Our paintless dent repair how-to guide below walks you through the simple process provides helpful tips for how to use each of the paintless dent repair tools. We’ve also created multiple videos showing step-by-step how to remove dents on cars and trucks. In just minutes, you’ll be able to reverse dents from hail damage, parking lot dings and other common minor dents.

DENT REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Select the Plastic Pull Button that best matches the size and shape of the dent to be pulled. Generally, the very center of a dent is the best placement however larger dents may benefit from multiple pulls from different locations.

Using a non-permanent type marker or masking tape, trace a circle around the outside of the planned location of the Pull Button

Immediately apply the face of the Pull Button to the previously outlined area and hold firmly in place for 10 to 15 seconds.

Wait several minutes for the heated glue to solidify then hook the slotted feature of either the Levered Puller or Slide Hammer shaft over the “T” feature of the Pull Button. Operate the chosen pulling device to remove damage.

PULL BUTTON REMOVAL

Fill the Aluminum Spray Bottle 3/4 full of denatured alcohol (not included).

Apply the denatured alcohol liberally to the glue area while using the Nylon Scraper to gently wedge between the Pull Button and paint surface.

Carefully remove glue with provided nylon scraper. Note: Be careful if using on a vehicle that has been resprayed. The paint is not bonded as well as a factory finish and may lift.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works better than some of the poor reviews suggest This takes a little practice so as to not pull too much, which I did on one of about dozen hail dents. As I worked on a couple I got a feel for how to adjust the pressure on the puller when necessary. Most of them came out pretty well for an ametuer, and the rest are completely invisible. Some of the poorer reviews made me think those folks were either impatient or didn't follow the instructions; The glue gun takes a long while to get hot but stays hot once it gets there, and to adjust the length of the puller you have to hold the end of it while rotating the knob to keep it from rotating. Patience is key, pulling little by little using smaller buttons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well, pump is cheap This works well, takes a bit to get the technique down, the little pump didn't work at ALL, had to resort to a squeeze bottle for the IPA.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Go to hobby lobby and get a good 60 watt+ glue gun I've used these before and you are much better off cleaning the dent with some acetone (careful not to get on any plastic or plastic headlight lens as it softens that) and clean the paint of wax and junk. Then with a 60 watt or higher glue gun you should get great adhesion to the paint. Acetone will clean off any glue residue as well. If you don't clean the paint first then the glue isn't going to stick worth a darn, also put some acetone on a rag and quickly wipe the plastic buttons that you glue onto the car so they will stick to the glue as best as possible.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does a good job. I have two older vehicles with quarter size hail damage, too old for enough insurance coverage for this number of dented panels. Vehicles need to be shaded for glue to set. Black vehicle in the sun won't work. I found the slide hammer to work better than the popping tool. About a third of the hail dents come out 95-100% with first application. About a third never get quite to 100% even after several applications. Getting the glue off after the application is a pain. Most scrapes off with the included plastic scraper, but the film layer left is hard to remove. The alcohol softens in, but then in tends to smear into a larger mess. I trusted Eastwood tools, but my expectation was not high for this kit. It does however work better than I expected and I a happy with the purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value - Great Tools to Have The accessories are good quality and work well in the right conditions. My first attempt was in broad daylight on a door ding near the shoulder of the fender. The ambient temperature was about 100 degrees with high humidity. Even though I waited more than the suggested time for the glue to dry, it pulled away goowey. My next try was successful as I waited for cooler conditions and sundown. The glue turned white when fully cured. The dent came out and I was very happy with the results.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works! The tool works as advertised, with the exception it removed the clear coat. The paint is 16 years old and a paint job is next so thats no big deal. First pull removed most of the dent. Second pull removed some more of the dent and clear coat. Last pull for good measure seemed to finish it off. I was able to re use the same button throughout the process. The lever puller was easy to use and it is adjustable so you can get maximum pull with it. It just took a minute to realize you have to hold the part that grabs the button while you twist the adjustment knob, otherwise it just spins.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glue gun is weak link Small part on glue gun broke and glue stick would not advance. Had to use a long wood screw to pull it out. Still can't figure out how to load a second stick at the end of the first one without pulling out the first one. Product has reduced size of the dent significantly, but not completely.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Use Hammer puller on large dings! “Hammer Puller worked great on larger dents & dings. Lever puller was useless on any size, even small hail dings. Maybe the spring needs to be stronger or better glue?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dent removal kit Had to play with it a bit. At first the hot glue wouldn't stick to the plastic puller parts. After scuffing with my knife it stuck. Took a couple of tries to get one dent out. After a little bit, the glue didn't stick well to the car. It just pulled off without moving the dented area at all. The dents I have are small from falling walnuts. I'll keep playing with it, but there has to be a better way to attach the discs to the car.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from CHEAP Slide Hammer Kit is good in that it has everything you need included in a nice case. The slide hammer is garbage. After using the first time, the threads are stripped on the handle and it pops off with each pull.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great product, service lacking Ordered product one day and received few days later and went back to website to check something and product was ten dollars and something cheaper called and they say if you don’t call within 24 hours they won’t do anything which doesn’t sound fair to me but be warned but overall product does what it says but be careful don’t pull out to hard, because it will kink alittle but does take out dimple

Rated 3 out of 5 by from High hopes I really liked the look of this kit. Got it delivered quickly and prepared to pull small dent. Plugged in the glue gun and no heat. Had to go buy another glue gun. Then after purchase of another glue gun got first small tab placed and after two pulls it broke. Used the next smaller tab and on first pull it broke. Had to order new tabs from Keco.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Concept great, problems with quality I have used this with some success with removing dents from hickory nuts that fell on my 2006 Ford Focus during a windstorm. The dents pulled out with no residual marks on the steel roof, but the aluminum hood was about 50% effective, as the tiniest pock mark would remain in many of the dents that I pulled out. Overall I was pleased that I obtained this tool. My car once again looks good, mostly... My complaint regarding this product has to do with its quality, and Customer Service went to great lengths to make sure that I was completely satisfied. But after shipping me the third case to replace the other two that had manufacturing defects in them (cracks at the hinges and on the face of the case), I decided to give up on getting a decent replacement and fix the best case (of the three) at the hinges using plastic welding. Not pretty, but it worked. Then, to top it off, the glue gun would not heat up. Customer Service then told me that I would have to return the whole kit in order to get a replacement heat gun. So I decided to keep my repaired case and kit, and go buy a heat gun at my local hardware store. I had run out of patience on getting this kit "right" and I just needed to move on, despite having to pay extra in order to make the whole thing work. Overall, the concept is great, and the pieces do the repair as designed, though maybe not 100% in the hands of an amateur such as me. The company buyers who set up this kit need to rethink from whom they are sourcing their pieces. If my experience is similar to anyone else's who has purchased this product, quality control is lacking and needs a serious revisit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Painless Dent Removal I order the product and received it very fast. It was a few days before I tried to use it I cleaned the fender of any wax and oil. I tried repeatedly to remove with different size buttons. Rewatched the Eastwood video and tried again the next day. It seems the glue just did not hold long enough. I call and spoke with Angela and she told me to send it. Which I did six days ago and have not received a refund yet. Please check on this for me. Thank You

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Levered Puller cant be adjusted so it can be used The Levered Puller cannot be adjusted, the pull head is lower than the 2 feet. I fiddled with it, read the instructions, and ended up using the slide hammer. Its disappointing that a primary tool of the kit doesn't work as intended.
Date published: 2018-12-01
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slide hammer needs more heft I agee with one reviewer about the lever...needs more gap! The slide hammer doesn’t have the weight or length needed to get very good results. Used it multiple times and had a very hard time getting the tab to pull off from the vehicle...more weight and length I feel would have benefited this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dent Removal I'm not sure that it was the system's fault but I could not get the little plug to adhere to the dent. Even though it's a nice compact system, I couldn't get it to work. Possibly the dent was to sharp of an angle, but disappointed nonetheless. The plug would pop off the second I put any pressure on it to pull. For me and what I tried it on, I give it a two...on a larger less angular dent it may be perfect. Quality product...except end result was what I had hoped for.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don’t buy this kit! Sorry, This kit is not that great for 2 main reasons. 1. The tool that pulls from the bridge does not get tight enough to do anything.. Maybe mine is defective. 2. The glue gun melted the glue in a way that the glue filled in the slide groves to push the stick in. After a while it would not push the glue out. If I just wanted a small slide hammer this not the kit to get. The slide hammer, glue and tabs are the only useful things that work from this kit. Needs a better glue gun and a better pry tool! Totally disappointed in my results. But don’t think a replacement kit is gonna fix the problem. It is a flawed design.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed To be fair my 2 stars is based on trying to remove a small ding on a new vehicle with a clear coat finish. I read the directions and watched a video on line. I first tried to remove any polish ahead of time to prepare the surface and followed the directions using the appropriate plastic tip and the glue gun, I tried several times to get the button to stick but it didn’t work, kept coming off and the ding didn’t come out. Also the glue gun is garbage, it leaked inside and dried before coming out and was not functional, I had to toss it and buy a new gun. In the end I wasted over 2 hours of my time, I have an expensive tool and it doesn’t do the job,
Date published: 2021-07-28
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Impressed For the price I couldn't go wrong right? Well, not really. The gun that melts the glue would not get hot enough to melt the glue to do the job. At that point the dent remover was useless and I just lost my 50 bucks. But guess what, I had a glue gun that is over 20 years old probably more like 30 and that melted the glue so I could give this thing a try. The hard small dents did not come out all the way, they got better but not somewhat perfect. I had one bigger dent that it should have gotten out but it is near a crease and is hard to do. I got most of it out but not all the way. So I think it can work but you have to just keep working with it. With the Gun not melting the glue I have to give that a 1 rating and for the dent removal I would have to give it a 3 to maybe 4 rating if you can get the dent pulled. I also think the extra part should be included that shows you if you have the dent out all the way and should not have ben bought extra. The thing is needed so why not include it. But for 50 bucks what have you got to lose.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Will not stick I tried this on bare metal and can not get it to stick, cleaned with wax and grease remover, final wipe and lacquer thinner and used a whole glue stick and every attempt failed.Appears to be well made so I am hoping it will work on painted surfaces.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tools are good. Glue and tabs fake. Got extra glue and tabs. Used nearly all glue sticks and broke most the tabs. Most glue isn't strong. Only random few sticks seemed to actually hold somewhat. Not sure if it was defective but cannot see this pulling most dents. This kit gets you the tools. Ignore the sticks and tabs because you cannot count on them. Save $ buy better glue and tabs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Glue wouldn't stick. Followed the instructions to a t. Cleaned with wax remover and the glue still wouldn't hold. I don't know if the temperature had anything to do with it as it was a sunny day in the high 40's. Disappointed especially after checking with a local dent remover who only charges $75 For up to 5 dents and I have 3.
Date published: 2018-12-14
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth it I purchased this about a month ago and used it on a few dimples on my daughters care. The concept with the glue and peg is great however, the lever puller is worthless. I had to us the slider tool to remove most of the dimple...I think dimples are too deep to use this tool. The lever puller does not have enough pull gap to pull a dent out, I had to use some pieces of wood to increase the gap between the pads and the pulling shaft. If you use the slider it will probably work well for surface dents, but not dimples which are deep.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from PDR KIT This is probably the worst 100 bucks i ever spent. I tried to pull a few different dents with this and the glue just won't hold. I was hoping this would save my shop time and money on some smaller collision jobs, but it just wasted time. I would not recommend this product.

Questions & Answers

I read where this product might not be effective on a ‘39 Pontiac because of the metal thickness.  I have a 1993 Suzuki Samurai with a small dent right exactly in the rounded rear corner.  Do you think this kit would work on that dent?

Asked by: Docwooley
Newer vehicles such as a Suzuki Samurai will have the thinner metals in which this system should would perfectly on. As with any dent since there are many variables it would be impossible for us to say 100% how the kit will work.
