Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw This is an excellent saw. I've used it installing a metal porch railing, and cutting 1/4" steel plate. I can't believe how great it cuts. Slow and steady on the heavy stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Metal Cutting Tool! One of the best purchases made in a long time! Originally working 16 gauge stainless with a hack saw and saws-all made for a lot of effort. This saw was advertised at a good price and it made all the difference as it cut through the stainless sheets with minimal effort. The only downside is the little metal catchment collects a majority of the metal chips but not all! Still needed to shop vac after each session was done. Overall, a 5-star item and and a great tool!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood Cares About Their Customers I'm going to start by saying i was wrong and will fall on the sword. I had one of these saws and it failed prematurely. I made an ASSumption that Eastwood wouldn't support the customer as it was out of warranty and submitted a poor review. Yes the tool failed, but the real deal is that this company contacted me and made it right. They took care of the customer even though they didn't have to. Thank you Eastwood for treating customers like family. Not something that is common these days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little metal saw! This is a great little metal saw... I needed something for longer cuts in metal where the angle grinder wouldn't be accurate enough and a chop saw couldn't handle the size. Fortunately, this little saw fit the bill perfectly and cut straight and accurately like a circular saw for metal. My only negative comment is the visibility to the material you're cutting so a short cut is hard to line up accurately; however, for longer cuts this handles the job perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool if you do metalworking. This saw works excellent! I've used it extensively since I got it. Whether it's flat stock, bar stock or angle iron it works great. Normally I use a 7 1/4" saw to do the same things this does. This saw is way lighter and easier to maneuver and the blades are way cheaper to accomplish the same work. The blades seem to have about the same life as my bigger saws blades do also. The chip collector works very well but still misses a small percentage of the chips. I will say however it doesn't allow bevel cuts like my larger saw does. All it needs now is a fixture to lock it into to use it as a chop saw for small stuff. I looked at it a bit but I would have to re-engineer the guard mechanisms movement to accomplish that so it hasn't happened yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unreal Just received it today. I cut a piece of stock 3/16x1-1/2 just to test. It went through it like a champ. Took less than 5 seconds, and cut was cool. No need to juggle cut piece to let it cool off. I'm thrilled. Have a lot of work for this saw on project coming up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding results!!! I purchased a different brand saw with a variety of blades off of one of the bigger online stores. The saw itself is basically the same as this saw. However it came with a few wood blades and then those so-called diamond coated blades. This is where I believe where it all works or doesn't work. I was trying to do a crosscut on a quarter inch thick by 12 in wide plate steel. 30 minutes in I was only halfway through. I boxed it back up and shipped it back. I purchased this saw from Eastwood with these tungsten carbide blades. I stated above the saw is not that much different. Same RPMs same features. I believe all the results are in this blade. 100% OUTSTANDING!!!!! I went through this 1/4-in by 12-in plate steel 5 times in less than 2 minutes. If I didn't have to readjust my clamps. I probably could have made all five cuts in 30 seconds! I can't recommend this setup enough!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood mini metal saw This saw is amazing it seems to cut through any mild steal that the blade depth allows. i have used it several times cutting plate tubing and angle irons. I was not sure if i would be able to justify the expense of the blades, however after several feet of cutting i have yet to need the second blade. I am cautious as not to get it hot it seems to be tougher than the purchase price reflects. Would and have recommended to friends. Thank You

I'm hesitant to buy this product. 1) Some reviews complain about low quality blades and a long wait time for replacements. Any comment?  2) Since it is a "closeout" does that mean one cannot get replacement blades in the future?

Where can I find wood blades for this saw? Can 4-1/2" blades work, that is all I can find that is close.

Asked by: shorti
Replacement Blades for the Eastwood Mini Metal Saw(31664) are available directly from Eastwood at 1-800-343-9535. When ordering use item # 31665. The Mini Metal Saw is designed to use a 4 3/4" blade with Tungsten Carbide teeth and a 3/8" arbor hole with a maximum speed of 7000 rpm. If your 4 1/2 in blade meets these specifications it should work but you will sacrifice some cutting depth.

How shallow can you set it to cut?  I want to cut only halfway through 1/8” sheet so I can bend it easy

Asked by: Jpope
The base plate of the Mini Metal Saw(31664) can be adjusted to a zero depth of cut so you would be able to adjust it to as little as 1/16th inch depth of cut.

Will it cut 3/8" 316 stainless plate?

Asked by: SamPull
If the stainless steel is not hardened, the saw should cut it, but the blade will probably chip off some teeth. I would only attempt this if you have no better option and I would definitely clamp something down to guide the saw along the cut.

It cuts wood just fine with a wood specific blade. It does not have a port to attach a vacuum hose for wood chips.

The spring loaded blade guard on my saw has become loose enough that the blade is cutting a groove in it. Does anyone know if this is an easy fix or if warranty will fix it?

Asked by: josh
There is an external metal snap ring/retaining ring that holds the blade guard in place and the snap ring has probably come out of its groove. To fix the snap ring: remove the blade, slide the thick metal washer off the spindle, push the snap ring back down into the groove. I had the snap ring pop out twice before I replaced the snap ring with better quality snap ring that fit snugly. The new snap ring cost 45 cents at the hardware store in 2019.

Has anybody tried this on thin aluminum?   I need to cut some .030 and .051 6061 aluminum sheet.   Because the aluminum is soft and thin, will the edges be distorted by the relatively coarse 24 tooth blade?

Asked by: Tool Collector
The Mini Metal Saw Blade (31665) has a narrow Kerf of just 1/16". This combined with the 3500 RPM rating of the Eastwood Mini Metal Saw (31664) will produce a smooth cut. Note: The speed of forward travel of the saw will impact cut quality so test on a piece of scrap first.

How well will this saw cut 24 gauge galvanized sheet i need to cut sheet i  half 8 foot cut would it smooth with no jagged edges thanks

Asked by: Protech
The Eastwood MIni Metal Saw (31644) is a high quality saw that will easily cut 24 gauge steel and will cut mild steel as thick as 1 5/8" . This saw utilizes a 4-3/4" X 24 tooth carbide tipped blade that when allowed to cut by rotation speed can achieve smooth cuts. Forcing the blade in thin gauge steel may cause rough edges.
