Eastwood Interstate Black 3:1 Single Stage Automotive Car Paint - Gallon

Product Overview:

Description

Eastwood Interstate Black - The deepest, darkest, blackest black available. Ultra jet black pigments are finely ground and processed for extra time for maximum color development. Available only in single-stage, which is the best way to achieve a miles-deep appearance suitable for the most high-end refinish and restoration projects.

Eastwood Interstate Black has a gloss level of 95%+ which makes it the highest gloss black paint available with a super wet and deep shine.

Eastwood's premium Single-Stage Acrylic Urethane Topcoat provides exceptional long-lasting beauty and durability.

  • Catalyzed urethane for unsurpassed durability
  • Highly resistant to UV rays, chemicals, chips
  • Makes 1 sprayable gallon when mixed 3:1 with a required activator
  • Approximate coverage: 125 SQ FT
  • Max Temperature: Paint will handle up to 300 degrees without delamination, but color shift may occur, so it should not be used in a high heat setting
  • Made in the USA

This premium 2-component topcoat system is blended with top-quality raw materials and advanced composition coatings technology. Superior to acrylic, alkyd and lacquer coatings. Eastwood's single-stage urethane paints hold their gloss longer and won't yellow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very suprised.. Ive bought both 2 stage paint and single stage paints.. i like both very much, but let me tell you that im very suprised and pleased with this single stage black. They are not lying when they say the darkest black available...its very true. I use my Iwata 400 gun with a 1.4 tip @29psi.. it sprayed like glass and has stayed that way. I wanted to test it before going on to other parts so i sprayed my Endura bumper from my 69 and its looking great.. recommend it.. now for more parts to paint!!

Questions & Answers

What size spray tip is recommended for this paint?

Asked by: Clc919
Anywhere from a 1.3mm-1.5mm would work well with this.

This come with a hardener or activator? Or is it ready to spray?

Asked by: Godsgold
This is sold as listed on the website. When you go onto the product page it automatically designated a quantity of 1 each of the paint and the activator. This gets mixed 3:1 (3 parts paint to 1 part activator). Reducer is not required and is sold separate. We do strongly recommend the use of reducer and this paint can be reduced up to 20%.

The picture of the black sports car on your web site above the Interstate black advertisement. Was it painted with the i terstate black and also if it was . Does it have clear pai ted over it as well.thanks

Asked by: Jarc
The vehicle on the page for interstate black was painted with this Interstate black. This is a SSU color and clear was not applied; clear is already mixed in.

Do u have to clear over this? Or is it this shiny without clear? And do have to use a reducer?

Asked by: Shawn K
There is no need to add a clear over this paint. The single-stage paint will have a full gloss finish as is. Reducing this paint is a personal preference. However, usually, a 5-10% ratio is a safe place to start if you do decide to reduce. We recommend using a Urethane Reducer link in the link below. https://www.eastwood.com/ew-zero-voc-urethane-reducer-quart.html

When applying a mid and clear coat on top does then single stage need to be cured or can it just be flashed ?

Asked by: MBENJAMIN
The SSU paint does not need to be fully cured prior to applying your clear. I would wait a minimum of 2-3 hours before applying the clear for best results. You will have up until about 18 hours on average to obtain a chemical bond between this paint and the clear (no need to sand).

When using this product over old, existing paint, what grit sandpaper should be used to prep the old paint?

Asked by: Btn1
400 grit paper would be recommended to ensure a good bond between the two but still allow the paint to fill in the sand scratching marks left behind.

Will this adhere to a plastic golf cart body?

Asked by: Paul
Yes, as long as an Adhesion Promoter such as this is applied first: https://www.eastwood.com/sem-sand-free-adhesion-promoter.html
