Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to my woodshop To get the best out of this machine you will need to change to a belt drive system and disregard the gears for the high and low. Because the gears are plastic and they will break eventually. However The machine is great for a beginner learning to use a mill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For beginner to pro. I bought this for the HP and great price compared to others. Most are 1/2 this is 3/4HP. Easy to set up and tram (square up). The table uses 1/2" T-Nuts and I'd like to see Eastwood sell a vice and clamp set for the table. Don't go over a 3" vice as the table is small. A small 3" clamp on vice would be good to start with. All the power I need and the machine comes with goodies that Eastwood includes. So far it thumbs up. I'd like to see a DRO kit through Eastwood too. The provided collet (3/8") is great and gives you extra vertical space when you need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m happy with my Eastwood mini mill purchase. Thank you Eastwood. I also bought the metal workers data book which has a great deal of information on milling. Both, great products

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for price but... My biggest problem with this mill, is the dial indicators on the X and Y axis specifically. For one, and in case anyone is also confused by this, the manual states that each full revolution turns the wheel .625 of an inch. This is wrong, it's probably meant to say .0625 as if you do a full revolution, it doesn't even make it to the .1 mark on calipers. As such, because of this, trying to mill in thousandths and doing conversions is VERY confusing (at least to me). I've seen conversion kits that change this to .05 every revolution, which would be much more useful for this mill in the first place. Not sure who thought of that. I am installing aftermarket DROs onto it right now, but it would have been more user friendly if that number was nice and even. Otherwise, no real complaints. It is sturdy, everything that came with it was nice. Seems well manufactured. I've tried a few basic jobs and the variable RPM seems spot on and is a nice feature. Z stop is a nice touch, and the action on the Z plane is very smooth and reliable. Only other critique would be the backlash especially on the X plane is a little loose, meaning changing directions specifically is a little sloppy. But for what I paid for it, seems great so far. I like it better than the other options that were out there and I feel I trust Eastwood more as a company should I ever need some help here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fine for small mill The Eastwood mill is the same basic machine as those marketed by Harbor Frieght, Micromark, and Little Machine Shop. Others have the advantage of belt drives, decimal lead screws, or a larger table. Increased pricing by Micromark and LMS drove me to settle on the Eastwood for $750, free pickup, and a $30 store kick back. I set mine up on a wooden bench, modified a vise to fit, and got everything accurately aligned. The table is .0005" higher at the extreme ends. It was necessary and simple to disassemble the machine into two sections so I could carry it to the basement. So far I have done only light milling on aluminum. Although kinda noisy owing to the nylon gears, it appears capable of smaller tasks and working with softer metals.

Questions & Answers

Needing a small mill to make putters. Will this mill 304 stainless?

Asked by: Nate C
It will, but I wouldn't use it for that regularly. These don't have good enough rigidity to mill hard materials well.

Is the spindle reversible so that the machine can be used to tap threaded holes?

Asked by: Gary
You would have to use a Tap-Matic tapping head. The same thing you would use on a Bridgeport Mill

What is the difference (if any) between this mill machine and the mini mill by Harbor Freight? Is it made by the same manufacturer? Looking at all the photos, visibly they look identical in features and location of them. Just paint color is different.

Asked by: hiker45acp
This unit is directly comparable to their offering. The difference is here you are backed by Eastwood's 90-day risk free satisfaction guarantee and our longer 1 year warranty.
