fine polishing on small parts. Times when a coarse faster turning belt sander would be too much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic item I bought one of these about 3 years ago and have been very impressed I am a professional weld and fabricator. I just ordered 2 more of these for other grinders I use in the shop and field doing stainless piping and fabrication. I have had other brands and like the way the belts go on and stay on much better than way more expensive wheels I have. They are softer and more flexible than other brands. Thanks for offering a great product. Central Wisconsin Stainless

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expander Wheel Bought over a month ago and have used it a dozen time or more. Works as advertised with the bands (bought a variety). Two items of concern. One is the arbor adapters which are plastic. Put on the wheel first and very carefully put the wheel on the grinder shaft. Two, the wheel is rather out of balance but is true and round. Wondering if the vibration will do in the grinder bearings, but this I doubt - the bearings have to put up with a lot more than vibration. Bands seem durable. Have ground iron, steel, bronze and brass. Friend tells me to turn the bands around occasionally to help with durability.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very soft At least I got one day of use. It's my fault I let the back of the axe that I was polishing barley touch the wheel where the expansion cuts are at. Then rubber started flying off and became off balance, so to the trash it went. Like I said my fault but be aware that the wheel is very very soft and cannot be touched when it is running.

This says it is designed to run at 2400 rpm, but buffers basically run at 1700 or 3400...anyone using this & what speed is this ACTUALLY be used at?

Asked by: KFrey
2400 RPM is the Max speed. It is perfectly fine to run this unit at that speed or less.

What diameter is this wheel?

Asked by: nr2184
Look at the length of the replacement belt, 18 15/16 long, convert to 18.937, now divide by Pi (3.1416) Your answer is 6.0278202, let just call it 6" Dia.
