Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black Satin - Gallon

Product Overview:

Description

Extreme Chassis Black has 3X the resins of traditional coatings, so it's tough enough for any undercarriage component...choose satin or high-gloss.

  • Improved resistance against corrosion, chips and scratches
  • Matches OEM finish
  • Apply multiple coats without lifting
  • Choose 14-oz. aerosol (about 8 sq. ft. of coverage) or quart can (up to 40 sq. ft. of coverage)
  • Satin Finish 25-35% gloss

You've spent many hours prepping your frame and suspension parts; now top-coat it with a tough, OEM-matching formula that provides extreme durability! 3 times more resins make it 3 times more durable than our original Chassis Black.

Note: This paint can not be applied over top of self-etching primers.

Customer Review: "This is a great product but you really have to use it with the Extreme chassis black primer. Buy both of them if you want a good finish."

By using Extreme Chassis Black paint from Eastwood, you’ll take better care of the frame so it can support your automotive adventures. We’ve put three times the resins into this epoxy frame paint as in the original chassis black finish. That means it lasts three times as long while forming a stronger barrier against everything from rust to UV fade. The satin finish matches OEM underbody painting with a mellower look. It also is better at hiding imperfections on a custom paint job than high-gloss paint is.

There are multiple ways to cover frames, brake parts, wheel wells and springs with a premium finish. Our chassis black spray paint is a convenient option for small projects or hard-to-reach areas. For larger underbody restorations, we offer a quart or gallon frame paint kit that can be brushed on. Although this paint can be spread over bare metal, we recommend using Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black Primer for best results. Give well-prepped suspension parts the top coat they deserved with our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing quality I recently used the extreme chassis black on my 1990 C1500 frame and the results are incredible! I sprayed 2 coats on the sandblasted surface and it just looks really good very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chassis Paint Great product. I use Extreme Chassis Black on the under carriage and inside fender wells. This makes the Eastwood Single Stage Urethane top coat on the body pop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extreme classic black paint I didn’t have a recommended 1.4 spray set up for my gun so I used a 1.7. It worked great. One coat was awesome. I will be applying a second coat soon. This stuff is hard as nails. I am very pleased with the results. Laid down easy. I highly recommend. This review is for extreme classic black

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product! This is an excellent product! It has a deep black with good shine. It sprays easily and cleans up easily. The only drawback is the fact that it is not UV stable. I will fade if left in the sun continuously.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good stuff Application seems to affect finish gloss - lighter coats are better to achieve a semi gloss finish. Overall very pleased with the product.

Questions & Answers

the underbody of my chevelle was painted with acrylic enamel along time ago can iuse your chassis paint over top of it

Asked by: Speed4
Extreme Chassis Black can go over properly prepped coatings. Scuff with a scotch brite pad or 320 grit sand paper. Clean the area well with a good PRE cleaner. Always test a small area first to check compatibility.

Activator? Please add somewhere in the description that this product needs activator to work! I almost created an enormous headache for myself spraying this product. There was no TDS sheet. No mention on can or site.

Asked by: Jsmith
No, the Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black Satin does not require the use of an activator. Only the 2K Eastwood Ceramic Chassis Black(2-component) product with a 4:1 chemical base does.

can it be sprayed over acrylic enamel

Asked by: Speed4
The compatibility of Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black Satin with acrylic enamel is not explicitly mentioned in my knowledge base. However, it is generally recommended to test a small section first by scuffing, cleaning, and applying the product to ensure proper adhesion and compatibility. This approach is advised when applying the product over any existing coatings not specifically mentioned as compatible.

Is this a good option for a heavy duty flatbed trailer? It would be exposed to the sun…

Asked by: Filoso
Yes, Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black is UV resistant. It is designed to provide a durable finish that resists UV fading, corrosion, chips, and scratches, making it suitable for undercarriage components and other exposed areas.

Does the Extreme Chassis Black need any Hardener? Or the single stage urethane hardener?

Asked by: Mit63
No, Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black does not require a hardener. It is a single-component paint that is ready to use and does not need additional components. It is formulated to provide durability and a tough finish without that need.

Can this be applied over the factory paint

Asked by: Heavy
No. For best adhesion results from bare metal, apply over Eastwood Chassis Black Primer. Eastwood Chassis Black should be applied over bare metal or epoxy primer as well. Can also be applied over Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. This durable paint works well on frames, suspension parts and anywhere a tough chip resistant finish is needed. Note: This paint can not be applied over top of self-etching primers.

I note that Extreme Chassis Black can be applied over the 2K Epoxy Primer. But is there any advantage, increase in durability? Or does the 1K Extreme Chassis Black Primer deliver equivalent results?

Asked by: Ches
Thanks GeneB. Basically the objective is to achieve best possible durability and rust protection on a 55 year old chassis restoration. Trying to avoid spraying 2K polyurethane (isocyanates) and not keen on moisture cure urethanes. Hence I thought the toughness/moisture resistance of the 2K Epoxy Primer, combined with Extreme Chassis Black protective topcoat, could be a good combination. Is my reasoning sound?!
