Application Tips

Eastwood's High Temperature Internal Exhaust Coating is formulated with specialized ceramic components and a tightly controlled particle sized aluminum pigment blend. Once parts are coated and exposed to high exhaust temperatures, the coating converts to a hard, tough, and impermeable ceramic barrier that protects and enhances the function of the system. The coating creates a smoother internal surface that reduces gas friction and creates a generally consistent gas flow through the system.

Since the coating is designed to conduct less heat than the uncoated steel components, the coating reduces the heat transfer and heat buildup at the coating surface and decreases heat buildup and hot spots. Its 1800° thermal coating properties will extend the life exhaust system components by preventing rust and corrosion build up from the inside out and the Eastwood exclusive 2 foot long 360° aerosol extension nozzle makes applying the coating a snap. Works with both new and used exhaust system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brand & My Wallet Go Together. Superior products whether it's coatings or tools. For new & unpainted headers the Internal Exhaust Coating is perfect. Application is simple with the 'shower head' delivery system for internal coating. The results are so good you may want to mount the finished headers as an art display instead of attaching them to your engine! Perfect price for a product that works seamlessly out of the can. With Eastwood products you can't go wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice product As others noted it is runny. But it does spray well with the extended nozzle. Insert into tube fully and pull back as you spray. I moved fairly quickly and went in from both ends. One can coated a set of long tube headers. After spraying rotate and turn the headers in all directions to get full use of the liquid in the tubes. Just use common sense. As far as reducing heat transfer I can’t say because it will be awhile before I can use them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for Motorcycle exhausts I’ve used this coating on 2 different motorcycle exhaust systems, one set of air-cooled v-twin aftermarket swept down drag pipes and a set of aftermarket Hayabusa drag headers. This stuff works, helps keep the heat coming off the pipes down, helps the pipes resist bluing and discoloration over time/heat cycles and seems to help keep both bikes running a bit cooler with less heat soak getting over to the engines. I’m a believer, and the long 360* nozzle makes it super easy to coat the pipes front to back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lower exhaust temp on motorcycle I tried this on the header and exhaust pipe of a motorcycle known to give you a hot-foot. It seems to work! I put a little disk on the hose about 1" from the nozzle to keep the nozzle from touching the inside of the pipe. They should include one of those plastic adapters you put in a 45 record!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High Temp Internal Exhaust Coating Aerosol Very runny, if you have long tube headers you will need 2 cans to cover them both. I would recommend using a pan or bowl to catch the extra paint that comes out the headers, and use a small paint brush to paint around the ports for a clean and neat job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Its a paint viscosity I bought this product to help protect my classic car's stock exhaust manifolds and it appears to do just that. The reason for only four stars was I thought this product was thicker and basically clinged to the inside walls of the manifold, however this is a paint viscosity and flows VERY easily and quickly. Yeah I had a big mess after I was thru. But the product dries fast and coats well. Knowing now I would buy this product again, but would put on many several light coats to minimize the mess.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Messy but potentially good? It’s definitely messy if you aren’t ready for it. I was on the fence about getting this because it was a bit pricey but my confidence in my custom exhaust not accumulating rust internally is that much higher. Wasn’t too concerned with heat— just more concerned about keeping my steel pipes from rusting through over the years

do you think this would help reduce overall temps if i coat the inside of a complete exhaust system on a 01 F-body excluding the mufflers & cats? and how many cans to coat a true dual exhaust system on a 01 F-body

Will this keep the pipe from turning blue on a motorcycle pipe

Asked by: Angel
Helps keep the heat coming off the pipes down, helps the pipes resist bluing and discoloration over time/heat cycles and seems to help keep both bikes running a bit cooler with less heat soak getting over to the engines. It helps resist bluing, over time areas that weren't totally coated may show some discoloration.

In addition to the inside, I used this on the outside of my exhaust pipes. Can I now paint over it with a regular high temp paint, like a high temp enamel or your silver high temp exhaust paint?

Asked by: Jon2
This can be topped with our Hi-temp coating as long as it is sanded if fully cured.
