Instructions

This machine has smart wire feeding technology to prevent forcing excessive wire into the start of the weld. When the machine is not welding and feeding wire, it will feed wire at a slow fixed speed for approximately five seconds, and then speed up to max speed. This is to quickly feed wire through the torch. Once the machine senses that it is welding it will automatically run at the preset wire speed that the user has set on the machine. Do not be alarmed when the wire feeds slowly while not welding.

Application Tips

High-Value Welders from Eastwood

This 180-amp MIG welder with spool gun has everything you need to get started, just add a bottle of shielding gas. It includes a precision metal drive motor, regulator with hose, Tweco-style torch, tips and accessories, modern features and technology. A "Quick Setup" welding chart specifies settings for each material thickness, eliminating guesswork and assuring complete penetration.

The unit is backed by Eastwood's No-Hassle 90-day return policy and industry leading 3-year manufacturer's warranty. We even provide tips and tricks on MIG welding in the Eastwood Garage that will get you started and improve your welding.

Eastwood MIG 175 Welder

Precision Drive Motor

The drive roller mechanism, which is the heart of any MIG welder, is designed to our high specifications and delivers flawless wire feed without skipping or slipping on the wire. That's why the MIG 180 has a quality METAL drive motor. This means you'll get a great puddle and solid welds without having to go back and "touch up" spots. Beware of other units with much lower quality equipment!

Eastwood MIG 180 Welder

All-Around Steel and Aluminum MIG Welder

The MIG 180 comes complete (except for the gas cylinder) and is ready to weld 24 gauge to 5/16-inch mild steel and stainless. Connect the spool gun and you can also weld 14 gauge to 1/4-inch aluminum. With a 30 to 180 amp welding range, this high-quality MIG welding machine has a 30 percent duty cycle at 180 amps and a 60 percent duty cycle at 65 amps, giving you the power needed for tough projects.

The metal drive motor feeds the wire smoothly for the best operation and the infinitely adjustable wire speed and heat settings allows you to precisely control the machine. If you don't have a gas bottle, or are away from your shop, use the flux core wire for your welding project. Plus the ability to connect to either 240 or 120 volts makes this an incredibly versatile machine for any garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great welder for the price. I especially like the spot weld feature. I did have a problem with the regulator but customer service was great and solved it with just one call. The spool gun is exactly as pictured but this must be an older model. The instructions in the welder book are for a different gun and the instructions with the spool gun are for a 175 model welder. Not a problem after I figured out what I was dealing with. The spool gun works great, I just need to get used to using one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Understanding and polite customer service The mig 180 went on sale three days after I ordered it. I called customer service and thought the sale wouldn’t apply to me because of the timing of my purchase. Much to my surprise, Eastwood applied the savings back on to my card. Very much appreciated! I’ve been using the welder and it has performed just as described. I also feel comfortable with the 3year warranty as others that I have looked into didn’t offer that long of a warranty.

We have it set up with .030 wire and ss I've welded up to 1/4'' it s a great welder very satisfied so far .

Only used on 120 so far but working fine. Only used shielded wire (no gas) so far. Haven’t even scratched the surface on what it can do yet. Gotta learn to weld in a straight line first. It’s fun and with some practice who knows? Go get you one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great on the thin stuff I have a large Lincoln in the shop but it sucked for thin stuff. So a 10# spool of 0.023 and some C25 made short work of stretching the fenderwells of my jeep. I have yet to use the spool gun but if it works half as well as the rest of the welder it should be great.

Yes you can run ss wire in these machines. Gas hose with industry standard fitting is included. It can be run 120v or 240v; but for full power it must be run on240v. You will only get half power out of the unit when run on 120v.

No, a spool gun is needed to do any aluminum MIG welding. The standard torch will not be able to push that wire through the torch.

Running the Mig 180. Can’t seem to dial in the settings for steel tubing 20m. Can you sigh yes a starting point on the settings?

Asked by: JTCC
JTCC, To help dial in the settings for your mig 180 we must first determine the wall thickness of the steel tubing. Once you have the wall thickness, you can then use the settings chart inside the machine and is on the door. I've also added a link to this chart. https://www.eastwood.com/images/pdf/p33980h_settings_chart.jpg For example, if the tubing has a wall thickness of .120, and the machine has .030" solid wire. a great starting point is 19 Volts, and approximately 350 in/min wire speed.

Will this run on a 20A 120v circuit? Or would I need a 30A. (In which case I would just run a 220v)

Asked by: RPL3
The MIG 180 will run on a 20A 120VAC circuit, but maximum welding amperage will be reduced significantly, so we do not recommend it. If welding material 16 gauge or thinner this may be acceptable. Attempting to weld near maximum amperage will result in the circuit breaker tripping.
