Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood Large View Auto Darkening Welding Helmet Never had one before was unsure what to expect.. Luv it!!! Makes set up for weld much easier than flipping a hood down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great helmet for the price. I've had this helmet for 5 years now. It works flawlessly. I'm a high school welding teacher and my helmet gets beat up moving around throughout the day. Even though I have a Miller infinity, I still constantly use this helmet. 5 years in and the head gear is finally wearing out. It doesn't like to stay up. But the batteries last for ever. Works great for all types of welding and cutting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Welding Helmet Great welding helmet! I use it everyday and have zero complaints. Clear view and crisp colors. Highly recommend especially when compared to other costly hoods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood large view auto darkening welding helmet The Eastwood large view auto darkening welding helmet is comfortable and the view is excellent! I had a different helmet with small view and not easy to see thru. I needed to upgrade to automatic darkening and with large view. Im enjoying welding with the great fit of this helmet! Im looking for my next project to use this helmet more often. The Eastwood large view automatic darkening is a great purchase for me and the helmet fits all my home hobby needs. I close the helmet and the view is perfect and I can clearly see the work piece. Once I start welding the view instantly goes dark so my eyes are safe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Helmet and I like the True Color Lens. Great Helmet for the price. Really like the True Color Lens feature. It’s Eastwood so it’s a quality product and they back up what they sell. Now….if I could find a helmet not as bulky for when I’m laying under a car or trailer ????

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for the price My only issue with this helmet is the controls are on the inside and I wish the body was a bit heavier so it was less pliable. But considering the price, I can deal with this until it's time to replace it. Next time, I'll upgrade for the better helmet. Thought I'd give this one a try to see how I like it and for the price, I'm very pleased with this helmet.

I have two of these helmets. One has a purple looking lens when viewed from the outside and the other looks greenish. What is the difference and is there any consequence?

Asked by: Travis
Check if your helmet still has a protective film over the lens. It should have a purple look when viewed from the outside and green filter when looking through the lens from inside the helmet.

i would like to order extra clear lenses, it has inside and outside lenses? correct ?

Asked by: cesarin
Yes, the outer protective lens cover is the most commonly dirtied one. The helmet does already come with a spare, but if you want another spare the part number is #20230. Unfortunately they are out of stock currently.

As a complete beginner, is this a good choice? Will it automatically adjust so that I don't damage my eyes or do I have to always set it? Thabks

Asked by: steve
It will darken when a flash of light is detected (if set in the right mode). What shade it darkens too will depend on what you have it set to as far as numeric value. This depends on what type of welding and what amperage you are welding at.

The auto darkening helmets are advertised as magnifying lens compatible yet they don't seem to come with that specific lens. Does it come with one or do you have to get one separately ? I didn't find just a lens on your site.

Asked by: Larry
They now offer the cheater lenses.

Does this helmet have Auto On - Off ?

Asked by: Perk
The helmet is always "on" as long as the batteries are installed, and will automatically shade your view when a welding arc is detected and switch it back to unshaded after welding is completed.

How clear is the view when it is not being dimmed. Will I be able to see good in low light conditions prior to striking an arc? This is important with theese old eyes. ;~)

Asked by: StoneyCreeker
The view is fairly clear in my opinion - I would compare it to wearing a cheap pair of lightly shaded sunglasses from a convenience store stand.
