Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cleaning and setup So. Idk where all these good reviews come from but they must have just opened the crate and wiped off the Cosmoline from the outside which hope they didn't. Customers who purchased this mill would be feeling the same as me. Im not sure why it didn't just come in parts but this whole ordeal was inside. I've just spent every minute of my free time for a week on disassembly, cleaning, making sure there were zero defects, oiling/greasing and reassembling. I just got done yesterday and still have to tram the thing. "I did find defects, as in cross threaded alignment screws, and some others ill get to" not considering the products i had to buy to remove the Cosmoline which i feel like i should at least be compensated for if not the time i have into this. Things i discovered already saved them money from having to replace the y axis feed screw bearing, i had to purchase a shim set because the but there cheap, just wish a set was sent with it. as i said if it came in parts, shipping would be cheaper, it would of been much easier for the customer, and i could make sure its not going together in a manner that causes cross threading or other issues as the people from the factory seem to love doing. I may also need new gib spacers since someone tried drilling a little notch for the 'dog point" set screws to sit, but it didn't work and i noticed the gib spacers are only contacting at the top and not the whole surface of the dove tail. Finding threads in ball bearings isn't a hopeful sight and im just praying theres nothing wrong since i didn't feel comfortable trying anything with all Cosmoline and gritty stuff that was stuck to it, idk if it was metal or just dirt but it was awful. I know this isn't the highest quality machine out there and i also understand the reason behind the Cosmoline but dang it was a job., i wish they at least said something in the advertisement here or at least gave me some direction in the manual. I talked to a lovely gentleman about it Friday who probably just wanted to go home and not talk to me after id been pretty fed up that i wasn't even close to trying it. Im not sure if i need a new base or not but it wasn't machined correctly so they just took a grinder to it at the factory that left a hump where the column sits. Its Sunday and im tired so i will see if its even correct tomorrow but i can clearly see its not sitting flush with that weird part. I don't have access to a machine to have it fixed either or i would, and its too big for a file. Maybe im just too malicious about it but i dont think im exaggerating, no where does it explain this step which should be in the manual at least. Even after all this im really not upset i just hope it works because im not going to clean another machine, it has already cost me much more than it should have. Hopefully they will understand my grievances and understand where im coming from, i definitely would have bought something a little more expensive if that meant the machine wasn't in such condition and i hope this isn't just some cheap machine Eastwood buys from the manufacturer that they know has issues, its not expensive but its not cheap either so i honestly expected a little better quality than this, i had the idea someone at Eastwood at least inspected the machine itself and not just the box, they would of seen its probably not something they wanted to have their name on. I know they stand behind their products and that's the only reason i purchased from them, my intention from the beginning was to use it and modify it as needed, but its in kind of a weird condition that it needs more than i thought. Ill report back after i speak with customer service and hopefully some of these issues will be resolved..

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A pandora’s box of issues This mini mill works well when it works. For me that was roughly 2 hours lol. It is exceedingly obvious how many corners were cut in manufacturing to keep costs low. A cheap plastic gear broke so I decided to try and upgrade the mill to being belt drive (slightly less torque but safer and no broken gears to worry about), but had so many issues disassembling this machine because of parts that were obviously not machined well and then just brute forced on. I bent the shaft of a flathead screwdriver (1/4” thick steel) trying to pry the godforsaken gear off of the motor spindle. It had obviously been hammered on at the factory. In the process of finally getting that gear off, the plastic (!) housing keeping the spindle in place broke from the prying force. Had to buy new parts from littlemachineshop because OF COURSE Eastwood sells no replacement parts. They also never responded to my correspondence seeking to file a warranty claim. After I replaced the housing and finished the belt drive upgrade it worked for about an hour and then just stopped. No fault light on so the issue is the motor. $200+ for a replacement motor (again, not sold by Eastwood) or just sell in its current non-functional state and buy a well built machine? So long mini mill. Never buying Eastwood again.
