    • 3:1 midcoat clear urethane for stir in paint effects
    • Superior suspension of flakes and pearl powder
    • Low-build formula for less film thickness
    • More uniform particle pattern for better appearance

    • Approximate Coverage Per Gallon: 140 SQ FT
    • Maximum operating temperature: 150 Fahrenheit

Features a low-build for less film thickness, and special suspension agents mixed in to help get a more uniform pattern. Spray out your advanced show car effects with less chance of stripes and waves from flakes collecting in one space. The 3:1 paint comes in a gallon can 3/4 full, with a 1 quart activator for easy mixing. Just add your flake or pearl powder and mix with a paint mixer on an electric drill, and you are ready to spray. Unlike other similar clears formulated for paint effects ours is a modern 2k urethane, not an old school lacquer, so it’s tougher, more durable, and fully compatible.

how much powder pearl would you recommed in this intercoat ?

    Asked by: ricky
Typically a 50 gram container of flakes or pearls is added per gallon of clear but you can add more or less depending upon your personal preference.

is this the same as deltron DBC 500? i wanna color match a silver metalic and wanna dilute my base coat with this to fade it out a bit? also does it come in 1 quart?

    Asked by: shawn
Unfortunately we have no way to compare this to a product we do not sell. This is a non UV stable clear coat designed for optimal flake or pearl suspension. We do not sell this product in any other size options than what is listed at this time.

So from bare metal this is what is needed. Urethane primer, color coat, mid coat with flake, then UV rated clear. I am a novice at this.

    Asked by: Hans
Correct. This clear is not UV stable and is designed specifically for the flakes or pearls to be mixed in then your UV stable clear can be applied over top.

What’s the difference between spraying flake in a clear base coat vs in a regular clear coat? Just for sanding purposes? What if I put flake in a regular clear, then went over it with clear but no flake?

    Asked by: KillaCam
This clear is designed specifically for the sole purpose of having flakes or pearl additives mixed in and for optimal suspension of these particles/ flakes. This clear is not UV stable and would need a UV stable clear coat applied over top for protection and textural reasons.

Once base coat is applied can I spray 2:1 Clear, followed by intercoat clear with pearl for graphics, then topped off with 2:1 Clear?

    Asked by: mkanuck
Yes you can apply the Intercoat clear with the pearl, over the 2:1 European Clear. then apply the 2:1 over the Intercoat clear. This will give your paint job a deep shine.

I bought speedokote 2k gloss topcoat and was thinking about using this product for my carrier for colorshift pearl. I was wondering once I have my pearl to the density I am seeking what is my top coat window? Will it crinkle up if top coated too soon?

    Asked by: Ryan
We can only guarantee compatibility with paints and coatings that we sell. We do not sell any Speedkote products.

Can the mid-coat with pearls and metallic flakes be sprayed with an airbrush as opposed to an automative spray gun? if so, is there a minimum size opening?

    Asked by: Doug
The Intercoat clear should be sprayed with a 1.3 or a 1.4 Tip on a full size spray gun. The Airbrush will not allow the pearls and metallic's to settle in properly.

Could I shoot a color coat, then a mid coat clear with flakes then another color coat over the top, would this provide "depth" to the paint or just cover up the mid coat clear and be a waste of time and paint?

    Asked by: Robert
It would cover up the mid coat. It really wouldn't be recommended.

Is this a clear to go over single stage or is there another product to use on it. Ill be using molten red metalic

    Asked by: Frank
This is a clear designed specifically for metallic flakes and pearls to be mixed into then applied. This clear is not uv stable and will need a clear such as European clear or Premium show clear applied over top.

Aside from no UV resistance, what is the difference between an intercoat clear vs your 2K gloss clear? Is one 'thicker' than the other and needs a larger tip, anything else? Do you _have_ to use this, or can I mix flakes and pearl with your gloss clear?

    Asked by: LarryQ
This product is formulated with the specific purpose of suspending your pearl or flake additive. It is a mid coat and does not offer any UV protection like 2K gloss clear in reference.

Can I apply this to bare steel and then apply your top coat clear?

    Asked by: mark
Our intercoat clear is not able to be applied to bare steel. It would need to be placed over a single stage or base coat paint.

Can this be used over urethane primer? Kevin mentioned this in paintucation video. I may have misunderstood. Thanks for your time.

    Asked by: Ruffis
This intercoat clear is specifically formulated to suspend flakes and pearls over a color coat. So to answer the question you would not want to go from primer to this Intercoat clear. If you're trying to achieve the primer look we recommend checking out our Rat Rod Gray paint.

Can I add pearl to this clear and then mix it with Eastwood single paint to give the paint more pearl

    Asked by: bluguitar88
While you can mix this clear with a pearl into our single stage you would have to clear over top when you are finished. The reason is due to the fact that this clear is designed to be in middle coat and has no UV protection.

can this be used on base coats that use just reducer.

    Asked by: dexcool
It sounds like you're referring to a non catalyzed base coat. Since all our base coat paints are catalyzed we would not be able to say how it would work with your base since it is outside our test parameters. With that said most modern day paints are compatible.

Whats to be done if the intercoat clear can"t be cleared over within 18 hours?

    Asked by: Walt73
This product would just have to be sanded with a grit that the next clear recommends.

Can this be used to put over your base coat for doing custom graphics and then top coated with clear?

    Asked by: Walt73
This can certainly be used over top our our base paint followed by our show clear. Just make sure when you are done to clear over since this clear does not have UV protection.

I added (Eastwood) flake to this product last night (3 coats) and layed out smooth, woke up this morning and panel is very gritty. Did I do something wrong ?

    Asked by: Slick773
You will still need to add a standard clear over this Intercoat clear to bury the flakes.

can I shoot this on enamel

    Asked by: terry54
We have never tested this over top of an enamel paint. IF the paint you're going over is fully cured the chances of reacting are minimal.
